Did The Canadian's dining car stay in Sudbury after the split into 2 sections, one Toronto on Montreal, or did the Montreal section keep the diner but no Park car?

Gotta give major props to Al Broadfoot for going above and beyond by manually operating the 3716’s lubricator linkage to Williams Lake. That had to take nerves of steel.

Awesome video! I was fortunate to ride behind 1201 on an Ottawa - Hawkesbury excursion in October 1990. I believe that was 1201's the last public excursion.

I find this interesting, aside from being depressing. I was a student in Newark, NJ at the turn of the century. Newark's "subway", which now uses lightrail, was trolley cars underground. After seeing this, I realized they were the remaining PCC's

"SuperTrain" was one of the floppiest flops of 70s tv. Probably intended as a Love Boat on rails, it went off track at every turn. The sets looked more like a low budget space ship than a luxury train. The swimming pool and the discotheque were particularly cheap looking. Throw in a forgettable cast, uninteresting storylines and bad dialogue and you're guaranteed to lose viewers. SuperTrain sucked so bad the network pulled it after only a few episodes, then tried to re-air it as "The NEW SuperTrain!!!!" Nobody was fooled. SuperTrain joined disco on the trash pilr of dead 70s fads and good riddance.

Interesting/informative/entertaining. Excellent photography job enabling viewers to better understand what the orator is describing. Remember the "Singing Break Men" 🎸🎶 Jimmie Rogers. Whom was a genuine break men till changing careers to a singing entertainer career. ( 1926 thru 1933 ) Most memorable song " Break Man's Blues 😭 ". Had the good fortune to ride 2 different steam locomotives 🚂 pulling scenic route train rides . Smoky mountains national park. Durango & Silverton Colorado. Very relaxing viewing the wonderfully scenic beauty. 😉. Viewing this presentation from the comfort zone of my computer room. Along the " Space Coast " 🚀of Florida 🐊🐊. Wishing viewers R.R. Employees/photography crew. A safe/healthy/prosperous ( 2024 ) 🌈🎉😉.

As someone who was born and grew up in the south Parkdale area of Toronto from 1951 I hardly ever had cause to ride a bus and those I did were almost all Trolley Busses . I did learn one thing from this film , the Cars I remember running on Bloor St. as a kid ( before the subway line ) came from Cleveland . I remember them running as MU's (multiple-units) and later on Queen St. I miss those wonderful old PCC' s . The streetcars we have now run a a snails pace in comparison

I saw this when it first came on. This is one of the shows that shot itself in the foot from the start because they showed the pilot first. Seemed like the setup took forever before the train left the station. I think it lost most of the audience with that episode. I thought the second episode with Dick Van Dyke and Larry Linville doing a version of Death on a Train was very good, but that was the only positive thing I could say about it and I think I watched most of the episodes.

NBC reportedly spent $5,000,000 on the sets and models for the show. TV Guide listed Supertrain as #28 on their "50 Worst TV Shows of All Time." The models and sets were impressive looking. Too bad the scripting was so poor.

Excellent video that illustrates the foresight originally displayed in the system. Unfortunately, after a period of some two decades where the infrastructures were partially upgraded, the whole system has been cannibalized in order to allow the yet unproven and abysmally conceived REM system that has obliterated any hope for improved commuter and inter-city rail passenger transportation in the Montreal area. 2023/12/16. Ontario, Canada.
