Hey, I have a 200 psi Husky air compressor. Is that fine as well ? Its pretty loud but I dont mind the loud… just making sure I can use it
For airbrush usage? Even if its for small work
@@BigPlayaa2 You will just need to Adapt to an airbrush. ANd at the least you should put a moisture filter in if you dont have an air dryer. Id personally run a line off it and use a moisture filter regulator at point of use. And one at the airbrush. I have a video about converting a compressor to the 1/8inch BSP for an airbrush
@@TheAIRspaceThanks man, ill check out that video right now. So as long as I have a moisture filter ill be able to freely use the airbrush with the compressor?
He's back!! Missed seeing you on here Bill. Great video. How have you been?
One of my dogs got cancer, and we had to do a pretty major surgery.. SO life has been taken up with some of that. And i got several pet portraits to work on. So i've not been painting much outside of direct customer paintings for a bit. But ive been missing making videos and this topic came up again. I hate to make promises that ill be reliable, because well my life is chaotic at best :0 But I intend to get back to making videos.. i may even get on a weekly schedule someday :)
@@TheAIRspace I'm so sorry Bill. I love my dog more than anything on the planet, so I understand the sacrifices that we will make for our dogs. Any improvement? I hope he/she is doing a bit better. Glad to see you back.
@@theartworkshop for now hes doing great. we go on car rides every day. I joke with my wife I put more miles on the car driving the dogs than I do for me now. He does have cancer but its not a very aggresive type. But he will get sick again. we had a spleenectomy which was a very large tumor. And unfortunately the spleen is very vascular so the cancer cells are in his body. We just dont know Surgeon said a year would be the very best case. But for now, hes my annoying little troublemaker. I have two Male dogs. One is the best behaved lovey 85 pound baby. And Rico is about 65 pounds now At his prime he was over 70 pounds of unbridled wild child. I used to joke.. he listens to me about 90 percent of the time and everyone else never. Hes still pretty energetic and patrols the back yard for bunnies and squirrels The rest of the time he begs for treats and demands his play time.
Hi Bill ! I refuse to REMEMBER how many airbrushes I own ! 'Been buying up 'neglected & abused' airbrushes for a couple years now - it's AMAZING to me how CHEEEEEEEP some of them end up costing , * besides the bit of lacquer thinner & cotton swabs . . . bit of time & effort - YOU "KNOW" . . . the FUN , FIDDLY WORK ! I have a background as a machinist , & understand TOLERANCES very well . Recently , I've been toying with the idea of NICKEL PLATING to 'FIX' poorly fitting airbrush assemblies . "MAYBE ? ' . Nickel can plate up to .00196 . . . other metals can do MORE . . . 'just a thought to pass on to you ! There is absolutely NO DOUBT that TOLERANCES can vary WIDELY - take 2 minimum & maximum parts that 'fit' . . . one minimum & one maximum of each . . . One pair of parts will fit 'OK, ish' , while the other will be wobbly as hell ! Thanks for taking the time to read this - I love BINGE watching your channel - "V" PEACE !
yeah pulling out a pin gauge on some manufacturers nozzles can be eye opening. And is the reason one person can review a brush very highly and another complain of poor performance. GSI and IWATA And Sparmax and H&S tolerances are very close as to in and out of spec. Ive had a lot, a ridiculous amount of airbrushes over time in fact. I go through periods of wanting to slim them down and usually give away Some. I think im around 20 ish right now. But some of my grandkids wanted some, my won wanted to paint lures so he got some. I had a couple giveaways and I sold a few. Ive been seriosly considering machining down a 183k, opening up the base and soldering a solid cup and nickel plating the whole thing. Part of me knows thats madness, but the tinkerer thinks it would be fun. IM no machinist, but with a lifetime working trades and playing with engines and woodworking i have some small skills.
At last someone with sensible explanation. Thank you Bill.
I got motivated after coming across a video that was absolute nonsense,, saying clean and lube your needle and addressing nothing to do with the actual reason bubbles happen. Honestly i should have made this video years ago, i always thought theres lots of videos on the subject... however ive never watched them so i have no idea if they are good or bad :0
KZread doesn't show me your vids in my subs...
The algorythm is choosey. it wont show or send notifications to all videos for all subs. Although to be fair its been over 3 months since ive been uploading. weve had a lot of family stuff happening.
Thank you for the tutorial👍
Wat if you lose the little washer from the nozzle a the top keeps blowing off when pressing air but no paint?
Thanks for the info, helped me decide on if I should buy a new material or not.
Thanks for your time. I'm brand new to airbrushing and learning a lot from you. When you use colors that aren't obvious to newbs like umbers and siennas could you explain them a little better?
umbers and sienna are pretty basic artistic colors. But each brand is going to be a little different in shades. I try and list colors when painting just so people can know what im using. Getting people to learn to mix colors has been challenging. ive made more than one video on the subject. And those remain some of the least watched videos ive made. Unfortunately. Because color mixing is really a foundational skill. If you search "the real color wheel" And download the one for pigments it has notations showing where different paints lay out in relation. Also a quiller wheel is another good reference.
