[1 of 2] September 2005 riots in Belfast / Northern Ireland

In September 2005 Northern Ireland saw the worst rioting for decades. The riots followed a rerouted Orange Order Parade. The trouble came from the Loyalist/Protestant side. This is a report of the 11th of September 2005.

Universal responsibility is the realization that even our enemy is entirely motivated by the quest for happiness. We must recognize that all beings want the same thing that we want. This is the way to achieve a true understanding, unfettered by artificial consideration.

Ever thought of this one. Try getting to know your fellow countrymen. Just for once, listen to another point of view. 100 yrs ago, L,pool had the same problem. We all grew together and fought against the real enemy. Dont hide from each other in ghettos, your all actually the same. Beware the new danger from mecca

If I havn't got a clue then why is the UK the United Kingdom of Great Britain and N.I? N.I isn't part of Britain. I suggest you check before posting. Also look at the history of Ireland and you will see the Irish agreed to let Britain keep control of N.I.

A good idea is to read the history of Northern Ireland before you post comments. Things are very complicated but history cant be forgotten when history is a living part of every day life in the NI. One day NI will be a part of the Republic of Ireland but unfortunately there will be war before it happens. Those who wont see that will be surprised when the war breaks out.

It's not meant to offend, it just does. Maybe its because there's people in defiance of surrender to home rule, in which case I can understand you calling me an 'orange bastard'. It's just the way it is. People can go on till they're blue in the face about 'The North of Ireland' and 'Free Derry'. Fact is the country is part of the British colony. When the majority dont want the north, (chucky ar la and all that) it'll be handed back to the Irish.

The parade successfully walks the correct route year after year then change is proposed NOT by the parade organisers. In Northern Ireland this respone is understandable.

You know this video really helps to explain why rational people down here in the Republic don't want the six counties back. They are more trouble then they are worth. If the island of Ireland was a body, the six counties would be amputated.

Here's a fact: The population of this Island is lower now than it was in the early 19th Century. Immigration is not a problem. Our economy has never been stronger, the only Irish people who cant get a job these days are the ones too lazy to work. Ireland will always be Ireland, anyone who thinks that its culture will be destroyed by a tiny number of immigrants is just paranoid. Is our culture is really that weak?

I love arguing with fenians!! Oh by the way James Connolly didn't drive the black and tans out of anywhere and he didn't sign any treaties. This is largely due to the fact that he was executed in 1916. Maybe you should educate yourself a bit more about Irish history before calling other people ignorant.

The people of Norther Ireland are NOT British. Brits are English, Scottish and Welsh. N.I does not belong to Britain but it does belong in the UK as the name states clearly "The united Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" therefore Northern Irish are NOT brits. The whole attitude of people in Ireland towrds English is pathetic. N.I is part of the UK because the RI said it could! N.I is part of us fair and square and if it comes under attack it is the same as attacking england.
