    You just simply can't open the velcro when pushing the foot in to the foot strap....

    The straps are turned around so that the logo isn’t upside down when you are recording on your head cam 🤙

    Hi, would you please explain how you shim the foil to get the right rake. I read that now you have to put the shims under the back screw?? Thanks!

  • @michelebeckerwindsurfing
    @michelebeckerwindsurfingКүн бұрын

    Hi, there is not one correct answer for this topic. Where and what size shim you need to use depends on your board (can also vary within the same brand) and your foilmast. 99% of the time you will need to put a shim in the front to get higher rake because the default angle between board and mast is usually too little. Just in very few cases the default angle without a shim is too big (let´s say more than 4 degrees). In that case you would need to put a shim in the back to reduce the angle between board and mast. I hope that helped to clear up things

    Same as other guys, because the is no way to open the velcro accidently eith your foot if the logos are pointing inward

    Considering straps - It should be a bit easier to adjust them in the water- you just pull the cover to open.

    Hi there. I think I know the answer, you don't want to get stuck with your toes in the velcro, while trying to get into the straps. I got the ion saftey-straps and I accidently opened the velcro on my straps doing that.

    Hello! Not a pro at all, here are my findings anyways, about Starboard 177 race board and race foil from the pre-IQ era. In the original condition it was very scary to fly since the nose was pointing downwards ready to hit a chop. I checked the rake, it was 0.6 degrees. Our local forum said I needed 1.6-1.9 rake. After I added a self made shim (cutted it from a piece of linoleum) the rake became 1.4 degrees. It was night and day, but the head of the foil mast was not that tight now. Then I grinded away some material from the head, about the shim's thicknes at the rear and 0 at front. Marked the sloping line carefully, and also added sort of a clamp as a limiter for the process. Now the head is tight, but still touching the well bottom, and the rake is 1.7-1.8 degrees. I am still using this setup after several years, very satisfied, the flight hight is steady in the gusts, but maybe still wanting to go downwards just a bit. Back to the video, 3 degrees, wow, I wish I saw it before, I'll try some more rake, thanks! Also, why starboard does not make the gear with the optimal setup from the beginning? Shims are not good because they make the head loose, and grinding the mast head by customers, that is not right. I wonder if I am alone who has risked the grinding.
