Man, we really showed those alien bastards. I'm so glad we live in a time when the Illuminate are gone for good and can't possibly return.
Miss your vids a lot man
iO (little helldiver doing salute textmoji)
How can a sequel be so similar but so entirely different. This looks insanely fun.
We have to fight those guys!?!?
You know, i always thought the enemies were kind of cute thanks to the top down aspect. I probably won't feel the same way when these squid f*ckers come to hd2
Just studying old Great War footage
I just came here to say; as a veteran of the first galactic war, that my experiences with the Illuminate were few (I spent a good amount of my service deployed to combat Cyborgs) but they were not an enemy to be trifled with. In this footage, 19 Helldiver veterans went in, and only 4 made it out. 15 deaths... May Liberty shine on them. My experience with the Illuminate was on one deployment, as I had to fill in for another diver lost to them. The pods dropped into a jungle planet, and I called in my gear. I was a heavy machine gunner. Not a fancy job, but a necessary support position. Green as grass on the Illuminate front, but usually heavy machine gunners like myself could slag bots like paper, so... In my young mind at that time, the squids ain't nothing. I figured they'd die easy like any bugs or bots. With our gear dropped and my squad loaded, we set off to liberate. Hell... the chaos that unfolded shortly after we set off into the jungle, I don't even remember what we were doing on that damn planet. The squids came outta nowhere, and disappeared just as quick. When you thought you could off them, the damn shields would save them. One of my squad mates tried launching a rocket at those striders, only for the rocket to deflect off the shield and for her to be just as quickly gutted by an invisible foe. I still sometimes think I can see her blood on my old helmet... All I remember from that mission was losing my right leg diving into the pelican, and just mag dumping into thin air as it set off. I don't even know if I hit anything but jungle foliage... I was the only diver out. The Ministry keeps telling everyone the Illuminate are gone... but... Something in these old bones just doesn't think we've seen the last of them. To all new Helldivers, when you watch these patriotic historical archives, you need to pay attention and remember what we sacrificed.
there's a ton in HD1 that I just find better designed than in HD2. the progression. Every stratagem and weapon had multiple unlocks that made it individually better. thats not possible in the sequel. the weapons also felt very different in rythm and playstyle and very effective.. the difficulty was about being overwhelmed by difficult enemy compositions, and abilities that came from all angles. Stealth, evading patrols was an actual part of play instead of accident of janky detection implementation as in HD2. I do not miss the shared camera.
im starting to think theres a reason everyone uses trident or another laser weapon.... but i don't care im using suppressor forever!
the guns in this sound so much better.... they actually sound powerful as hell, and the laser automatic sounds different from a regular rifle in this.
It'd be a real shame if a certain blackhole that just manifested gave these guys the ability to invade Super Earth.
Hope helldiver franchise have raid level like Destiny 2.
Interesting tactic to use napalm to block their projectiles. Something to keep in mind, certainly.
When are you going to fight him again in 4k?
I wish i played this back when it came out
It still looks fun as hell in top down
9:31 have only played hd2 but why tf did they not keep that A-10 cannon sound for the eagle? That makes me disappointed :(
The atmosphere is amazing in this game
Helldivers 2 players will never know the fear of realising you’ve all run into four different corners of the screen to escape a horde and are now effectively stuck 😂
The walls, sweet Democracy THE WALLS.... The jetpack essentially paid for itself... but I should be able to afford the lease on mine after the Ministry of Truth sends me pay for the last 3 years of Helldiving and delivering freedom to the bots and securing OIL I mean element 710 from the bugs.
🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺
The illuminates gon be so hard to fight
It’s cool seeing what changed, but even cooler to see what carried over from this to 2! Like general concepts, UI design, and art direction.
играешь как мразь
The pacing of the gameplay is so much better here. Enemies are becoming bullet sponges in Helldivers 2 with all the nerfs.
wow i cant believe i never knew of this games existence. wat a shame cause this looks really fun
Ah. The days before the Major Order came in, requesting us Helldivers to make Sony bend the knee within 5 days. Good work, brothers and sisters. We won.
Can I just say it's really weird hearing Indy Neidell's voice in a video game (the communications officer who lets you know about equipment and new Helldivers)? I mean, I love it. But it's just something I never expected to see.
What a fantastic insight into the game that would become Helldivers 2. It's nice to know that rescuing survivors has always been a pain in the ass. Good to see that hasn't changed.
Oh yes I am most definitely looking forward to fighting them in hell divers 2
Changing this game into an actual third-person shooter was probably the best thing they could've done.
The way they slide into their hellpods is kind of hilarious in this game
Wow.. I had no idea the first one was a retro. Game.... And what I mean by that is that people that play this are usually losers. Really gladly, they decided to become a triple-a. Game. No wonder all the people in the discord in hell diver 1 We're so salty. 😂
what a useless degen you are.
Studying film
I think this enemy will attack like bullet hell
Looks awesome.
Don't mind me, just reviewing historical documentation from the first galactic war. I'm a history buff. No other reason. No other impending, heavily shielded, terrifying reason.

Besides going 3D it doesn't look like they changed much from the first game!
Tf! U got to be fucking blind
I kinda wanna get my share of the first game just to see what it was like.
Doing my homework for Democracy
.
Was this on Xbox?
Lol Xbox doesn't have games anymore
No, ps exclusive
Good Lord, i want to see those in Helldivers 2. Im a bit scared tho, the bots are "okay" to deal with when you know how to play but this looks like hell! xD I never really got to play this but this looks hella fun too! Anyways, lovely video! They got liberated for democracy. ❤
Just wait until they invert your controls....
@@yamatofraccionI was always pretty good at adjusting to that but the inverted stratagem inputs made it insanely difficult to reinforce in a pinch
Salute to our veteran! 🫡

2 gernades to take down a tank is crazy
Watching film in case they come back
We will definitely require better weaponry if we are to bring democracy to this menace.😀
The warbond that has arc resistant armor will likely be the main one that will assist us in the fight against them in hd2
They were once human ???
Yes :) They left superearth because they didn't agree with the goverment methods and systems.
I’m just here to pay respects to our veterans 🫡✊

From isometric twin stick shooter on a 2012 (?) handheld console. To 3D, highly detailed and produced shooter on PS5/PC. And with zero modern social/neo-marxist politics crammed into it's fictional setting. Arrowhead studio deserves all the praise.
If you really can't tell that Helldivers is a satire of nationalism and militarism, you are completely media illiterate. And kind of a dumbass.
AND on the same (deprecated) game engine, no less! They're putting on a clinic over what it means to be a model game dev
