Quick shift to 4wd and you do the job with no grass marks. Thats actually exactly how i found out rhe left hub was failed. I was hooking up on wet grass, spun, put it in 4 and still spun lol. I wanted people to know how their hubs worked and dispel some myths. Was looking at a Ford F-350 with the 7.3 motor towing a 16,000 lb fifth wheel. But everyone told me to get the diesel because of exhaust brake and fuel mileage. Confused to say the least, would appreciate any thoughts on my issue.

  • @greatlakespowerstrokefx4
    @greatlakespowerstrokefx48 күн бұрын

    Well for sure the exhaust brake is a great future. I could call both of them, bad gas milage at 16k. I get about 10.5 with my 17k mini excavator on the back but that is on flat roads with something that doesnt have a flat front face. If you tow on mountains i would say diesel is the run away winner. On flat land my 7.3 pulls really really hard and its gas milage is so reasonable towing and empty its a great road trip truck. I think mountains are the real deciding factor here. Diesel is a luxury on flat land, in the mountains its just the way to go

    @@tcmtech7515 what im hoping is the extra structure of those metal strips will increase the strength to combat that. I did terminate those cracks with tons of drilled holes. But i know what you are saying, it could crack in the heat affected zone. We just have to see what it will do. Iv never seen this on a stamped steel deck. This mower had like 480 hours on it. Way too soon for catastrophic failure on one hand, on the other 480 hours of abusing it mowing, it doesnt sound so bad. I have a soft tonneau cover on the back which may help slightly. The area driven is North Georgia that does include hills and turns. If I'm pulling my equipment trailer with tractor it drops to about 11. I'm not crazy about the 10 speed tranny as I think it needs better shifting points when towing even in haul/tow mode. The GM way is to leave the cv axles connected and to have a disconnect on the (right) long shaft side that lets the ring gear&pinion stop and on only the axle and spider gears in differential turn. 2024 F250 stx 7.3 160wb 3.73, and I am getting 17mpg on i-75 between Chattanooga and Knoxville TN going 65-70. I also tow a 7000lbs bumper pull travel trailer and am getting 8-8.5 mpg going 65 which is a bit disappointing as I was expecting 10mpg based on many owners' comments. My former 2020 F150 XLT 2.7 145wb 3.73 with load range E AT tires got 21 mpg and 10.5-11mpg respectively doing the same things but using 93 octane instead of the 87 I now buy for godzilla.

    Bet if you dropped to 55 you would increase fuel economy a tad without really any loss in travel time. I know i love running cheep fuel. I just filled up for 3.19! Thanks for commenting and watching

    Great focus on bolt! the reason I say this is I have the same unit and sheared the bolt off just as you suggested. The problem I had was when I took the clutch off I could not figure what it was held in by (in the sense of not letting the clutch spin). After 1 hour of trying all positions I viewed your video where I could SEE the missing bolt for the first time. Thanks for great camera work!

    Thanks for your kind thoughts. This is a bad design. The bolt in single sheer is a terrible idea. They have a new strap design that they will send with the new clutch and its a similar set up to the way lawn mowers are run. There is really no excuse for this.
