Hi Paul - Hope all is well. Keeping an eye out for the next video! 🤞 Do you believe the trout to be wild or stocked fish that have strayed down river? Thanks
Hi Elliott, won't be long till next video, had a well earned break from it but made a video yesterday. Hard to tell on the Trout, could easily be either or. Trout are stocked into the darent regularly but I have never caught a small one which makes me think they don't breed very well. This surprises me as the habitat looks ideal and I have seen reeds in the gravels before * I think that's what the dents in gravel are called when Trout spawn. Tights lines. I'm off making a pike video!
Big chub
Love a big Chub, what's your PB
Cracker that paul. I’m not sure if you remember me. It’s luke who used to work on the farm. Just found the videos this morning, great work. Would be great to get in contact👍🏽
How could I forget you Luke! How you doing? Are you still in this country or did you go to NZ?
This is all getting very technical with elastic tensions and lash length. Looked like a cracking days fishing any way. Airity poles as well is a bit posh lol
Thanks for your continued support Neil, to be honest im getting a little disillusioned with it all, I felt that was a good video and the best edit I've done and it's performed very poorly. Any way onwards and upwards. Did you notice the Maver no 6 section in my not so plush airity? A very expensive break that I'm not paying £600 for a new section! Tight lines.
I know what you mean about expensive breaks because I’ve got a Preston and a garbolino pole in the shed needing new sections. Learning to pole fish has been an expensive experience. I nearly brought a new G90 but the shop owner talked me down to the power carp instead because as he said the amount of pole fishing I would do over 13 m would be negative so the extra £1000 would be a waste of money. Keep them coming fella I always enjoy them.
Hallo Polish storks!
Never seen them in England before.
Just luv them perch eh mate, anything over a pound are great,
There's a good head of big perch in there.
Nice job mate, a new water always exciting, looks nice water, im off Tench fishing tomorrow, have a great weekend mate, keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching Clive. Good luck on the Tench, I do wish the weather would warm up a bit to really get the fish feeding.
I went back a few days later and had a great day fishing just for the Perch.
Nice tench for jem,Paul I’ve see Alfie Russell fishing the small lake with the island he was catching loads of bream.
Thanks for watching John. We will definitely return, maybe when the other reservoirs are open in June.
Thanks for using my pic in the thumbnail 😊
Ugly pic
😂😂😂😂😂
It's a great picture. And a mighty fish. Can change it if you wish?
You’re fine mate no problem
That fella with the joint record orfe is ugly eh?
Thanks Barry love you too 😘
Try 6mm expanders on the hook. But i guess you haven,t got any with you today.
Good call Neil, unfortunately didn't have any with me. Thanks for watching.
@@PaulVicaryfishing No thanks for making the vlogs I enjoy watching them. Enjoy your river fishing exploits especially the small river stuff. Major surgery on Tuesday so hopefully I’ll be back on my beloved river thames in the new season something I’ve not been able to do for 2 years. Roach fishing will be a major priority when I get back. Still not had a 2lb plus on the float/pole but they are there.
I know the Tench go to 5lb and there are bream to 4lb but as yet i have not caught one, but its a lovely water to fish, happy Sunday mate.
Ide Original species, Golden orfe are the ornamental version 😁
Thanks for watching Neil. I suspected this was the case.
Hello mate great to see you fishing a place I enjoy, and I still not really crack the place yet, I was going to fish the small Tench lake today, but such a hectic week im knacked, but I will soon, anyway nice to see, all the best...Clive.
Hi Clive, thanks for watching. It's a great water which I returned to last week and fished the bottom end, caught more big tench just pole potting corn and rotating 2 swims. I always leave thinking I've never quite sussed it out. Are there any big Orfe left in any of the lakes?
@@PaulVicaryfishing yes mate I know Lodge Lake has some, last year I saw a real lump bosh out, that golden colour was amazing.
Put a size 10 hook on and 3 pieces of corn
Thanks for watching. yes i need to be a bit more positive sometimes.
You know at night those Bream will come around and mop up all that groundbait like Ron Jeremy's pubes on an all day shoot
You find some nice spots, well done.
Thanks for watching Victor. Always on the look out! Tight lines
Hello Paul tough conditions, worth a check, wow some slab, a flock of seagulls, If I had a photograph of you thats a great song, anyway, cheers mate, happy weekend, im off to kew gardens tomorrow, and next weekend Tench fishing, catch you later mate.
Hi Clive, i will have to check the song out. Good luck Tench fishing, caught a job load of them today at Newdigate fishery. Tight lines.
