1 Or 2 Quaker 🦜Parrots? Is There A HUGE Difference?

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Two, definately two quakers. Three may not work out for me, but Blue is a good lesson in the fact that Quakers can become needy and start to pluck when they are the only bird or a single Quaker. All parrots are like us, they need others in their life that are the same as them. We also are a significant part of their flock, but having another Quaker, or Monk parrot, makes all the difference.

I think it’s great to have at least 2 parrots. They interact with each other, taking some pressure off of me. Most of my birds play and preen each other. Our bird, Ivar, lived with other birds but didn’t interact with them. He sometimes shows an interest in the others but they pretty much ignore him. One of the girls will go to Ivar to help him preen. He looks like he enjoys it but then looks anxious. At that point he goes back into his cage. At least he’s now showing more curiosity.😊😘

Yes, takes pressure of you/the person. And, makes the birds happier too. I didn’t realize that Ivar wants to bond more but that he gets ignored, poor thing. However, I bet in time it’ll change. Once they aren’t young, it takes time to really adjust and relax and find your place in a new life - for us or them :)

My Quaker- Bella, loves my attention, and wants it nonstop, and when I leave him for a few minutes I feel guilty, cause he’s always trying to call me back…. Too the point. now I’m thinking of getting him a friend, and the question would be, should I get him a green cheek conure friend or a quaker friend???

He can talk and bond with another Quaker. A GCC isn’t impossible, but it’s not the same. If it’s a friend for him, another Quaker.

Hello , I have a 1 year old white and blue crossover quaker that was from a very bad breeder , (I did not know any better, first time buying a bird from this kind of place, would not ever do it again tho I wish I could have taken them all from there, all in the same cage and biting each other's toes and feathers some even missing toes and bloody feet awful, I paid upfront to someone else and they said no refunds so thinking I was getting a 3 month old hand fed blue baby like I was told and paid for, I ended up with a beautiful white and blue terrified 1 year old , this was a birthday gift from my husband and he felt so bad because the bird is so scared it hides in the back of the cage every time you even come in the room...fast forward a month and my husband surprised me with so sweet 6 week old blue one that I am now weaning, BOY... so after all that here is my question... the white one is now taking food from me and clicker training however still won't let me touch or come to close the baby on the other hand is a sweety litter lover.. how do I go about bonding them because I am afraid to let them to close they are next to each other in their cages and they seem to be trying to bite each other beak's but they are both fluffed, I just don't know how to read this... SCARED!!

Biting each other’s beaks? I think they’re trying to feed each other. If they’re fluffed they are likely happy and wanting to be friends. This is great for them! But if you don’t want babies and have a male and female, that can be a problem. I hope this woman answers your ?s more in her upcoming KZread.

Can 2 stay in the same cage?

yes, but it also depends on the individuals. They have to be bonded. I have done videos on putting parrots together, if you look for them, you should have a good idea as to how to do so.

Cages - everyone needs their own home or safe space. But yes, they come out as much as I can let them out.

@Parrot Bliss he has never been cage aggressive thankfully. At the moment he is hormonal. Casper is a very lay back and lazy bird lol .. his favourite thing to do is sleep on my shoulder and demands head rubs.

Dear parrot friends. I'm looking for advice. I've just got home from the hospital. And I have dulima. The doctors say I'm allergic to my parrotlet. Any idea what I can do to keep the air allergens down. I refuse to rehome him. I was his rehome and I don't know how many times he's been rehome before. I ❤️ him with all my heart.
