Should You Only 1 of A Parrot 🦜 Species To Bond?

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

If you have more than 1 parrot 🦜 of a species, will it keep your parrot from bonding with you?
Two things will affect your bond:
1- the species of parrot
2- how much time you have to spend with your parrot or parrots
Of course, individual parrot personalities affect this too. However, these two factors are greater than anything else.

What are the tree branches that you use in all your bird cages? Please don't tell me to look on the internet the different kinds are contradicting and confusing. I want to know what YOU use. Thank you for your time this means the world to me. Joe, New Bern NC I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!!!!

My black headed caiques and white bellied caiques get along. At the same time I’d like to say, if I’m around they are all over me. All except Ivar who has decided he hates me. Luckily he adores my husband. I feed and water him and talk to him but l don’t try to pick him up. He likes to be around the others and watches them and calls to them but that’s it. I think you hit on a great point. Parrots are individual. They have their own personalities. When you get a bird you try to befriend it but the final decision is up to the bird.

Great advice! What about parakeets? Do you recommend getting a pair or 1 now and 1 later?

They are fantastic Birds! Frankly, with them you can do any combination Dash though I would still do 2. You can get one now get one later or get them at the same time. They are supposed to be the easiest to tame.

Also, do you think Ale prefers linnies or parrotlets? Does he get preened by the parrotlets? Would you describe the parrotlets or linnies as more of a 'velcro' bird?

I have a cape parrot he is 10 months. I also have a hahn's macaw but he is aggressive with other parrots. Do you think my cape could need another parrot as a friend? He can stay alone?

In my experience they can get lonely and needy if they don't have a friend. The best friend is another Cape so that they have a true companion for when you aren't available.

Thanks for the video! I have a quaker parrot, which parrot species would better fit with him please, generally speaking?

It depends - but look for a parrot about the same size. Another Quaker would be easiest and most likely best fit-- :)

The risks of not getting along is a lot smaller when it’s the same species and the same subspecies. As they speak to he same language and can communicate better.

Unpopular opinion time: I think it’s just wrong to get 1 parrot ONLY because you want to it to bond with you. That is simply selfish. Even if a bird will become “untame” it is the best for the bird. A parrot will be happier if he has a friend. There are so many side effects that can happen when you have them alone. Depression, plucking, stress, anxiety, screaming etc.

One parrot is no parrot. A human being can never ever substitute a fellow member of the same species. In Germany we consider keeping only one parrot of a species as animal cruelty, Best wishes from Germany

YES YES YES!!!!! I don’t care about a big cage, I don’t care about many toys, a lone parrot can not be a happy parrot.

Well, my caique has tried to murder every other caique I've tried to introduce (3 different so far.) And I really wanted to have 2. So, I'm breaking the law here in Sweden that states that you should have a pair. 😔 On the other hand, she is out with me flying freely all over the house at a minimum of 8 hours per day. (And yes, I do have a bad conscience.)

@787.86 yes... parrots like Senegals, lovebirds, caiques etc get aggressive when you kept them alone for too long as they are simply not used to it anymore
