I worked in Behavioral Health on a dual diagnosis unit at a hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. One night we got a guy who was a pilot for US Air. He checked out of his hotel in uniform one morning, walked back down the hallway & tried to get into a random room with his credit card. Hotel staff called police. His BAL was .37. He was fully prepared to get in the cockpit that day. He told me "I'm not proud of it, but I have been flying drunk for years. Most of my pilot friends are half in bag upon takeoff especially on early morning flights." I haven't flown since.

The worst for me is when I try to sleep. Legs cramp up all night..dumb songs play in my head. And the feeling of falling constantly wakes me up.

Detox for me was not the standard. I remember just being very tired and pretty much slept through it, but had to work on strengthing my body from being bedbound for at least 4 days. Thank you, God! I was so blessed when I went through it. 😇🙏🤍

The black stuff is melena. The Reaper may have come for you on a transitional day for him...felt sorry for you and cut you a break. Even the most evil can benefit from a second chance. You are not evil, but God bless you and make the best of your sobriety. My neighbor is the evil Antichrist devil's child...don't know if he drinks.

We are not alone. We all got our crosses to carry. Glad you fought off the booze demons. I find the "one day at a time" thing useful for my issues (not alcohol/drug-related). Fight the good fight!

I started Friday night and drank til Sunday night. Weekends for 5 years, straight. That doesn't mean I never drank during the week, I started after 5 when I got home and made myself stop at 11pm. I had to. I was petrified to be homeless and that was my drive to finally get to dexox and then rehab. Best thing I ever did. Thank you for sharing your words of wisdom, strength and courage. Proud of you!!

As someone who worked in the field....if you drink heavy.....DO NOT DRINK LIQUOR. Sure, beer will eventually do you in.....but liquor truly is quicker. To death. God bless you young man.....you drank to self-medicate.....you are doing a service to your fellow man, a fine example of giving of yourself freely under incredibly difficult circumstances. God bless.

You're already dealing with agony. At least the agony of quitting liberates you. For me, quitting hurt so much less than continuing to drink, almost immediately. Each drink only ensures continued feeling like boiled shit.

I have quit alchohol and have cleaned up my diet. Your story scared the shit out of me and was the wake up call I needed. God bless you and I hope the future for you is long and joyful and hopefully the technology improves to the point you can be your old self. Thank you. You are a blessing to so many people. Wish you the best dude.

I'm 12 years sober. I drank heavily and never was one to throw up when i drank but very seldom. I did, however, have seizures near the end of my drinking career. I came very close to dying after having two grand maul seizures upon going to the ER. Was in ICU for 2 days and on the verge of a coma. Docs were shocked that my liver enzymes were not near as elevated as they should be. However, I was told that you really don't know the state of your liver until you have a liver biopsy. Did they tell you that? I have an off and on dull pain in my upper right abdomen, and docs tell me they do not see anything of concern. However, I've had it since yr 2000. If I push down, I don't feel tenderness or enlargement. My former doctor told me I could develop cirrhosis at any time even though I no longer drink but because I once did. I don't have any other symptoms besides off and on dull pain. My spleen is normal, and my blood tests are normal. However, I have 24/7 afib and an abdominal aortic aneurysm that they say drinking could have very well caused. Blessings to you.

If you see on video how truly bad you look and act and talk to others when drunk, like ugly and disgusting and sad, for some people it's enough to stop altogether. Not worth ruining your relationships, job, future and not worth your kids remembering you as an alcoholic and being constantly anxious, ashamed and embarassed of their parent. This is a really good video.

Fatty liver and cirrhosis can develop with little warning until it’s too late. If you drink a lot you should get a check-up. You might identify a problem while it’s still reversible.

Hey brother i love checking back with you channel. I was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis when I was 29. Currently 30 i started off the year heavily over weight (367) currently at 224 with good diet and adding strength training and lots of cardio, i look the best iv ever looked, and i constantly am putting my diagnosis on the back burner and this channel reminds me to keep up the good work and keep my head on a swivel.