@@TheAIRspace thank you for the fast response. I'm going to look up the recommended videos. You are an awesome artist and I will continue to follow you. Thanks again!!!
👍👍👍👍👍
Fácil??? Omg
Hello bill , what is the paper you use for the training ?
really i couldnt say. you can paint on anything cheap to practice. I early on bought a huge roll of butcher paper and would roll it like a paper towel roll
@@TheAIRspace thanks 😘
the part of the bones that are behind the head of the skull (those that form the typical X) They are very blurred....they get lost in the background.
Increíble
It doesn't beat the Iwata Micron .18mm. I have all the good brush out their. I'm waiting on the Infinity 2024. But it will not have the same head and nozzle. They already stated the the new nozzle will would with think paints. Harder & Steenbeck are slow. They stated the new Infinity 2024 be out in April this year then they said first half of this year. Now I am hearing the second half of this year.
Awesome eagle Bill.Nice job
Muy bonito enhorabuena. en que papel pintas ? Muchas gracias
Could you please speak a little bit louder,at various times your voice fades in and out, great job ,absolutely love your work, I'm learning so much from your tutorials! Thank you for showing us your techniques.
Sound was a big issue for me when i made this video. I am definitely aware of it. I have newer videos that mostly have solved that issue. Thank you!
I went to the scrap yard and pulled three (just in case) compressor units from trashed refrigerators. All three worked, and I built silent compressors with them. Used scrapped fire extinguishers/freon tanks for the air tanks. They work amazing.
Again nice job Bill.
Thanks❤
Thank you so much!!
New sub here , Old hand at airbrushing though - pushing 70 years , but not slowing down with LEARNING ! 'Been binge watching your REVIEWS , along with a good deal of techniques you employ - - - I've been an experimenter most of my life ! Whatever WORKS , "WORKS" ! Here's a touch of "SMOKE" for you - I'd suggest that 'artists' that deal with inks , dyes , & watercolors "CAN" get away with a small tank compressor - provided they've got the 'learnification' / (experience) , to use an airbrush that can take LOW PSI operation , & can properly thin their material(s) to flow right . Thanks for sharing your time with us - & dispelling so much of the "MARKETING WANK" ! * I ran a ONE MAN sign shop for almost 15 years - mostly using 1-SHOT lettering enamels , ** Back in the 'good ole days ' , when it contained LEAD ! Nothing I've ever sprayed has been it's equal , . . . except MAYBE some of my home brewed 'colored VARNISHES' . . . slick as glass when the formulae is RIGHT ON ! Thanks again , Bill !
Hello, is the Sagud and Gaahleri airbrush the same or do they have any differences?
Brand new here, have an airbrush machine coming in this week so I’m trying to gain some knowledge considering the fact that I’ve never airbrushed before 😂😂😂😂 but I’ve welded and I’m a bit of an artist 👩🏾🎨 I’d like to say 💁🏾♀️ so I’m going to be coming here often! Ty for the theatrics by the way 😂😂😂😂😂
That was awesome. Very nice work, that you make look super easy. Even though it had to have taken years to get that good.
If you practice them a few minutes a day, probably 3-4 weeks to feel comfortable with them. a couple months and they would be very natural. I cant say I bother practicing anymore. But I can lay off for weeks and come back to it. During my slow periods I go days without painting anything. Even weeks. Around the end of the year towards christmas though im painting 7 days a week. These 4 excercises though are fabulous at getting a great deal of ground covered. Combined with some redactive techniques you can get a picture pretty lifelike really fast.
Thanks for the videos. I just bought my first two airbrushes - badger patriot and anthem. So, to get up to speed I've been watching video tutorials. Anyway, was just listening to videos in the background while organizing my shop, and I heard you mention some Createx products, which peaked my interest because they happen to be the brand I just purchased to start out with. So, I started to listen more intently, and pretty good so far. It might have been nice to have heard some of your airbrush reviews before I bought mine, even though they seem to be sound choices, according to all the other resources I have reviewed. So, thanks again. I'll continue to watch on, as I get the impression that you know what you are talking about.
dude your art talent is sick!
Thank you!
I just bought my second California air tool compressor after 7 years with my first one.
7 years is a good service life!
I love the Createx wicked paints when I see them on a model but I have never been able to get it to airbrush right for whatever reason. I just don’t get it.
Great video. Thank you.
Thank you!
But amazingly done.
if the light comes in that peak , should it not light up the road? it is way to dark below....
if you look at 34:30 i think you will see its not as dark as appears on camera. this was shot with an original iphone SE and my studio lighting was not great 4 years ago. But at the end of the day, this was a fairly quick general how to based on a photo a viewer sent to me. (im pretty sure it was just a digital art piece originally)
Brilliant tutorial Bill. You have a knack at making learning fun👍
SIR, I want to thank you... your videos have got me back into airbrushing. i use to air brush back in the late 80s i was 20 years old, and painted in Patrick Nagel style... this video helped me so much in getting a real compressor that i don't have to stop every 30 min to let it cool down... bought a Zugzwang Silent Air Compressor Oil Free 1 HP 3 Gallon, its a bit heavy but dang does it full up fast and hold plenty... thank you. looking to learn some dif techniques from your videos... Patrick Nagel was fun but I want to try something new...
