Time to stop buying trash - buy a old car and build old school diesel/gas engines.. Made your own fuel ⛽ - point is to stop feeding the government your money 💰!

Thanks! I took my son (14 yrs old) to the Kansas Airstrip Attack last weekend and he decided he wants to build a Corvette to take racing he wants a Corvette with pop up headlights so I would say 90's early 2000's what year would you recommend. We want something that runs and drives but needs work 3 to 7 grand. He want to eventually take it racing.

My recent 1988 LincolnTownCar blew a head gasket ... finally ending a one year nightmare of repair, after repair. Ownership of five years was a thrill to own ... when running good.

Don't forget about serialized parts being incorporated into vehicles. There will come a time where every part will need to be paired via proprietary gatekeeping to the ECM or BCM to work. This software will not be shared with consumers or independent shops. It's the Apple formula, and it is an inevitability as cars are viewed more as software than hardware.

MyQ absolutely blows. It's horrible and I hate it. When you open or close our garage I get a pop-up, randomly, sometimes up to 20 minutes later. When I contacted support they said it was my internet and router. Yet, everything else reports instantly and consistently. MyQ then told me that if I paid the $15/mo for the app that the problem then goes away. BS....you are delaying the regular signal in an attempt to force me to buy your stupid service....at a cost much higher than any other service I have. Nope! I'll live without it...until today. I think Chamberlain sucks so bad that I'm willing to pay a third party to avoid paying them another dime. Screw you Liftmaster!

The problem with paying extra for technology is it always gets outdated or unsupported… I keep my life simple, basic garage door. I want to crack it, I pull the chains unlock and prop it up. Takes me 30 seconds….

The reason for api removed is because of continuity of service. The api's where not already working properly with the servers. The myQ app does control myQ devices the way they are ment to be.

Us RYOBI GDO owners are like: "we haven't had even app access for about 12 years now....." Have to check this out to see if it'll work with the two Ryobi GDOs I have - when liftmaster isn't discontinuing their hardware or deprecating their API's they're suing other companies in _their_ space - unfortunately, you really don't have other options for GDOs....

After your quick description, I've never clicked a link in a YT description so fast. I can't wait to get rid of MyQ. It's the worst. Garage lights stay on for 10 minutes after door open. That's enough time to unload groceries or whatever.

I see mostly hardwired devices; however, thieves using scramblers and brute signaling controllers and devices can bypass a lot of the "wireless" security systems in use today. Just my two cents as to why hardline is certainly the way to go 🥂

I think something you’re missing is… Chamberlain sells My Q device for $20 on Amazon. Any garage door becomes smart, no matter the age. ALLLLL this niceness I paid a premium for when I built in 2018, is now a $20 device, all my neighbors put in far a lot less than I paid for my opener. Every kid on my street comes and goes by their My Q app and their parents can get notifications. Their servers probably are crashing. And they’re happy because the more they sell, the more they hold everyone hostage to THEIR software.

    1. As someone who used HPCs for work, I would never wire/wireless up my home & garage like that. Decreased security, increased complexity, and greatly increased repair costs are a PITA. You need ONE remote for ONE garage door and then go inside and open the others you need. 2. I finally had to replace my 29YO genie screw drive with a shiny new OHD model, belt drive. Were my old Genie available new, I would have preferred that.
