I PAID A Guy In His BACKYARD $650 To REBUILD This Transmission... Will It Work?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

According to the internet this is the most perfect truck built in the last 20 years a 2006 GMC Sierra work truck without a single option. I bought this truck for just $1,500 and while it technically runs and drives, it needs a transmission to actually go anywhere. Now it's time to fix the 4L60e that's slowly moving towards all neutrals.

Hi John. Ok so here is a little story: in 2006 a local Chevy dealership had an ad where they would give you some crazy trade in amount on anything that you could drive onto the lot. That combined with a bunch of manufacturer an dealer discount should have allowed me to get a brand new 2006 work truck with a 6 cylinder and a stick-that was all I wanted, and even the short bed would have been fine, but it did not have air conditioning. That one would have been $7,750 Still a smoking deal. Almost got it, clearly click bait I guess for 18 years ago. I asked what was the next step up. It was basically what you guys are working on. V8, auto, 8 foot bed and air conditioning. I was out the door including tax for $10,200!! I had it for 2 years put about 4,000 miles on it-actually it was loaned out to friends more often than me using it! Very handy but not getting a ton of use. I think I could have power braked the right rear tire off in about 3 minutes if I wanted to! I had it over 100 more than once, and it was awesome to pass people on a highway! I doubt 0-60 was much under like 8 seconds. In the end I got tired of looking at this basically brand new truck being parked in front of my house (I had several other cars and trucks at the time too) A contractor that was doing some work for me asked if I would sell it-I think I got $15,000 for it. So basically a free truck. I would do that again if I could!! What are you saying, new basic ones are like $40,000? 4x in 18 years. Wow! Good luck with yours!

Nothing all that mysterious about rebuilding an automatic. Very few special tools needed and some you can make yourself. It depends on the time it takes plus how many hard parts are shot in addition to the usual rebuild parts that get changed every time. If it was just slipping some and not totally destroyed, the cost isn't too bad. Cleanliness is important.

Why wouldn't it work fine? It's a 4L65E! The more rebuilded transmission in the US i guess! Everyone could rebuild one ....not that hard to do. Anyway, 800usd with TC included is cheap af for sure. That right there tells you he is not using upgraded parts inside, but it's ok. They work just fine with std parts...just live longer with upgrades. Pre-filling the TC, that's not really needed. It's an old school tip, but if you fill safer doing it, just go for it. You aren't doing something wrong there...for me the worst part of pre-filling is that if you pour more than a Qt inside the TC, it might drip a little when you install it in the gearbox, and that could be misunderstood as an oil leak. So, that's why i prefer installing them just with a drop of oil. Nice camera...it looks awesome. Keep up the good work guys, peace!

The 727 is pretty easy and usually can take a lot of abuse but because of the stage two shift kit and driving it like I stole it with a healthy 318 with some bolt ons I was able to break it a couple of times.
