Excellent video. I've run these for 55 years and I learned something from you today. If I may say one thing, buying 50/50 antifreeze is probably the biggest waste of money that you could do. Here in canada, it's the same price as concentrate. So I guess what I'm saying is you're paying just as much for half as much:-)
@TheKiltedHomesteader13 күн бұрын
Yeah, I can understand that. Our water comes from a well and has lots of minerals in it that can cause cooling system issues. This is why I use a premix.

Need to go out and buy one and not sure what direction to take.

I drilled and tapped my fill plug and added a zerk fitting, then used a air powered aro grease pump and pressure filled the steering box steering box in my '77 Ford 1600 that was leaking out of the shaft seal because the bushing was worn from carrying heavy loads with my loader and trying to steer with mystic g6 industrial waterproof grease that is so slick it's beyond slick, to the point it came out of the top of the steering shaft under the steering wheel, now id say that's pretty full! It's still a little hard to steer but always has been and takes a lot of force and about all you got when you have 1000lbs or more on the loader. But it doesn't leak and id say that packed full it's probably not shoving anything off. And it has a consistency of just a hare more thickness of the corn head and super super tacky. Made for excavators and heavy equipment joints to keep out moisture and stay connected to joints. It's synthetic, and a bit expensive, a 5 gallon bucket for my aro pump was $280 but it will last and I have a lot of equipment.

They have been running for 70 years why change the temperature they run at now? They run a fraction of the hours they used to.
@TheKiltedHomesteader5 ай бұрын
Good question. An engine will actually run more efficiently at a higher temperature however, when these were built, they often used alcohol as an antifreeze and above 160 degrees it would evaporate off faster. This is why they used a cooler thermostat back then. Again, a hotter engine (within reason) is actually a more efficient engine. I hope this helps!

If you want the best walk behind rototiller ever made in the world get a Howard Gem. They were selling for about $10,000 a piece when they quit making them. But you might pick up a used one pretty cheap. I found a barn find and fixed it up and went into business with it. They use the same blades that the tractor rototillers use. They have three speeds forward, one speed reverse, adjustable handlebars up and down and side to side do you keep footprints out of the tilled ground. They have a locking differential when the PTO is engaged. There are videos of some of them on KZread but those people don't know how to use them very well. And they weigh around 700lbs. And they have three different widths that you could buy, I think the widest was 36 inches. Mine was the 19-in for going through narrow gates. Howard was the company that first invented the rotary tiller. And they have been around the longest. I think Howard still makes the tractor mounted tillers.
