    I appreciate that he is a working writer but when i looked at WHAT he has written I admittedly lost some belief in his experience. I know thats wrong but it was my first reaction.

    Not sure where you are getting your information. Paul's bio is in the info section above. Here is his imdb - www.imdb.com/name/nm0158328 The Twilight Zone is one of the most iconic shows of all time.

    Talking in absolutes--you must have a climax before I consider your project viable AND mixing metaphors--the character must be between a rock and a hard place/banana/lightbulb moments/schmuck bait--is your pedagogical style? And you provide no examples from extant films or books? Everything is crystal clear, guru! Say more!

    Some of us have no interest in getting noticed or being hired as a full time screenwriter. We just have a story that needs to be told.

  • @filmcourage
    @filmcourage7 сағат бұрын

    We can understand that. Though we must ask, why write screenplays? Why not short stories or novels?

    @@filmcourage In my case, it's because I was involved in a video production with a dearly departed friend who was a great storyteller. Of course, I would like this story to be told. That doesn't mean I want to move to LA or write screenplays for a living. I love this channel. But some of the salty Hollywood people you feature have read so many bad screenplays they don't think it's possible for someone to write a good screenplay out of the gate. Well, this channel, along with AI, is going to prove the conventional wisdom wrong, IMHO.

    Thank you so much for this, it has helped me in the editing process with my novel, The Golden Ass (the ‘ass’ is based on a former president (guess who). I was having difficulty with the final act of the novel, but this video made me realize what was missing. The way you phrased the points crystallized the structure. Thank you so so much!

    What he said at 5:25 is exactly what my mentor told me that inspired me to go to film school and become an indie filmmaker. I used to be the lead singer and lyricist in a couple of bands in Sacramento before coming to LA to find or start a new one. When I lost my ability to sing as well as I used to, I was devastated emotionally. My mentor in addition to being a brilliant playwright, screenwriter and director, it turns out is also a songwriter, as is his wife, so he told me about song structure and film structure being very similar, and said "I'll bet you could do it, if you try." Not to be dropping names. but just for the record, my mentor in this story is David Mamet.

    Only in USA and Europe film festivals make a good revenue from film entry fees... in Asia they don't have high fees and still show great movies...

    Great insights from Blayne Weaver! I loved the honesty and humor he shared about the film industry. The parts about Matt Damon's words of wisdom and the struggles of dealing with criticism as an artist really resonated with me. This interview is a must-watch for anyone looking to break into the film industry or just learn more about what it takes to succeed.

    How come he never mentioned anything about creating your own films in your own community? You hire actors, writers and crew members in your own state and put the finished product on KZread or Vimeo? In my opinion, if Hollywood is that difficult to get your break, create your own projects and persevere; even if you have to make them outside of Hollywood. You can take what you have learned from filmmaking videos and use the information in your own state.
