A short video of how I made prawn broth. A prawn broth is something you can make in advance and stored in a freezer or a fridge for later use. Though I recommend that you use it as soon as you cooked it to preserve maximum flavour!
Ingredients for 1 bowl of broth:
- When you prepare your prawns, don't throw the shells away! Put it aside and use it to make this prawn broth. You will need about shells from 500g of prawns
- 1 tbsp of oil
- 300ml of water
- Salt to taste
0:01 Add oil to pan on medium-low heat
0:02 Add prawns shells to pan
0:04 Start tossing the prawns shells well in the pan. Stir often, allowing the prawns shells to cook for about 3 minutes
0:11 Add water and bring to a simmer for about 10 minutes
0:38 Once done, strain the broth into a bowl
0:46 Make sure to press the shells to extract maximum liquid
And you have your broth! If kept frozen, it should last you for 3 months, otherwise, use it as soon as you feel like.
