Welcome to QTronics, where I have all the gear and no idea!
This is a channel dedicated to Modding/Fixing Consoles and Electronics, by someone with very little experience.
PROFIT - now I have your attention, As I've mentioned I'm new to this. So my ultimate goal it to be able to learn, while breaking even on the things I sell. So if we find some profit along the way, then it's a bonus.

any chance you have a link for this version of the PicoFly? all the ones that i'm seeing have the flex cable that you have to bend backwards unlike yours which seems to sit on top of everything nicely, and all of the links that you've posted ~3 months ago have now 404'd :(
They seem to be harder to find. You're normally looking for kits that work on multiple versions : www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007272086847.html
Hi,what microscope you use? Have a link?
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09VPPS96M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 That's a non affiliate link, Andonstar AD246s
Hi, great video! I am looking to buy a PicoFly or an instinct V6 for my OLED. Which one do you think is better and easier to install? Also, do you have a reputable store for the chips and a good dat0 adapter? Thanks
This is the latest version of the Picofly with a good adapter : www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007196605609.html ( it installs on the cpu the same way the instinct does) In terms of install, I believe the instinct has more points to solder. So it's all down to how confident you are. I think the Instinct's also cost more? The way I see it is the picofly boards are fine, no real need for the instinct. Once the console is booted the boards dont do anything, it's only on the initial launch. I think the Instinct board might be slightly faster at initial boot that's all.
Hello, trying to get some help On point B I accidentally soldered off the pad that's on the yellow ribbon for point B I managed to get it semi soldered I thought but, I'm getting 2 quick flashing lights as the error so it's still not connected properly Can I use jumper wire? Or do I need to buy a new ribbon.
Have you checked to see if B has the right reading? Alternatively, you could just solder the B point from the Switch lite straight to the Picofly board using some wire.
From what ive read you should not use exfat on a switches sdcard as rhe switches os has some iusses in exfat driver which likely causes data corruption
Yh that is true, but I was copying their card over. I normally use fat32. As i was copying their card, I wasnt sure if they had files bigger than 4gb so just kept it at exFat
@@QTronics it's fine bro I was just pointing out, nice work btw
Yeah it’s good to point out. I appreciate it. Was just saying why :)
❤
Hello, I feel your pain 😢😅 It's acting like it's having a nand problem or the nand isn't connected 🤔
If you watch part 3 though you will see why 🤣
@@QTronics yes I did 🤣
I feel like the chip was just floating on a dome/puddle of solder when it wasn’t sat flat. Wondering whether wicking it all away, and then using a thin smear of solder paste (almost like applying thermal paste) would have made a nice thin layer for it to sit on. Just thinking aloud, I don’t actually know anything!
Yeah, i probably put too much solder back on it. i’d never done one before. I was a little too soft on it, I didn’t realise how much you had to push down. Wait till part 3 today though haha
❤
Part 3 is good haha
Looks pretty fucking easy lets do it
It is, just need the right equipment and to take your time.
you have a nand problem. check if it goes into RCM mode when you take off the nand
Honestly wait till part three, such a massive fuck up by me.

Hey bud, amazing video. Earned a sub from me. Do you offer this as a service? I have no experience with soldering but would like to tinker with overclocking my SwitchLite. 😅
Thanks for the sub, Im not offering the service sorry. facebook.com/share/skzmu8T4b75vk2S6/?mibextid=K35XfP There are people on that face book group who do though.
What temperature do you usually use? I found hard to get the solder to stick to the board.
Im normally using around 330-350c
That fool worked on the machine without removing the theme paste first no wonder they had to call you for help
Yeah, he was a little inexperienced
The sudden outburst of triumphant swearing was well funny mate.
I needed the win 🤣 There’s a new switch video coming next week that took me so long. There should be a bit of swearing and nearly crying in that too .🥲
whats the latest/best chip? seeing so many differnt versions of hwfly, picofly, instinct. getting a bit confused as to which one to purchase for switch lite, v1/v2, oled.
All the chips should be the same RP2040, it’s mainly the ribbons that are different. So look for the kind of ribbon you would like to solder.
Hey, whats the size of your soldering tip in mm? I want to see if my current soldering iron tip is small enough for the install.
