  It sure looks like it! But you know how you can push against spike walls while wearing the boot? That leniency also protects you on upward trump jumps, so the twister elevator isn't nearly as precise as it looks.

  New spike hitboxes were something of a mixed blessing on this one. Ice physics more than overcompensated, turning the crux from what felt like one of the hardest single jumps ever made into something merely fairly difficult. I must have gone soft ...

  The grip is a little weird, but if you use the stick and dpad at the same time, you don't have to slide your thumb around.

  Whenever you touch any surface, the game performs *all* of the following checks for the glass ball, in this order: 1. Are you touching a floor or ceiling? 1.a. [Yes] Is your vertical speed above the limit? 1.a.i [Yes] Set the shared, global "break" flag to TRUE. 1.a.ii. [No] Set the shared, global "break" flag to FALSE. 1.b. [No] Do nothing. 2. Are you touching a wall? 2.a. [Yes] Is your horizontal speed above the limit? 2.a.i. [Yes] Set the shared, global "break" flag to TRUE. 2.a.ii. [No] Set the shared, global "break" flag to FALSE. 2.b. [No] Do nothing. 3. Is the shared, global "break" flag TRUE? 3.a. [Yes] Break the glass ball. 3.b. [No] Do nothing. Thus, if you are touching both a floor/ceiling AND a wall simultaneously (which afaik means on the same frame, plus there are some subpixel shenanigans involved that no one understands), because of the shared, global "break" flag, safely touching a wall will override an unsafe floor/ceiling bounce.
