Hi I'm Liz - the artist behind Procrastipainter. A lot of my pieces are inspired by the beaches of the nearby surf coast in Victoria, Australia. I make art in my spare time (or sometimes when I should be doing something else) from my home studio
OMG! I love that name. It says it all. I’m busy procrastinating right now. Lol This was a lovely project. You make it look easy, like even I could do it.

Is the resin ready yet? or do I have to prepare it? what colors do you use? acrylics for blue? And how long did you wait between one level and another?
@Procrastipainter7 ай бұрын
I'm sorry, I'm not sure I know what you're asking. All pigments and resin I used are in the description box for each video. I wait for each layer to cure before adding the next
@LongMileGamer7 ай бұрын
OK so I used the same materials and the same timing and techniques. 1st layer I couldn't get the lacing to show up after torching. Then the second layer was going normal. While I waited for it to set, I came back after 20 mins and the white was rock hard and so hot I had to take it outside. So I had to mix up more epoxy and white. Used it right away and still couldn't get it to lace up. My torch is very small. Maybe need a bigger torch? What did I do wrong to get only some lacing but very small?
@Procrastipainter7 ай бұрын
Oh nooo! I usually only mix enough white to fill about a finger width of the base of the cup. If you mix too much it'll heat itself and set (like you said). As for the lacing, it could be the way you're blowing it out? Without seeing it I kinda can't help much. Torch size shouldn't matter, you don't need much heat to get it to work. The main thing is getting a nice thin 'sheet' of white over the top of the clear/ coloured layer. Try and lay your heat gun as close to its side as possible, you're trying to blow the thinnest sheet of white possible, not trying to dig into it. I'm hoping that helps 🙂
@LongMileGamer7 ай бұрын
@@Procrastipainter is it possible to wait longer before applying the white and blowing so it doesn't blend into the blue as much?
@Procrastipainter7 ай бұрын
You can wait as long as you're game. Technically if you can still pour the white it should still work. But if you don't want the colour to mix with the white, how about you do 2 separate layers?

@Procrastipainter8 ай бұрын
Thanks for your kind words and for watching 🥰💙 I usually wait till the next day (this resin is pretty much not tacky anymore by then). If you want the surface to be flat you could do a flood coat in the same resin, just don't add pigment. Is that what you mean?
@LongMileGamer8 ай бұрын
@@Procrastipainter yes exactly. The person I am doing an ocean table for is actually going to keep it as an art piece so I won't have to do a flood coat. It's actually a vintage/retro cabinet. I loved your design and I am going with the same colors and techniques. I am being commissioned quite a bit of money to do it. So if I wait 24 hours between coats, will the 2nd coat have a solid bond to the 1st coat at that point of the cure?
@Procrastipainter8 ай бұрын
Sounds like fun! You can give the cured resin a little scratch-up with sandpaper to help with the bond between layers. Obv only where you'll be adding resin, wipe away any dust with isopropyl alcohol. Best of luck! Oh and if you mess it up, it's easier to wipe it off while it's still gooey than it is to sand it all back later and gum up your sander 😉
