That front side bar helped save a colleague and from a high speed accident. Oncoming car lost control on a corrugated bend and slammed into us and skid down the side.

If really out in the nowhere, like in the Sahara, only 2 sparetires. But never a sparetire on a heckdoor. Some corrugated roads, your dorr fixings will break

Hey Ronny, I am one of your followers from the Sultanate of Oman.. This is the first time I see you without your Land Cruiser..!! I am obsessed with the Defender, the appearance of the Grenadier has made it my number one target now. However, the specialists advised me not to buy the first model, or even the fourth model, for several reasons, including that these models are still in the process of experimentation and development, and the prices of spare parts are exaggerated, for example: a replacement car key costs $1,200 dollars..!! Since I have confidence in your experience, I hope that you provide specific information in a clear and frank manner in your upcoming episodes, for example: fuel consumption, diesel/petrol engine performance efficiency, internal/external design defects, air conditioner efficiency. Please provide a complete evaluation of the car from all technical and mechanical aspects.

This is a very capable vehicle, however after reading posts of Australian owners who have got over the euphoria of ownership and finally can comment rationally some of the major gripes not covered in RD video is the lack of support from INEO’s in Australia, the cost of basic items such as spare keys and rims and the up to 3 mths waiting time for basic components This is in total contradiction to what was promised at there Australia launch This is why you pay a premium for Toyota Landcruisers

Ronny the GR Sport also has vastly upgraded suspension too. I'm looking at replacing a 1997 TX Prado and the GR looks to have the edge, particularly for my off roading and towing a 19 foot off road caravan. You're usually concise and accurate, but you're well off the mark there.

Hey Ronny, would be worth looking at the legalities of mounting anything on the side of the vehicle. In QLD, you are not allowed to have anything protruding beyond the widest point of the vehicle which is usually the wheel arches. The only exceptions are mirrors capable of folding back on impact and wheel arch flares that meet ADR requirements. People here have been fined for roof racks and awnings that stick out too far. All to do with pedestrian safety I believe.

The best mods are the ones you buy after driving a stock vehicle for minimum 12 months and figuring out what you need, not what everyone else has for aesthetic reasons

FJ Cruiser is a sport version of Prado, which is a Landcruise, hence FJ Cruiser is a Landcruiser. But at the end the only Landcruiser is what Toyota is marketing as Landcruiser.

Brush bars and rear bars are much more helpful for hardcore wheeling as you can get yourself in really tight and precarious spots that would definitely do body damage if you didn't have them.

I find it interesting that people gotta bag out a car for being north of 100K while conveniently leaving out that a Landcruiser can cost 140+ and still be very basic inside. Come on Toyota fan boy's, its time to admit that this car might just be better than a Cruiser.

I was on a 4x4 trail going up a mountain. The vehicle behind me stalled. The driver wanted to restart the vehicle and thus put the clutch in without pumping the brakes first for good stopping power. The vehicle rushed backward towards a 150m+ cliff and was stoped by a dead tree stump on the diff with the back of the vehicle hanging off the edge. Very close call that could have been avoided if proper precautions were taken. This caused a two-hour recovery and four anchored cruisers to winch the Fortuner back up onto the edge.

I bought a manual Jimny for $35K - I'll be driving that around Australia when the new generation of $120k electro lux SUVs are gathering dust from their built in obsolescence. May well be the last car on the road burning fossil fuels. Going to be able to pass it on to my grandchildren.

I'm glad I ran across this video, I am currently installing 6 12 inch Sundown Audio subs, but I don't know near as much about 12v setups as you do. This video answered a couple of questions I had about which and how many batteries to install. I am however installing a 400A alternator to help juice the bat's, and hopefully that'll be enough to do the job.

03:37 True! plus carrying the compressed air in that second spare (when you're already carrying a compressor) is another good couple of kilos. I believe in the 'carry the spare tyre, not the spare wheel approach'. That being said, it might then also be useful to carry a spare inner tube, in case the rim gets badly whacked, although this would be a terrain specific consideration.
