What Happened To All The Fish? A Shocking Revelation!

Спорт

Where have all the fish gone? Exploring new rivers is great fun, but not all rivers are the same. I stumble across a polluted river with NO fish in despite it looking lovely.

Thats such a shame, the rivers have been tough over the years, and yes your right, more needs to be done to protect thes

Will the government ever have an appetite to do it?

I’m sad to say even the big deep stretch of the Thames I fish is being heavily affected by the sewage now. Lots of the fish are getting weird red soars on them and they are having to stay out in the flow to avoid the buildup of pollutants gathering in the slacks. They have completely vanished from one section which is close to a Thames water works outlet! 😢

Thanks for watching. That's sad to hear. The government did pass a bill last year I believe that made the finest bigger but didn't go far enough to force the companies to invest in upgrading the infrastructure 😩

I fished the GROM the other side of the railway bridge this week, no fish present and a visible colouration at the confluence to the Medway

Thank you for watching, it's all very sad, but I think the upper medway is getting quite a bit of pollution pressure. RTWAS work is fantastic, and I hope them highlighting the issue will build pressure on the water companies to fix problems. It's a real shame the Grom is a lovely little river. I'm glad it's not just my angling abilities 🤣

The GROM had a pollution in 2005 or 06 but I still caught lots of fish in the following years including Grayling and Brownies plus Rudd to over a pound!. RTWAS received nearly £14,000 in compensation for that event.@@PaulVicaryfishing

All too familiar these days! although its always been happening, the public are less tolerant. I also wonder whether water metering is a factor, people more thrifty with water so effluent is less diluted. Reservoirs in my area were brim full at the end of September last year - are people using less? I'm hoping to try a fairly local small river that was reportedly wiped out by farm slurry effluent 2 years ago, see if there's any recovery, or the rumours were over stated. keep 'em coming Paul 👍👍

Thanks for your continued support. It's a very sad state of affairs and I don't think the private water companies give a crap ( No pun intended) Good luck on the new venue 🤞there still some fish in it.

Very sad - looked a nice stream and the anticipation to fish it must of been nice. Is there an answer? - These company's get away with it for so long and just pay the fines when found out.

Thanks for watching Victor. Yes I was quite keen but soon sussed something was up. There's a gradual ground swell of public opinion against it which I'm hoping will over take the increase in houses being built.

Most of these water companies owners are foreigners, I bet they wouldn't pollute in their rivers eh mate

I don't think they care, even if it IS in their back yard, so long as it makes profit.