Between 0.2mm and 0.5mm normally. Bc2 or I soldering iron tip for TS101
Do you offer send in services for V2 modchip install
I dont sorry, try here : facebook.com/share/skzmu8T4b75vk2S6/?mibextid=K35XfP
hi friends, where are the flash archive to rp2049 picoflyI need donwload , can you help me ?

@@QTronics thanks friend!
@juanjoviciana6152 you’re welcome
If you got it from aliexpress then it's not a PSIO , it's a counterfeit . This is probably why the creators of the PSIO had to recently implement registration of each unit and only offer the manuals , instructions , and updates to verified account holders .
it's deffo a clone. The maker of the PSIO promised changes multiple times and never delivered. So hence buying a clone, if they supported the project better I would have purchased from them.
Keep doing the switch videos I like them
My editors has had some issues with his net this week, but we will have an Unpatched Switch v1 with problems next week
Hey bro can u help me for idea of soldering and making new psp street button membrane bcz previous one got damaged
Not sure exactly what you need but message on discord iyates
Programme sd card ?
I meant the Chip, the picofly runs through a list of timing to be able to inject the payload. When it finds the right one for your console it stores the setting on the SD card. So future boots are faster
what is the reason for the second solder point next to b
it will be a ground point, and also help secure the ribbon
I have an old switch that isn't reading SD cards. I bought a reader replacement and I found it only works if I'm pressing it in firmly. Would you happen to know a fix for this?
Hi it sounds like very much like this issue. Are you able to solder? I would check the pins. As pressing firmly is probably causing the connections make contact.
Will be trying this this weekend
Good luck dude take you time and it should be fine :)
How did it go?
@@QTronics still waiting on the parts
That’s crap , keep me posted
@@QTronics it should be here tomorrow so afyer work
Thx for the great tutorial. I have a red Mario Switch V2 model. I bought a RP2040 PicoFly V5 . Is it compatible with my Switch?
How do your ribbons differ to mine? There will be a v5 ( this is the version of the flex) version for the switch v1/v2. Does yours have the ribbon to connect the emmc? Im on discord as iYates if you want to send me a picture of the ribbon and i’ll tell you.
what happens when I solder everything and the led lights up and the Nintendo turns on but the screen is black . Happened to me after resoldering the flex cable because I flipped the right side of it the wrong way .
Have you taken the mod chip off? Does it boot normally? What do you mean you flipped the flex wrong?
Nice install. The first game is Metal Gear Solid an iconic Ps1 game by Konami ;)
Thanks, I’m sort of aware of MGS, but didn’t realise integral was the first one. I’ve never played any of the MGS games. My friend was disappointed I didnt know what it was as well 🤣

Just curious if you know, it looks like the D0 cable was flaking apart around the ~5:00 mark. Is it normal for the ribbon to disintegrate/degrade like that? Possibly from heat? I just put in a Switch Lite modchip by following your Lite video and curious if I will need to come back and revisit it in the future due to the ribbons degrading.
I have never seen this happen before, I think it was falling apart do the Matt attempting to move it and re-secure it down. So i don’t think it’s something you have to worry about. These are standard flex cables so shouldn’t break down under normal conditions. Also glad the video helped, did everything go to plan with your install?
@@QTronics Okay, that's a relief! The install went great! Thank you for putting in all the hard work to produce high quality content that is easy to follow along with. People all over reddit try to scare people off doing this by saying it's super hard to do, but with right tools and patience, it was a cinch. When I first watched the Switch Lite video I started scouring all over trying to find the same combo of ribbon cables you used because it looked so much more neat than the folded cables. Luckily I was able to buy a 7 pack of the L+O Universal parts from the vendor you linked in the comments on that video. Looks like it was just in time because they deleted that item listing now!
@@frickinjon ah awesome, so glad my video helped. These ribbons are so much better. I didn’t know the listing had gone :0. Yeah reddit like to warn you off, long as you take your time and have the right equipment you’re good though
looks like they would never even be able to get the cpu cover back on either with those massive solder blobs holding the ribbon in place on the frame
thank you for balancing the audio for your music cut scenes so the music matched the level of your mic/rest of the video so frustrating when people put in music overlay and the audio is like 12 db higher than the rest of the video.
