💯 Did the exact same thing. So hard to relearn! Still working at it.
What 40 wpm! I thought I was doing well at 30 wpm 😂 73 Phil G0BVD
That's a really good tip. Enjoying this series!
It's gorgeous there!
Thanks Vince!
Great review, just downloaded iFTX working great on my qmx transceiver just one question how do you change power settings from 10w to 5w. Have tried and clicked save but keeps going back to 10w any suggestions?
Thanks, I need to check this out!
The mosquitoes in Canada are no joke. Went to the Cape Brenton in NS one summer and set our 6 man tent up in about 2.5 seconds. WOW!!
Get on the air for sure, most people you meet will be glad to help you.
Never has a KZread video been more timely. Thanks!
Perfekt, vielen Dank, Philipp. Viel Spaß beim Amateurfunken!
Our mosses require air traffic control....two of them can easily lift the rig and shift it.......................
Thanks for the vid Vince! Have you tried it in the truck with your 857? W8KBM
Not yet that's next up
how are you streaming / recording the phone UI?
Screen Capture, built into iOs
Ooooooooo. Secrets unleashed
How soon before someone comes up with a version of JS8-call!!!??
Very cool Vince! Now if I could use a usb c cable to plug my iPhone 15 directly into my QRP Labs QMX and run FT4 or FT8 directly between the two, that would be the bees knees …
You can! Lightning to audio, camera or multimedia adapter I think it's called? VE6TD does it that way.
He needs to put a post about that on his web site!!
I added a link in the description to KD7DTS' video where he lists the cables needed
A timely video. Yesterday I was contemplating using my sadly neglected KX3 for POTA use. But to run FT8 would be too complicated. I’ve got used to running SDR connect mobile on the IC 705. But now there’s iFTx. I’m going to have to try it. Thanks de VO1OK.
great explanation ,tu Vince.
I wonder how it will work with a QRP Labs QMX?
That is cool! Downloaded and going to give it a try on my mcHF qrp rig. Thanks for sharing Vince .
Ha! Gotta watch this. 🙂
they work GREAT. just go buy them Lidi
This is great!!!
What is a cw?
Amen! Tnx Jim es Vince
Jim is the best! I find him on a park almost every day and some how he manages to copy me in the middle of the pile up. Me using QRP =]
Ed was the second instructor I had at LICW. He's a gem. He's a great instructor and good person.
Get rid of it !!! Had a printed cheat sheet early on and learned from Ed that I should get rid of it and focus on character and word recognition.
great advice.
Good stuff! Thanks, Vince!
great answer, one of the best in my opinion.
A nice round up of some useful items. Thanks for making the video. I subscribed.
Nice - I might have to build this! Didn't see a link to the AI6XG build notes page.
thanks for catching that missed link - fixed :)
@@VE6LK Looks like the wire lengths on the linked KE6MT page are quite a bit different than those in your video: 32'4" vs 30'10" on the first leg 5'6" vs 3'10.5" on the middle leg 8'0" vs 6'9" on the final leg. Curious what actual lengths you wound up with...
Feedpoint to 20m trap: 354 1/2" or 29' 6 1/2" 20m to 30m trap: 45" or 3' 9" 30m trap to end: 80 1/4" or 6' 8 1/4" My traps showed their lowest SWR point of 1:1.1 at 9.944MHz and 13.90MHz respectively.
Neat antennas! Thanks for sharing the links.
Great quick and easy to understand tutorial! Thank you Vince.
Aaron is a good fella. I like his laid back style. I have made comments on his videos and he is very encouraging to new folks in CW like myself.
🐟
Merci, Philippe. @+
Aaron is one of the main channels I watched as I was learning CW and working up the courage to get on the air. He makes great content. I agree - don’t overthink it. Growth mindset is critical with learning something new and CW, while challenging, will reward you with the effort you put in each day. 73
No cool intro music this time? Thanks for sharing this!
every second counts - and that's 8 of them - so it had to be binned.
I am pretty sure he was the first person I saw on KZread, or anywhere else. Operating CW QRP in the field, and that lit the fire for me to wanna learn CW….many years later I am finally doing it. The goats were cool.
the goat!!!!
That advice scares me.
One day you'll be ready to take the advice -- trust me on this.
@@VE6LK I’m trying Mr. Vince, but the perfectionism fault runs strong in me.
Food for thought Jason: "Don't let perfection be the enemy of good enough" If you recognize the 26 letters, 10 numbers and 4 basic punctuation marks(. , ? /), you are ready enough to make mistakes on the air like the rest of us. Lemme know when you want to do one over Zoom - I'm here for you.
Ha, even after four years of learning, and getting on the air when I can, it's still hard for anything beyond POTA or SST for me. As much as the "get on the air message" message works for some, it bums me out that people don't seem to recognize that it doesn't work for everyone. everybody's brain works differently, and not everyone thrives in the trial-by-fire type of environment. Vband has been a nice almost get on the air for me, along with regular attendance of LICW classes (after completing CW Academy's first level class).
I should clarify that I really enjoy Howard and understand that it does work for a lot of people :-)
Ryan, I agree. "just get on the air" didn't help me at first either, but it continues to make more sense. There are a whack of tips in this series and perhaps one of the others will resonate with you. In creating these I've picked up on a half-dozen that have really made a difference for me. 73

The man... The legend!
Hey! Who is that famous guy!?
some dude who strolled in off the street
Hi Great stuff Also I understand that the short codes are going completely from the 8th June . From your set of instructions, you show how to submit changes after making those changes twice. You don't need submit changes on each page within the phones Web interface. You can make a number of changes then press to submit to change those settings. It's the same process as seen on this great and useful video for your other endpoints , like MicroSip and Groundwire, for your cellphone. For users of other phones like polycom, Yealink & Fanvil you can only make one change on one page of the Web interface at a time. Unlike the 525g2 where you can make multiple changes and submit changes once . Plus it's a bit cheeky we have more than one network for ham operators , like AmateurWire & Hams Over IP. Which are freely available to any ham that has spare lines available on the hardphone. Thank you for a great video 73 de Mark 2E1CEQ
VINCE 👋😎
thanks eh
I have a 5 digit number so I am not affected by this. 73
Correct, it only affected those of us with a 10 digit extension.
I have a 4-digit number, early adopter here. --n1bs