@@PaulVicaryfishing nice to hear mate, that were I was going next week, just coming back from Kew.
@@PaulVicaryfishing will there be a video of Newdigate Paul?
@@JW-wp1qt Working on it as we speak
That’s a lovely Tinca Paul but I don’t think the Stow is for me!
Thanks for watching. We wernt sure before we got there bit we ended up having a lovely day. Tight lines.
Nice spot . Good little haul . Best wishes to your wife !
Thanks for asking Colin she all well and good now. Tight lines.
@@PaulVicaryfishing Great news ! Thanks for taking the time to reply . Cheers !
It's a bit short but it's a tight hole. Don't want to be plopping in there too much.
Ha ha ha, its funny what we end up saying when you listen back. Tights lines.
I love that stretch of river - cheese paste for chub in that weir pool 😉 Learning to fly fish for trout on it now
Hi Karl, have you had any trout from there?
Lots in the Bourne around Hadlow
@@PaulVicaryfishing - I’ve had a couple, not from the weir but further downstream past the main road, stunning bit of river
Amazing brother ❤❤
Love ya
Love rivers like this well done Paul, enjoyed very much.
Thanks for watching Clive. hope your coping with out the rivers?
@@PaulVicaryfishing it's tough but I'm still fishing the lakes mate lol 😆
I’ve found this lovely spot thanks to you Paul and have also had roach, chub and ide. Will you fish it for trout with lures during the close season? Hoping your wife is ok.
Thanks for watching JW, glad you've enjoyed this spot as well. My good lady is fine, thanks for asking. Tight lines.
Noted on the need for larger tips on the floats Paul, will get on that and get a mark 2 version for you to try.
Thanks Rob, really enjoyed using them, just had a little too much water on that day for that particular float.
Lovely little stream an great video, what's the reel you're using in the video if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks for watching. It's a little cracker. The reel is a shimano Stradic. Facebook market place, £35. Bargain! Tight lines.
@@PaulVicaryfishing fantastic, thank you. Time to go reel hunting 🙂
I put chub in a keepnet Paul . Just in case 👍
Probably best but getting banned in some clubs. I also don't want to carry to much if i can help it. Tight lines.
I wouldn’t mind living in that house opposite, a nice chalk stream at the end of the garden!
Not a bad spot is it? Thanks for watching.
Nice spot. Which river?
What a lucky man i am to have such wonderful fishing so close by.
Well done Paul a special day - the season has ended. The river will summon you in a couple of months. Something I read - 'If I die I hope my wife doesn't sell my fishing gear for what I told her I paid for it.'
Morning Victor, alas the season is closed but it does give me the opportunity to explore new waters. Tight lines
Like the Spaghetti western strike for that tench mate,a few nice pike there for you eh,still very wet underfoot everywhere ain't it mate
Thanks for watching. Yes still pretty wet out there but it will go from bog to baked in a couple of weeks, guaranteed.
We all need some motivation when things start getting tough. So many people get such a lot out of fishing whether its a peaceful day in the country or a quest for the biggest. You do persevere and it shows in your videos. (Nice couple of barbel - on meat?).
Morning Victor, it can cross the line sometimes. Clive lodgsdons comments further down tell of people giving up after a prolonged spell of blanks. PS 1 Barbel on meat and 2 on paste
Half pint of whites, 3 bb Avon, 2 pound line... Heaven
Morning, nothing beats a nice mixed bag. Tight lines.
Hi Paul, lol great job clint, I love waters like that, hope your easter is a good one, just brought a new float rod, to will test it out for some silvers tomorrow, all the best mate.
Morning Clive thanks for your continued viewing. Its a great bit of water( probably the best spot on the whole river ) what rod did you get?
@@PaulVicaryfishing Ibrought the Drennen float rod X-tension 13 ft pushs down to 12ft when traveling, and put it through its paces, well pleased, so some editing to do the video should be up by tomorrow evening, all the best Paul.
They will add an armchair for you if you ask. What a lazy way to fish for grayling.
Thanks for watching me being lazy.
I hope you had another go, with the line re spooled. There's a lot of muscle memory involved in centrepin fishing. If you persevere it'll soon become more natural. You'll find that your thumb is a comfortable way to control the spool (line off the bottom). It's a really rewarding way to fish once you get comfortable with it.
