    This is Malaysian Peranakan recipe. The garlic is grounded whole and has never been bitter, the brinjals are not skinned to keep it's shape. It's only skinned when eaten steamed. The eyes of the fish are enjoyed by many. But I agree, it's not cooked enough. Coconut milk is added. The taste is not like Indian curry fish. It is milder, with less spices and preferred by the Peranakan community.

    The fish is cooked sufficiently but I also agree to your point that in some recipes, the fish is cooked longer. I prefer mine cooked just right instead of having cooked longer - individual preference but I'm no Peranakan, so maybe I should listen to you and try it next time.... :D

    There is no limit as far as I know but usually Chinese households have this quite frequently, even once a week also good. And during flu season or cold season, this is very suitable

    Is it cook? You toast in the pan not even 1 minute. Anyways i follow your recipe but i will cook a bit longe

    I didn't cook it thoroughly coz the plant can be eaten raw. Also cooking it will kill all the nutrition in the plant. Thanks for watching my video!

    is there any alternative to cornstarch, since cornstarch is one of the most unhealthy and toxic ingredients? Any healthy alternative?

    You could have used a very small strainer or sieve to put spoonfuls of the cornstarch over the eggplants... coats them more evenly

    The nutrients would be in the soup. The flavour from the meat would have gone into the soup as well. Usually we do not eat the ingredients in the soup.

    It isn't a stew lot Jenny, it's a slow cooker, or a crock pot. You can easily find these in any appliances store and is great for making soups and stews. Well worth the investment!

    I've not been in a Chinese store in London, but I did a simple search in Google and found that there are Chinese Medicine stores there. You might want to find a Chinese herbal store instead of Chinese grocer?

    Sorry to hear that, I recommend you taste the sauce mixture before you use it so you can adjust it to suit your taste....

    Thank you for your recipe. Our oil got absorbed quickly by the eggplant. Did you add extra oil? What kind of oil is it?

    Sorry for the late reply, after u salted the eggplant, usually some liquids are released and this is one method to prevent oil absorption. The other method is to coat it lightly with corn starch before frying

    Egg Plant is the most difficult dish to cook and taste great. Many people didn't get right.

    I loved this as a kid. Delicious. We are Vietnamese but a Chinese friend of my mom introduced it to us. It didn't have the black beans and some of the other ingredients. But it was Def the black herbal piece packaged in Asian grocery stores and the pork.

    Bak Kut Teh uses different herbs that are more beneficial for energy boosting.

    @@WanderingWallyCooks If I recall correctly about MYR125. Thailand has high import taxes. It's very, very rare to find scallops here. I only see it in large supermarkets.
