While shooting this scene, they pranked Harry Secombe: They put an artificial ear on Oliver's actor, so when Secombe grabbed it, it came clean off, making him panic that he tore his ear off.

My favourite musical ever made. I grew up watching this movie as a kid. Even though I was born in the early 1990s. I watched it at a very young. What a classic. This is my favourite version.

I love how his voice goes up when he says, "mooOOOOOOOOOOORE??"

I babysat for a girl in CA during my summers between college who had a cat named Oliver and and a boy in DC who had a dog named Oliver. I love the name and I’d used to ask if the pets wanted more lol.

That's why he was cast. It certainly wasn't because he could sing.

I did an "Oliver" impression once at my school at lunch: the students' dining hall had run out of food and a lot of us kids wanted seconds. The teacher on lunch-duty asked me to take some empty trays to the staff dining room to see if they had any left. "Please, sir, can I have some more?" I asked when I got there. "I'm afraid we don't serve gruel here!" my maths teacher quipped.

Because of this movie, whenever my mom or dad asks me for more of something, I always go, "MORE?!" just for laughs. I was reminded of this today for that.

Harry Secombe's pure unadulterated ham is what makes this scene for me,even without the musical number.

Captain bumble's voice sounded like a pirate

This is one of my favourite movies by far

I remember wanting to see the movie so badly since everyone I knew had already seen it. We had the album and I would listen to it all the time and I would constantly ask my neighbour friend about it. Finally finallly my parents took us to see it and I was so happy and excited.

I always hated it when an adult would drag me by the earlobe. >.

I watched it on the 28th December 2022 and loved it, it was a great film

As a kid seeing this, I thought it was funny what Bumble said and did, and I wondered what was wrong with him asking for more, since that would show he enjoyed the food.

It always sucked how Bumble kept the locket of Oliver's mom and rather than give it to him or trace it back to the family, he kept it for himself and threw Oliver out. He's not just a ruthless leader, he is pure evil. And he showed no remorse for this.

Look at mrs bumbles face at the end omfg 😂

I was in the orchestra for FC's play...the cast was very good, and now I love the songs from "Oliver!" And yes, that was one of the best scenes...kudos to Bumble (I think his name was Matt), and the two Oliver actors.

I remember watching this in middle school. Classic song

The Kid's should have been feeling sorry for Oliver not joining in the song, it very easily could have been one of them, and they obviously want more just as much as Oliver does

in the books the boys probably actually did feel sorry for oliver, but you could get punished for anything within a workhouse walls

Superb comment, thank you very much for taking the time to share so eloquently. I just watched this for the first time in over 50 years (I was only 7 when it came out) and it stirs so many memories. What gifted actors and production team.

Mr Bumble is played by Harry Secombe. He was Welsh. Which explains the God-tier operatic voice tone. What a singer.

Love watching this at Christmas time,what a film I love this version,Ron moody as fagin. Classic 👌

Whenever the other boys start singing, it always gives me the impression that they are betraying Oliver. ;)

I just mentally replaced the word "Oliver" with "omnivore" in the lyrics. That just made this song five times more hilarious.

This was my song when I was being bullied in middle and high school quite a lot

I remember the song from the School Christmas Play of Oliver Twist in the Hall from my childhood at Little Hallingbury Primary back in the 90s.

I’m doing Oliver JR right now and the person who is playing Mr Bumble missed some rehearsals, so when it came time for him to yell the, ‘MORE!?’ line he did it really loud and I just burst out laughing and everyone stared at me.

I've just about finished reading "Oliver Twist" (read this about 25 yrs ago). In the book, the boys are starving & draw straws to see who "has to go". One less mouth means more food for the boys. It's funny, the matron & Mr Bumble later marry & get in trouble BUT ultimately assist in returning Oliver to his family. I love that voice coming out of Mr. Bumble. Thanks for posting.

I remember my Dad's friend, when ever me and my brother watched Oliver this seen would come on and my Dad's friend would say MOOOORRRRREEEE!!!!! Very loud that is would scare me and my brother. 😂

Oliver is quite innocent and is quite determined to get his happy ending.

I remember having a crush on Oliver Twist. And my best mate saying she saw him in Ealing. And telling her how much he fancied me. And that he loved me. xxxx ☺ ☺

In the book, I read that Oliver did not really expect to get anymore, let alone want anymore, but he lost, so he asked for the others who were hungry

Been listening to an audiobook of _Oliver Twist._ One of the hardest stories I've ever read. The adults in the story are intolerably evil.

I watched this first time the other day, it was fantastic, best musical I've EVER seen (and I've only seen one other (The Pantom of the Opera))

My Great Grandad was in a Workhouse. When he finally got out he bought a ticket to sail to the USA to start a new life. Unfortunately it was on The Titanic. I come from a very unlucky family.
