MoDXtra: Games and Collectibles
MoDXtra: Games and Collectibles
I make videos about the nerdy stuff that distracts this massive nostalgic man-child from real life...
I play with & photograph action figures...
I collect trading cards...
I display nerdy statues...
I relax with a good tabletop game...
I read loads of comic books...
...and I make videos about them all!
I love to unbox and review the latest bit of wooden, paper or plastic joy that drops through my letter box, as well as dig through my old boxes of collectibles to get all nostalgic and remind myself of past joys.
If you, like me, are stuck in a constant state of arrested development and never truly grew up, then this might just be the channel for you!

Popped into Forbidden Planet London on Saturday and they had one Cable left on the shelves so he’s obviously a popular one!
I reckon so. He’s one of those ubiquitous X-Men characters, especially for 90s readers.
It's a cool looking figure but I think I prefer the cable that was part of the BAF Sasquatch series
I think I do too - much more 90s X-Factor looking. But I’ve read plenty of stuff with Cable in this get up so it’s serviceable for now. I’ve got my fingers crossed (I think I said this on tape?) for an X-Men 97 Cable release next year in the Leifeld look. 🤞🏻
I've used this background in around 30 of my G.I. Joe: Classified Series reviews. I just stuck the wall section into the tabs and pushed em out. In 2022. Not using it currently, but it still works and is unbroken. Great video and segment!
Cheers. I’ve found it a bit tricky to use as the size is a bit small for my “in frame” shots, but it’s served me well as a little shelf enhancement.
@@MoDXtraGC I keep saying I should get a second to create a double wall but there's always actual figures to buy.
Would be amazing if they’d reissue this one.. there’s so many on eBay for $100+
Really!? Wow - I had no idea. I generally don’t follow the secondary market price for stuff I have LOL 😂 This fig will form part of my kid’s inheritance!
Now we need Lifeline! Great review my friend!
I would LOVE a Lifeline. I have fond memories of Lifeline appearing in old Action Force comic storylines. I totally agree! :)
🤩 Excellent poses especially accompanied by the background music. 🙌
Thanks so much :)
Yep, he's definitely cool!
Cool video, just popping in to drop a comment and support the channel through engagement
Thanks Bradforever - really appreciate that. Pleasure to have you here 😀
Cool figure 👍👍👍👍🍔🥤
Yes, he's absolutely awesome!
I will probably give her a Snake Eyes sword so she has an Arashikage symbol present. I’m surprised they didn’t try to work one in. The sword sheath she has is reuse from movie Snake Eyes. I can’t tell if it’s a reuse of the Morning Star sword. It looks to be a good figure. Needs more ab crunch. I’ll put it through the wringer when I get one.
Hi Prophet. Thanks for hanging on stream last night and thanks for swinging by to check out my pre-recorded vid selection. :) The ab crunch is tricky - some of the more gymnastic ninja-y style poses I've tried haven't quite been pulled off. It's functional, but you're looking for a little more sometimes with the martials arts folks. What does "put it through the wringer" look like? What kinda stuff do you do with your figs?
plumbing...
Errr... electricals...?
Great review Chris. I’m looking forward to getting this wave! @sharkeyestoyview experienced some issues with his first NC. One of the pegs on his backpack was warped and the crossbow wouldn’t mount on it…. Looks like yours might be similar! Cheers
Oh yeah? I was going to go back and watch Shark Eyes review now that I've done my own, but just didn't get around to it. Interesting that we've both had similar squiffy bits, especially as he's got a batch that went to Australia and I've got a batch that came to the UK. I wonder if it's just a common problem all round...
...back in the early wants, I was so disgruntled thinking that he had been neglected in the line. Them when he was announced, i was highly excited. Now I'm anticipating his delivery. Very thorough review. Much appreciated.