Unfortunately, Iwata discontinued these. Is there anything that comes close? I found some of these on clearance and I love them for hand-brush stuff - that perfect combo of fluidity, opaqueness and quick-drying for what I'm trying to do. But I couldn't find them anywhere to get more in colors I didn't have. I contacted Iwata and they confirmed that these are gone now.
Iwata indeed discontinued these and went the route of model type paints Acrylic inks are going to be the closest thing to Com Art. Depends on which country you are in on which would be best. Something’s in the USA are not available in the uk and Spain and same in reverse
@@billkennedy1220 Thank you for the reply! I am in the USA, yea. Do you reccomend any specific brands of opaque acrylic inks?
What colour are you using?
Thanks! Im using my shop compressor with 1/8th adapters and water condenser like yours.
Hey Bill. Could you provide a link to the toolkit you recommended in the video, please? Thank you kindly.
Between the time I bought mine and the time i made this video, they no longer sell that set in the USA... Naturally. There is this set, but it does not come with the larger diameter needle packing screw. But it does have grease, nozzle and air tool. s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DeAPkdd You can order just the packing wrench and the air valve tool very cheaply. which is what I had for a long time, but the larger diameter tool is the right one for my eclipse. Noone i have found so far makes a 1.3 which some airbrushes use. the 1.2 1.4 combo is the same size iwata uses in their toolkit. The iwata kit is great, And comes with soft pliers and a nice case. But it is pretty expensive. I had one, and left it somewhere long ago. Sooooo i havent replaced it as of yet. :/
I did get something out of this! Thank you!!
i felt this deserved its own video, simply because telling people over and over again, and them seeing me paint really doesnt break it down. And hammer home the importance. I honestly should have made this video when i first made a channel :0
Very informative, ive am thankfully for u!
Silence is golden on matter where.😊
Would these be good for use on tshirts?
No these wouldnt be a good t shirt paint.
So you can use denatured in place of ipa?
Hola compre mi Master airbrush y solo tira aire no el color esta nuevo no se porque
heeeyyy....nice review. i appreciate the psi/timer, which is telling and made me disappointed in the fortress. I was looking at the 2 gall. I'm looking at getting a new compressor, currently have California Air Tools 8010A Aluminum Tank 8 gallon. My thinking was it was quiet enough (its NOT) and the tank size is enough where it doesn't cycle as much (slow leak nothing I can do about it unfortunately so negates teh tank pretty much), which in turn doesn't produce enough heat, which is less water in system, but also out herein Cali 1hp wattage costs a LOT so the less it runs, the btter. So had that compressor for 2 yrs and looking for new one. I guess my wants are too rigorous, I want ultra quiet, large tank size, qualitative build (no slow leak with all my trouble shooting i did). I went from the as186 clone to the CAT one, 1 hp is too much (wattage/loud). (.5) Hp seems good enough since I spray at 15-20psi normally with occasional 25psi so I don't mind having it chug for a min to fill a larger tank (at least 100psi). I have different AB that are different "efficiency" with air (Eclipse to gaahleri ranging from .2-.5) so how 'fast' I drain the tank depends on what I'm doing. My sessions tend to be all day (prime base coat) since I spray many pieces (Master grade Gunpla which ranges from 200-600pcs). I also entertained the thought of retrofitting my CAT one with a diff motor, dunno how 'hard' that would be. Plus I also saw that having the motor on top of the tank makes it louder compared the Fortress setup as example. also thought of the GSI Creos linear compressor L10 but max psi is 20 and seems finicky, but its quiet (briefly tested an L7) and wattage is low (60ish). I also entertained the thought of saving up my money and buying a silentaire 8 gall (oil and all) which go for around 1500ish. Silence is $$$$$. That's where I am. Thanks for the vid.
Thank you very much for this informative video! I hooked up everything like you said and it works fantastic! I am currently running one airbrush and wanted to know how much pressure do I set the compressors' regulator to as well as the regulator next to the airbrush. Please let me know and keep up the great work, thank you again!
I usually set the compressor regulator around 60 for regular airbrush stuff, and the second regulator at anywhere from 15-40 depends on what im working on.
@@TheAIRspace Perfect! Thank you for letting me know.
This was extremely helpful thank you very much - I’m learning airbrush with some wrist /thumb joint issues
having to airbrush in a carpal tunnel brace for a little bit very quickly made me change my habits! Im glad this helped!
Brother my heart actually skipped a beat to see you hit the best airbrush in the world ! I’m not kidding I seriously almost cried to watch that ! It’s like those puppy neglect videos ! But for air rushers ! 😢
yeah it was meant to be a little jolting, no serious harm done however :)