Yeah, I was going to say they were a novice, but so am I. Yeah you need just enough solder to hold it in place.
I will tell my editor you appreciate it :) He's good at doing stuff like that.
@@QTronics i don't think i would ever see a need for either of those points to be soldered, maybe a tiny dot on one of them, but other than that I think it's a waste of time, would have also made your job easier to remove it if that solder wasn't there to remove too after the failed attempt love from canada :)
@@justinbouchard I think the only reason is to stop the tape moving prior to soldering the caps. I've seen someone knock a cap off by moving the tape while it was only connected to one of the caps.
Great job, this looks very good. Quick question. What type of microscope are you using? I recently installed my first modchip without any microscope and it was a pain to do.
You installed one without a scope? Well done dude that’s hard, ive done some micro soldering using my phone and it’s not the easiest. Scope: andonstar 246-m
Good work. I saw your Lite Picofly video and performed that on my switch and it was great
Thanks, Awesome :) glad you were able to install it :)
Would love to see the ribbon fix.
I'll look at getting one out then. Very quick thing to swop over, I think the parts are pennies. If I can see the break in the trace though i'll attempt to solder it
I like to change out the slider buckles to metal ones while im in there; the plastic buckles they come with wear down over time and the joycons fail to lock into place.
That’s a good shout. Thanks :) i’ll order some and make a video :)
Could you use these kits on a Switch Pro Controller?
unfortunately not, the Pro controller uses standard stick soldered on to it's mother board.
But this is a hwfly, not a picofly
No this is a picofly. Look at the boot screen. It’s using a rp 2040
god you have a completely dog multi meter btw, invest in a decent one, field piece or fluke
Thanks my friend. I just ordered my oled chip from aliexpress.. Hopefully I will manage to build this switch without damaging.. Did three switch v2 so far, but the oled one is on another level 😮
Just really take your time. If you’ve done three v2’s then you know to take it easy on the APU caps. The hardest part of this getting the d point exposed, just take your time. The emmc can be tricky too so make sure you lock it into place. Good luck :) hope it goes well
@@QTronics thanks, I will let you know. Watched several videos but I liked this the best 👍
@@HardstyleTommY please do :)
Heyy The chip arrived and I did manage to install it, but sadly I receive a =* led.. ( dat0 not connected..) But it is connected and I get a good reading with my multimeter. I am a little bit stuck and don't really know how to figure the issue ourt.. Any quick idea? By the way i like your humor 😂👍
@@HardstyleTommY have you checked all the points? point A also links to the NAND so double check to make sure that's connected. What diode reading are you getting for Dat O? When you connect the ribbon to the picofly board, whats the diode reading you get on the C test point on the board please? If you're on discord Iyates - might be easier to talk there
Amazing work! Thank you for your guide, I'll try someday. Modded v2 switch couple months ago
Thanks, awesome news v2’s are good experience, as i think most people mess up the APU caps so you’ve dont most the hard work before :)
Hi if i undertant i t right witch this chip i not gonna have to hussle witch injecting payload using rmc jig anymore after baterry die ??
yeah that's correct.
@@QTronics thanks
Hi, im not an expert in this, relatively new, but wouldnt it make it easier to tin the components first prior to installation to make it a little easier? Thanks in advance
personally, I find with these installs, tinning the pads can make the ribbons stiffer. Especially the APU ribbon for me I find when it's tinned it doesn't sit in placer nicely . Other do tin prior, it's just preference I dont for the apu.
Heat near the APU is always a risk, unlucky
Yeah it’s not looking good, at least i have another practise board
350 when using braid isn’t too high imo, I would start at 340-350 and work my way up until I start getting sufficient heat to suck up the solder into the braid. I’ve found on some Xbox’s I’m using 360-370 so it can get really hot sometimes when your on a big plane for a 4 layer board
Yeah im starting to the think the ts101 is a good starting iron. But im going to need something beefier eventually:) Thanks for the help dude ❤️
Hi, what is the temp. that you use for soldering?
using 330c - 350c on a ts101 soldering iron
Thanks!
Cpu problem, bq usually gets hot as it is. The switch can work without the Cpu caps no problem
The bq had blown, I was getting a black screen only till i changed it. I think the previous guy must have shorted something. But yeah i think the cpu is toast too.