I'm happy for you @MAGEtvPTB - I've got a few early wants yet to come, but those that have arrived made me real happy too. I'm glad you've got this little slice of excitement - that's awesome! :)
I think Joe is Hasbros best line of figures.. even when they’re “lazy” they’re no where near as lazy as say Marvel Legends. That being said.. if they want to keep making these deluxe sets they really should not use reuse for them. Maybe I’m just being picky but I find it more “acceptable” when the figure is under 30 dollars. When we go up in price then maybe make new and original sculpts? The legs are unacceptable imho.. its Roadblocks legs from possibly his first figure? lol… No guys, I really like the Joe team at Hasbro. Unlike most teams there I think they are fans and they care.. so I’m gonna hold them to a higher standard. I’ll get him eventually but he’s a big “wait for a discount” character. Great review. And honestly, I’d rather they not give figures backpacks if they’re gonna just super reuse them. Give them packs that make sense or don’t bother giving them a pack.
I entirely agree. It's absolutely Hasbro's best line, but you are right about the re-use because we then judge the line by its own, higher standard. The legs have been long surpassed by much better alternatives too - so the re-use seems like an all round odd choice. I believe this is your first time commenting - so thanks for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts. I appreciate that. Look forward to seeing you again around these parts :)
@@MoDXtraGC yep been watching a while, first time commenting. Good stuff! 👌🏻
☠☠☠☠ So excited to see this review. I've been on the fence about my preorder for this one. I have no nostalgia for the character, and there have been so many good figures coming out lately. Your review is definitely tilting me towards keeping the preorder. I'm with you, I love building out my ninja display.
Ha! I'm an enabler! He is loads of fun. The cool weapon load out really helps too. Ninjas are badass - gotta have more ninjas. Although I did skip Nunchuck...
I wish they would have through in a night creeper leader head with it
Do you mean Aleph, or the Orange head band dude?
@@MoDXtraGC in the Dic series he looks just like a regular night creeper except for instead of goggles he has a pair of sunglasses on and you get to see his chin and mouth. In the 3 and 3/4-in line they made him except for he had like tiger Force pants and a sweatband around his eye
Those two curved blades are called Karambit knives....just amazing fighting blades ... love them😊 The serpentine blades are okay for this figure. Cant wait for mines to be delivered so i could add him to my collection. Great unboxing and review video 👍
Cheers for he knowledge there Will. I'll endeavour to remember if they appear again in the line! (I won't, you'll have to remind me again LOL) I quite like the swords. They've got a different kind of menace about them. Gives the Night Creeper a bit of... edge #DadJokeAlert #CallMeaCab
Great review, Chris. You touched on some roleplay/posing questions I've had as well. I'm kind of tempted to pick up two and swap a head in. Do you think the 60th anniversary infantry head would fit comfortably? That would give me 2 medics to carry around the stretcher. I will also be strongly tempted to take off that vest. I did that to one of my Python Patrol TeleVipers, and he looked a lot better imo. Guess we'll see if I can find this guy in stores or have to wait for September when Pulse is scheduled to ship mine.
Thanks Curtis. Pop om over to the Discord - I just posted a pic of the head swap for you to take a look at. :)
This figure is definitely greater than the sum of his parts. But the one thing that I find silly/annoying is that the Joe team at Hasbro didn’t bother to change the naval themed belt buckle on the diaper piece. Unless Doc was a member of the Navy, which I don’t think he is. I’m wondering if the other diaper pieces didn’t look right or they just thought the second belt would cover the oversight and said “Nah, it’ll be fine” and called it a day.
Sadly I suspect it was the later. It's fine - the second belt is pretty good and covers it but there have been one or two times when I've taken a picture and realised its floating and the random sailor buckle is on show! All told though he's def a lot of fun. :)
🥊100% Rad & Absolutely Badass🥊
Big Boa's been so much fun. I love these wacky ones LOL
@@MoDXtraGC Yeah, he's definitely cool!
I'm really looking forward to Doc. He holds a special place in GI Joe to me because the original was the very first GI Joe I ever got as a kid. I like that he's a modern take on the classic design and I will have to play about with the pouches to get a configuration that I like.