Thanks for watching. Great advice, I have respooled and it was better, have found the low gearing tricky when bullying Chub away from snags as you cannot gain line quick enough. I do love the constant contact with the float, but found it does drag the float everso slightly. The constant contact aspect has led be to improve my "backwinding" a float off a fixed spool which is equally as good and can still gain line quickly. I will need to upgrade as the real handle and body are not one piece and the line tends to get caught in the gap.( any excuse to buy more fishing gear)
Looked lovely down there Paul, those drains/sewers down there hold some cracking fish. When I fished Darenth many moons ago a guy who basically lived on the tip lake and whose name escapes me ended up in a loony bin through carp fishing and my eldest brother decided to pack it in cos he wasn't catching, he'd phone me up in the middle of night asking if it was this or that he was doing wrong. I asked a guy I met in the car park at Sevenoaks last summer who looked bedraggled and totally pissed off how he'd got on he looked at me and said he'd just finished his 48th night without a bite😲😲, I thought that perhaps he should have a go for another species, another guy I've got to know quite well as we've been fishing the same lake has finally had a couple of decent carp after five years of blanking yet he always has a smile on his face and we have a good laugh, everybody is different, some can handle it, some can't. That's why I enjoy having a go for different fish every now and then.. ust thought I'd tell a few stories lol
That's some great story's and makes my effort look quite insignificant. I do wonder why some anglers do it, I spoke to an angler on Bough beech who hadn't caught anything for 5 years! Some anglers are guilty of just going through the motions and not working hard enough. During that anglers long blank spell another angler was tearing the place apart. Bank tramps and river rats.🤣
The Dunge
Well done nice fish from a samll river. How come it is so hard to get a club card on the Eden seems all the clubs have long waiting lists and I.m 79 will I live long enough I ask myself? 🤣
Thanks for watching. All clubs seem to have waiting list now, I was debating this recently with a guy who works in a tackle shop. We spoke of a club that now has a 8 year waiting list and said how many members are not active but don't want to lose the ability to fish those waters, so just pay every year. It's a tricky issue that should be addressed. FYI, EBAS clears its waiting list most years. Tight lines.
Well done Paul lovely fish
Thanks for your continued support. I was rather pleased, I'm quite glad I ballsed up the trophy shot as I was a bit emotional. I spent a lot of time after those fish a few years back during a difficult time for me personally. The pursuit of a double became a little sanctuary for me mentally. Tight lines.
At last, well done Paul. I put it down to my age but like you i fish for different species so i have lists of things i have to take with me, not sure what your excuse is😉😉😉
Hi Clive i wish i was as organised to make a list, its quite often "quick ive got 2hrs i can fit a bit of a fish for X,Y or Z" grab it and go. PS please thank your friend for the hook he gave me.
@@PaulVicaryfishing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
So reassuring to hear that I’m not the only one to leave his rods at home😂. I had to buy a new one though as I was 150 miles from home😢😩. You’ve inspired me to chase the few barbel down here in the West Country next season 👍
Thanks for watching Michael. Go get those Barbel, the satisfaction will be worth the effort.... Eventually ( took me best part of 4 years to catch that fish! ) Tight lines.
So what did it weigh Mr Vicary?
It left a weighty impression on me!
Ha ha…..
Nicely done Paul
Love your content mate great fishing as always 👍
Thanks for watching. And for the kind comment. tight lines
you never said how much it weighed, or will that be revealed in part 3?
No weight is needed
Wow what a fish. I admire your enthusiasm the Eden is a hard enough river to fish anyway - let alone in the winter floods. Most wouldn't bother. Well done
Thanks Victor. I was a little anxious about catching one but I'm very lucky to be so close to the river so able to have a quick go. I feel people are often put off by the conditions, but there's been lots of little windows when it's fishable this winter. Tight lines
Smell in these conditions is the answer Paul, pump up those krill dumbbells, dont forget to take your hooks😂😂 not going to let you forget that
Morning Clive. Do you pump them with a pellet pump?
@@PaulVicaryfishing morning Paul, sorry I meant give them a glug in some hydrolised krill or other fish liquid, you can do it in layers as well, glug and coat with krill powder and let that dry out and do it again
I did have a few attempts to catch one of the very elusive Canterbury barbel, after many blanks gave up the quest to preserve my sanity.
Hi JW those Barbel near Canterbury are a bit cunning. I did manage to snare 2 a few years back. Haven't been for a couple of seasons as last time I went I didn't spot 1 ! I was dubious if they were still there or had been predated. Are there still a few around the town?
@@PaulVicaryfishingI’ve not heard of any Paul but as you know it’s all very hush hush and I’ve lost touch with my informant. 😊
Its bloody tough, in the next two videos i explain a bit how i changed my approach to it, and coping with the blanks.
