Not one card but a pair of cards together. season of the witch and Silent Arbiter. What happens.
Sygg river guide, my beloved <3 Not merfolk, voltron!!
Azor has always caught my attention plus that one archon detective from Murders at Karlov Manor
Heliod, The Radiant Dawn
Hanna, Weatherlight Captain Rexurring artifacts or enchantments is nice!
Umori and Lord Windgrace along with 60 other planeswalkers
Taigam
Shoutout to Zethi, Arcane Blade/ Chun-Li, Countless Kicks. Azorius Spellslinger, anyone?
Multikicker on the Chun-Li card was an excellent flavour win!
I may or may not counter spells simply cause there was too many words and I stopped listening halfway through the explanation...
Cards have been getting pretty wordy lately, sometimes taking the mental tax off is a valid reason to remove something haha
Now do Sphinx of the Second Sun. Everyone I know (including myself) played that card wrong until recently for some reason.
I actually covered it in a recent Short! Judging by those comments, it seems like most people didn’t know it triggers on your postcombat main phase but the extra step happens BEFORE the end step.
Noyan dar, roil shaper is my go to azorius commander
Id argue tanglemaggot isnt confusing in how it works, its just the rules of the game demand that auras/enchantments/attachment word it so. It attaches to a creature and sucks it until it dies, then switches target. If the targetting player has no creatures, it attaches to the player instead.
Yeah, the way that cards like Animate Dead and Necromancy work is pretty straight forward. The rules just have to bend over backward by changing card types and rules text haha
Personally, I like Daxos of Melatus and Henry Kiln
Daxos has always been on the cusp for me. I like him, but having to pay with the correct mana can be brutal. If he was printed a couple years later, I think he’d be insane.
I really like him because he's different from what other Azorius cmdrs do even by today's standards
Nadu should be banned imo. Like he’s hands-down one of the strongest commanders ever printed.
While I don’t think he’ll ever get banned in Commander (RC doesn’t like to ban for “power level reasons”), he definitely needs to go from Modern. An entire Nadu top 4 is such a bad look for competitive Magic. I’d like to see a Brawl banning too, but you never know. 🤷
@@JayoticMTG true true. Honestly what I hope they do, even though I know they won’t, is being back “Banned as Commanded”. Because Nadu is only a problem in EDH in the command zone imo.
Shorikai, Genesis Engine
Unctus and Curie are my personal favorite mono blue commanders, so far.
I love
Dragonlord Ojutai
They don't get any story lr anything but Kynaios and Tiro are cute and Halana and Elana are a fantastic couple too.
I get they’re from Theros’ distant past, but I’d like to see K&T return someday. Halana and Alena are pretty great too, even if they don’t have much in terms of lore.
The sky shark!
X is the shortest name. The value of X can be decided as 0. Thus making it nothing, not even _____.
But X is his proper name, not a variable! X=1!
Tobias Andrion, the only vanilla Azorious commander for your all vanilla creature deck :D
Kangee bird man
I see hex misplayed in the same way and the red green removal spell. Hex need 6 creatures total not up to six, sometimes you have to take a few of your own creatures.
It’s a pretty efficient removal spell, but Hex casts such a wide net that you often have to trip over it yourself haha.
Oh my god... the hero of bladehold fell to phyrexia. LORE NERD...
Lots can change on a plane at war for a decade lol
@JayoticMTG I have the entire late 90s to early 2000s book collection. I love reading the nemesis block especially, Gerrard Capeshin being a swashbucker aboard the weatherlight... i got lost a child. I absolutely love this kind of stuff. World building is so beautiful.
Ephara was my Azor Commander before Faramir, Prince of Ithilien. I also run Shorakai.
Even with the miss print i still love those brawl decks
I’d like to see something like them again, they were fun for what they were and the reprints of shock lands were much appreciated!
@@JayoticMTG yeah those reprints were handy
Why is _____ showing me pictures of his family that he keeps in his wallet?
Oh, he’s one of those dads smh 😂
Yorion
Bruna, Light of Alabaster - the first edh deck I ever built. I still play with the deck to this day.
Fynn is reality Fun!
I've been playing Isperia, Supreme Judge since her Guild Kit printing. No special synergies, just a lot of defensive value.
I've been loving Sasaya Orochi Ascendant. He's been running my Helix Pinnacle deck for a while and he is a HOUSE
yes
While I like the Time Spiral-esque keyword mixing, I don’t love it when eternal formats look unrecognizable every couple of years. I’d mostly agree with this now.
They're healthy for every legal format. A stale format is a stale game. If you stay the same forever, it just becomes a monotone and repetitive game that ends up just causing people to not want to play anymore. The only fix I see that R&D needs to do their actual job and not just allow the printing of whatever.
I think it’s fine to shake formats up a little, but there has to be a happy medium. The MH3 pro tour was an entirely new Modern format, the previous problem decks barely showed up and now you’re telling players that you need a new $1K+ deck every year or two to keep up?
@@JayoticMTG I agree that the price entry for modern is absurd. Wizard's needs to address this by bringing back MSRP and making sure costs are as low as they can be. They don't lose anything hy having an MSRP.
Sphinx of the Second Sun. The untap happens before the end phase, not immediately after the ability resolved
i've been really enjoying the new Jem Lightfoote! i built her as partially a typical draw-go deck, but it also runs a bunch of embalming, encoring, and eternalizing to create boards of tokens without having to cast any spells!
That’s pretty cool, it didn’t look at too great when I glossed over it but you can absolutely make it work with activated abilities and such!
Loving this series
Thank you! There should be enough to cover up to 3 colour, but we’ll see what happens as time passes.
Experience
I enjoy the odd experience counter legend they’ve added in supplemental sets over the years!
Triomes and channel lands. IDC about any of the other shit. It's all easily replaceable, but amazing utility lands arent 😭😭
Mana bases will get tougher, but I’m glad that Domain will be held back a bit. That new Impending creature from Duskmourn looks like it’ll become a staple in the deck though.
I still think Ranar the Ever-watchful is underrated.
Harbin, soldier tribal. It comes with quite the music playlist....
Jesters cap, hand of justice, balduvian horde
As someone who suffers from short term memory loss, chains of Mephistopheles and takklemaggot are my nightmare in mtg. Have a friend who plays Mephist. for the lols and silently weep every time it comes out.
That’s awful, they’d better be explaining it to you whenever it comes up.
rEaDiNg tHe cArD eXpLaInS tHe cArD
Unironically, that joke is awful. It’s not even entirely true anymore with all the Dungeon and Ring Temps You type mechanics, and it comes across as obnoxious as hell haha
@@JayoticMTG I know it’s super frustrating to hear that. And it’s always said by people who expect you to suddenly get on their level and ridicule you for not getting it.
you can also use flash creatures with ephara to help with those triggers instead of only using blinks
Yeah, you don’t have to run a hard blink deck. That’s just the easiest way to trigger her, but as long as you have creatures ETB every turn, you’re golden.
people told me i was crazy when i said bootleggers stash will do nothing the turn it comes out and not much unless you have seedborn muse out
I don’t get how Loxodon Smiter counters Aurelia’s Fury in any way.
It’s more that in order to actually use Fury as a removal spell, you’d have to pay at least 6 mana to kill a Smiter. It’s a bad removal spell, but a great tempo card, and Boros decks of the time were far too aggressive to make use of Fury.
I used Taste of Death with some newer players and they asked "What if I don't have 3 Creatures?" "They you do as much as you can"
We need a fateseal cameo
