Welcome to the Cornish Motorcycle Diaries. Here you will find... Motorbikes! People! er and other stuff...
Here in Kernow (Cornwall) we have a different attitude to life, slower and more relaxed, sometimes frustratingly relaxed if like me you were not born in the county. They say it takes a 1000 days to adapt to the change of pace and I have been here now for 15 years, so I guess I pass that test. However, there are many different customs and attitudes here, that I think people will want to see. From a motorcycling perspective, the roads are often over-crowded with tourists but when you find a magnificent stretch of coastline to explore, or brooding mines, it's so worth it. I shall also be trying out other bikes than my current ride and meting up with other bikers too. Basically anything that interests me and is vaguely motorcycle related. And, as a shorter rider, I will give my own unique perspective..

Beautiful meat up guys enjoy yourself🎉
What an absolute yawn-fest 🥱 nothing worse than listening to an old man whingeing 🤮
the guy in the mirror is really riding your tail there.
Appreciate your perspective. Might have to check this out.
Thanks for the really interesting video. I nearly bought a Quadlock last week at ABR but the bad press re damage to iphones put me off. I presume you have not had any problems on your GS?
Have a early 23 no problems with it riding since 1970 90cc to 1400cc japanese and british had two of the latest bonnevilles the bsa is up there with them most of the negative comments seem to be from riders who walk round them or take a one hour test ride only thing I an comment on is I received my engine dresser bars few months ago and my frame doesn't have the mounting spud behind exhaust so I have made temporary fitting not a word from bsa about a fix
Why this deluge of reviews of this 470 lb Mahindra? What part of it is authentically BSA? Aha--the tank badges!
Yay. "BSA friends !!!!" As Lumpy said, it was quite interesting to see the two bikes next to each other and how the mods have changed their appearance. It looks as though you can customise the bike a fair bit for not a lot of money ! Congrats on your new friend Andy 😝 Garry & Ruby
Those are some nice machines.I’ll admit I don’t know anything about them.never heard of a dealership here in the states.thanks for sharing.
Dealers will be a announced soon in the Sates. It’s going through emissions approval.
I saw one next to a RE Meteor and thought it never looked as good - the radiator, fake pushrod tunnel and fuel injection cover looked cheap and the gear brake and gear leaver looked crude and tractor like - if only the meteor had the performance
I wonder why the Highland green doesn't get the stripe? All the other colours do apart from the Legacy Edition. Other than that my best mate has just bought one and now I want one and i can't choose a colour!!
Highland Green was base model £300 cheaper in March 23, the stripes added extra cost as over lacquered and the Legacy has more bright-ware. I chose the Highland Green because the paint has green and blue hues depending on the light and I preferred no stripe and less cleaning of bright-ware.
I bought a 650 BSA Lightning new in North Carolina in 1965....
Watch out for that average speed checker at the Taymar Bridge 😁
Enjoyed that. Good info too
Lumpy, star of the show👍 does that mean I have to pay you a lot more when you do one of my videos 😁👍
Lol, I thought you wanted more views not less
He's got an agent now!
It was very nice to meet up and compare experiences. After cringing at seeing myself I can tell you I will never doubt the skill of a video blogger. Note to self, stay away from video cameras! A SW BSA meet-up would be good👍
Good luck Andy. Hopefully you can get the merged re-flash done soon and the scuffed rack replaced. Then hopefully, just in time for summer, you can really start enjoying the bike 🤞 Take care out there, Garry & Ruby
Thanks for the update. What phone holder are you using please?
Quad lock
@@CornishMotorcycleDiaries Thanks. Any issues with vibration affection the phone?
I have the anti-vibration adapter and the phone works perfectly.
No problem with mine at all 😊😊
Had my 23 flashed at clay cross kawasaki by the development guy who works closely with BSA absolutely perfect took around 4 hours start to finish
That sounds encouraging!
It is junk sorry
If it was remotely decent I'd have bought one. I didn't! It's a cheap knock off and looks it.
