I’m doing Oliver JR right now and the person who is playing Mr Bumble missed some rehearsals, so when it came time for him to yell the, ‘MORE!?’ line he did it really loud and I just burst out laughing and everyone stared at me.

Mr Bumble is played by Harry Secombe. He was Welsh. Which explains the God-tier operatic voice tone. What a singer.

01:20-01:29 - that look between Oliver and Bumble as if to say Oliver “Your not going to find anyone who’ll want me for the prices your selling me for.” Bumble - perhaps you’re right? He’d already knocked down the price from 7 gunnies down to 3.

Dickens’ religious critique shouldn’t be lost on anyone. The greedy beadle Bumble would rather sell Oliver than feed all the workhouse boys proper food.

Pennies, Pounds, Guinneas, and Shillings. So, 19th century England had four types of currency?
@madabbafan21 күн бұрын
Not strictly. There were 12 pennies in the shilling, twenty shillings to the pound and the guinnie was one pound one shilling. Horses were (and still are) sold in guinnies. Here the pounds go to the owner and the shillings went to the stable boy, groom etc who looked after the horse.
