Latest RP2040 PicoFly *2024* : Nintendo Switch OLED Install

Nintendo Switch Lite Install= • Latest RP2040 PicoFly ...
Join me for an install of the latest RP2040 into a Nintendo Switch OLED.
*I don't condone piracy* This Switch has been modded so the Tegra X1 can run at the original clock speeds Nvidia intended.
Also by modding the console with the Picofly 2040, you are able to back up your NAND memory. As the eMMC and NAND is linked to the CPU, so should the NAND chip ever fail, your Switch OLED doesn't become an expensive brick.
This is advanced micro soldering, so copy at your own risk.

    Hi, I really liked your video. I am attempting my first Switch OLED upgrade this week with a PicoFly chip and will use this video as my guide. At a guess I think you are also a UK man, also by your accent you live near me, near or in the Black Country? I'm in Lichfield Would it be possible if I get stuck, I can reach out to you?

    Just really take your time. If you’ve done three v2’s then you know to take it easy on the APU caps. The hardest part of this getting the d point exposed, just take your time. The emmc can be tricky too so make sure you lock it into place. Good luck :) hope it goes well

    personally, I find with these installs, tinning the pads can make the ribbons stiffer. Especially the APU ribbon for me I find when it's tinned it doesn't sit in placer nicely . Other do tin prior, it's just preference I dont for the apu.

    Hi, great video! I am looking to buy a PicoFly or an instinct V6 for my OLED. Which one do you think is better and easier to install? Also, do you have a reputable store for the chips and a good dat0 adapter? Thanks

  • @QTronics

    This is the latest version of the Picofly with a good adapter : www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007196605609.html ( it installs on the cpu the same way the instinct does) In terms of install, I believe the instinct has more points to solder. So it's all down to how confident you are. I think the Instinct's also cost more? The way I see it is the picofly boards are fine, no real need for the instinct. Once the console is booted the boards dont do anything, it's only on the initial launch. I think the Instinct board might be slightly faster at initial boot that's all.

  • @QTronics

    Tbh, im not sure. Could simply be more pressure was needed before soldering it. I think it depends on the adapter too. Some of them let you solder to the resistor to the side. Which should stop it slipping. It could also be some flux moving under the chip over time

  • @Tech_Wes_

    @Tech_Wes_

    I'd also suggest a thin wire like 36awg. I've been using i think 30awg and they're a bit too thick i think, then tension and pressure maybe be too intense for it. It sounds unconventional, but i use hot glue sometimes as well to prevent the wire tugging the dat0 connection. Funny enough some manufacturers actually use glue in electronics/pcbs, totally safe.

  • @QTronics

    @QTronics

    16 күн бұрын

    @@Tech_Wes_ Yeah smaller wire might help, could even use magnet wire. Hot glue actually might help with this, if the glue is in place enough to give the adapter a little more tension.