Thank you for your input. So what are your reasons for that Damning verdict? And, have you ridden one, or even seen one? Just sayin...😏
I had a 1972 Lightning built in Armoury Road, Birmingham. Believe me, that wasn't much better.
Good luck, hope you get it sorted soon. I have now uploaded my videos from the trip to Cornwall. Should be coming in the next few weeks. But first, a marathon! (Well, half a marathon...)
More coming on Wednesday when next video comes out. Very hopeful. Good luck with ½ marathon.
@@CornishMotorcycleDiaries oh that's just the video out Saturday morning. I was marshalling an event. Riding my bike. I can't run... bad knees. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Re-flashing a cement mixer single cylinder thumper with no more power than a Jap 125 !! Not fit for purpose mate, get rid !!!
GOOT-ZEE for crying out loud!
I have a early 23 up to now no problems with cutting out only thing I waited for a set of engine dresser bars when they came the frame has no mounting for bottom exhaust side bar said they would be in touch but two months nothing got temporary bracket made how can a manufacturer make a mistake like that dealer give up bsa after a year
Some early models lacked the frame lugs I believe.
Nasty habit of cornering with the clutch in fella.
cant think of a worse habit to get into especially if its wet.
Thanks for that observation fella. I'll keep an eye on that.
@@CornishMotorcycleDiaries no worries, I have a million and one things to work on and every ride we get a little better. Be safe and enjoy the bike Sir.
Glad you are enjoying the bike. I had the same core engine (Rotax) in an Aprilia Pegaso many years ago, and it was faultless. It had two carbs rather than fuel injection.
These Indian bikes seem to have a lot of problems, just been reading about 2 new 450 Himalayans with broken frames, RE blaming it on crash bars.............
Interesting, mind you it's not just Indian made bikes, as you will see in a forthcoming video...
Good luck with it, shame you have to mess around going back to your all the time. Hope its sorted soon!
Thanks ER, looking hopeful. Update on Wednesday!👍
Hopefully you’ll get it sorted.
We'll get there.
Mine is cutting out but not much. Dealer did re map. Has to be below 25deg. So had to wait. It did.nt work. Dealer agreed with me that best to leave it overnight. Enfield had similar issues and had to be done with bike cold. Where sensor is it was probably over 25 when they did it so booked in again in 2 wk. Plenty folk have said it worked so should be OK. Also having recall done. They have to drop oil to check clutch. Everyone being very helpful. I had far more serious issues with 2 new guzzi.s. Dreadful customer service from piaggio group. Fobbing me off till warranty ran out. Dealer advised me to get rid as they would wash their hands of it as it was running. I did. Got a honda deauville which I had 7yrs. 100% reliable.
Thanks for the info. Keep me posted on the outcome?
Why I will avoid certain brands as Chinese whispers are true
I think that rack looks far superior to any others I’ve seen, it really blends into the bike.
Absolutely
This bike has soul
Fingers crossed their plans work out 👍.
Looks like a good biker destination Andy. I wish them well with it. I hope it's a big success. Great to see somebody trying to do something a little bit different. And yes, I do remember when Freddie was there 🙂 Cheers Andy, Garry & Ruby
Interesting looking place. Thanks for sharing
Looks good there, it's on my list now 👍
Really nice impression of the day. I was one of those synchronised dismounters. 🤣
Nice video of a fairly awful day weather wise. Thanks for coming along, I’m glad you did and it was good to meet at last 👍🏼
Thanks, you too!
Ah....I finally get to see Launceston Tescos by the bins !!! A lifetime ambition achieved ! Such a shame about the weather. At the start of the day it looked wet but promising. I thought you might get lucky. Plenty of blue sky and sunshine on display. Thanks for sharing your view of the Socialbags Saddleride. I'm sure that the weather didn't dampen your enjoyment too much. Cheers Andy, Garry & Ruby
Thanks Garry, I feel like the Wizard of Oz for doing that 😀
It was a brilliant ride. Good to meet so many new faces that day.