Seems Doc has quite the fan club! Lots of folks like yourself Jake seem to have fond memories of owning Doc when they were younger according to the comments. I'm glad you'll finally be able to own a modern version of your very first Joe 😀
I'm waiting on the retro version that Hasbro's very likely going to make .
Sure. Might be awhile yet, I admire your patience. I suffer too much from the FOMO LOL
@@MoDXtraGC I appreciate that.
Yes, she's absolutely awesome!
Kickass ninjas are the BEST!
@@MoDXtraGC AGREED!
She looks nice but I've have to admit that i don't like figures that dont have straps for their swords or their backpacks .
For sure. I've come to accept it. I'm just gonna assume Jinx has a magical sword LOL ;)
@@MoDXtraGC 😂😂😂👍
Can’t wait to get DOC and Jinx. Another great review!
Thanks so much! I appreciate you taking the time to watch & comment. Please make sure you swing back around and let me know how you get on with them once you've picked them up. I hear they are starting to be seen in Walmarts across the US, if you're from around those parts of course. :)
@@MoDXtraGC I live in Wisconsin and my targets and Walmarts here never have stock. I have to preorder online mostly
So yeah broke the ‘code’ and watched this. So excited for Doc. He was an early Action Force figure for me. Agree with you on the load out. It does look quite cumbersome on him. Still can’t wait for him though.
LOL - I'll give you a pass! The 'code' is flexible amongst us ;) I'll keep an eye out for your take on him. I had the Action Force Doc too. The cumbersome vest situation is only minor when looking a the fig as a whole, and asides form the fiddly glasses I've had a great time with him!
Doc is a must have. A great looking figure. I agree maybe the vest could have been different. Overall he's a good figure.
Yep - the positives vastly outweigh the negatives here. The vest and glasses were worth mentioning, but I have had a great time with this figure this week! 😀
I wasn't hugely anticipating Doc, but this figure looks very solid. I like all of the gear on his vest. He's a walking hospital. Classified doesn't sell out very fast on BBTS, so I'm happy to pick him up some time in future, rather than rush to preorder him.
Nice. Swing back around and let me know if you grab him and how you get on. 😀
2:08 Sorry to be that guy, but the word is 'Asterisk'. Asterix is a comic character whose name is a pun.
You're on a mission to civilise my friend... I used to love Asterix & Obelix as a kid incidentally. Maybe that's where the moment I misspoke came from...
@@MoDXtraGC It's very common. Far more people know the character Asterix than know the names of all those little symbols. I'm just pedantic and can't let it slide. 😅
Absolutely love your character skillset explanations. Hasbro should make these the official one :D
I don't know what you mean - those are official... 😉😉🙈
Taken as a whole I think Doc turned out great and is a must own. My only issue with the figure is the vest. I think at this scale the addon pouches don't really make sense as they just end up being a bit too bulky and if you don't use them you have these huge peg holes in the vest. I wish the vest was removable or they gave him a vest from another figure that didn't have the removable pouches feature. But with that being said, overall he's still a great figure...can't wait to get mine!
I totally agree. Other than the moan about the vest and the glasses being a bit janky he's overall great and I've loved my man-child playtime with this guy. Thanks @Snowmation 🤘
@@MoDXtraGC :D
now that the figure has been spoiled I feel like I don't need it :)
Aw man - I hope I didn't spoil it for ya?
Great review. He looks awesome.
Thanks David! Appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. You planning on picking a Doc up?
Great review. Doc was always one of my favorites. YOJOE!!!!
Thanks Jason. :) Looks like from your thumbnail you were at JoeFest?
Yeah, that's not a naginata. A naginata is like a staff with 1 short katana style blade on an end. What Jinx comes with is more of a Chinese Kung Fu design and its name escapes me at the moment.
Cheers! Appreciate that. I'm sure someone will come along eventually and get the actual name over to me in time. Appreciate you taking the time to answer my question in the vid though - thanks :)
