In the UK is is hard to find the facts about the troubles and the plight of Ireland and the Irish So much propaganda and lies are told. Where can I find the truth about the IRA and the reality? I have heard Gerry Adams speak and he talks so much sense.

The Orange Order was formed to oppose the ascendancy of Catholics in Ireland after the Emancipation Act of 1829, fearing the Protestant community would lose ground to Catholics now free from the severely punitive Penal Laws the Order began recruitment to maintain their privileges and supremacy over the Catholic population, each member of the purportedly Christian Orange Order would take an oath not to have any business dealings or relations with anyone of the Catholic religion and their constant hateful rhetoric towards the Catholic religion over generations ultimately led to a very divided , sectarian society which eventually culminated in sectarian strife through the decades after Northern Ireland became a province separated from the rest of Ireland. As the demographics of the north of Ireland statelet evolved , Catholics became a sizeable minority and inspired by the American Civil Rights Movement they began to assert their own demands for one man , one vote, better housing, more employment opportunities and better social conditions and an end to economic apartheid in Catholic areas which was a deliberate policy of the Unionist Protestant parliament for over 50 years .

Really pleased to see most people in the comments seeking peace and reconciliation and forgiveness on both sides. I was brought up to view Martin McGuinness as the enemy and an evil man. I came to see him as a patriot who pledged his life to a cause he beleived in even if I did not agree. If he and Paisley could become good friends before the end why cannot we also? Here is to peace in Ireland...an Ireland that will, in my opinion, inevitably be united which will, again despite my feelings when i see my community and heritage lost, be for the best ultimately.
