Factor 85 Labs

Being a dad is a great adventure and an even greater responsibility. While all men might not approach being a dad the same way, we should all be working to constantly improve ourselves and practice the actions, attitudes, and skills that we want our children to learn. This channel is just that. A dad, just doing dad sort of things, doing projects that include my kids when possible, and playing with tools and gear, because what dad doesn't enjoy some fun gadgets every now and then. Welcome to the laboratory of dad life.

    Some of this wood is a bit sketchy, and it is a lot harder to work with than new lumber, but I think the end results will be ok. And it was definitely the right price. 👍

    There were thousands of channels started up during the fun days of 2020 when we were all at home alone, and mine is just a small thing, so it is pretty easy to miss. But I am glad you found it, hopefully I can continue to make content you enjoy.

    @@Factor85Labs Yup, I took the YT dive in 2020 as well. Working from home gave me more time to get back into martial arts and collecting, the market is massive compared to when I started in the 70s, and I've made connections and learned more than I could ever imagine. Silver linings.

    Not sure. If redcoats are anything like firewood or pumpkins, I guess it would work pretty well.

    Thanks for the video. I don't have years of experience with knives, but there's something intuitive about the traditional design. I'm sure that I would cut my thumb off if I tried to use a Clinch Pick. I'm glad that knife is available for those who love it. I doubt that I'd ever get one. My first choice for this kind of situation would be a push dagger. Of the three (push dagger, TDI, or Clinch Pick), I can see where the Clinch Pick would be the most comfortable to carry. I'm disabled, so going to the TDI class wouldn't be feasible financially or physically. I wish I could attend a class like that.

    Update to those like me watching this in 2024. The Clinch Pick comes as a version 2 for a better grip. There is also a very similar knife by the same company if you like a longer handle. The TDI is pretty much unchanged but comes in two sizes and is cheaper.

    first of, i am European, so "MAde in America" doesnt mather to me that much lastly i dont pretend to be a firstline law enforcement officer. I just bought a Knock off for 50 euro's because the add made me believe it was the real deal (sneaky bastards changed the add after i send them an email with questions and pretend nothing happened) My problem is this. if i buy something as a Raptor Rescue sheers, i want to be sure, that if and when i need it, it works. cause it means somebody or myself need it to get home or something. i ones bought a folding knife, which had a glass breaker at the back, carried it for 2 years or something. blade went dull but the seatbelt cutter reamained fine. I am little bit of gearwhore, so when a better en cooler looking one from a A-brand company crossed my path i had to buy it. the previous one i took to a car graveyard and the seatbelt cutter worked fine, but the glassbreaker...... i flattened like it was made of tin... so picture that in those previous 2 years i would have had to use it, i coulndt.... that really "hurt"my sense of pride and made me really "step away" from all the cheap but interesting China copy's. add to that the loss of passion form the maker and the added weight that all these knockoffs and there makers add to our world (polution, trash, resources waisted etc) I have one standpoint; if i cant pay for the realdeal, i have do without. cant be that when the time comes, i try to to whats right and some capitalist chinese pig got rich, but myself and the person in need dont go home. ps: i want to be able to relay on minimum the glassbreaker and the ringcutter (i wear alot of rings) and when mine knockoff really could fool anyone (i works better then the knockoff in the revieuw) those 2 things, on mine, also dont give the enough positive feedback to safely trust. pps: any blade can cut, and any shears can be made sharp. its those special tools like the glassbreaker, ring cutter en O2 tank wrench, where the cut is made between "good enough" and "realiable" for when the time comes. maybe the author can "test" these parts cause i am guessing that that is defining foctor

    I have this Doohickey Ratchet and really like it with some modification. First, I took their bits out to save weight. I typically need more clearance than half a bit above what I am trying to fasten or unfasten with a screw. Their bits have a ball detent and what I use does not. So what I use (the Steinwhale Stubby bit extender) passes through the ratchet and catches on the top of the extender cylinder. I don't mind this, as I can just put downward pressure on the extender cylinder when screwing something in. I don't need the ratchet to "retain" the extender. This Steinwhale bit extender allows me to use double-sided Steinwhale stubby bits, double-sided Wiha bits and even Leatherman bits. Finally, there is a back up ratchet in case the main unit fails or in case there is not enough room to use the main ratchet. The bottle opener has a lip to it. The curved portion of the bottle opener fits a 1/4" hex bit or extender. The lip portion catches the hex going one direction, and the lip disengages going the other direction. As with the main ratchet, just turn the pry bar over to go the other direction. It's a genius bottle opener design that basically does the same thing EverRatchet built their whole brand on, and more pry bar and knife makers should pay heed to this design.

    At 31, to this day I have never knowingly met my father and never will. I even went as far as legally changing my name to separate from my family completely. I can definitely say I am one of the lucky ones in terms of what I've been able to achieve and being fortunate enough to now be a stay at home. Haven't had to deal with the dating scene in, oof, 14 years? It's so wild watching what has been going on with "young" folk and how having absentee parents influences accountability. Keep doing your dad thangg.

    A professional should have a Leatherman, purchased by the organisation he works for. It seems to me an individual is better of with a knock off. The problem with tools like this is that you have to use them in emergency situations and individuals are not really used to that, so in their stress they may loose the thing on the site and first realise that when they're home again or so. It is a pain when you loose tools, but $100 hurts more then $27. In a decent organisation, there should be a stash with equipment like this, so if one is lost, or broken it can be replaced as soon as the user has returned to base.

  • @Factor85Labs
    @Factor85Labs25 күн бұрын

    Yeah, every organization I have worked for has supplied only the most basic (and cheapest) scissors and shears. If you want nicer tools, usually you pay for them yourself.

    @@Factor85Labs I would think they do it the other way around. I could imagine that an organisazion with say 200 employees can make better deals then an individual visiting a shop or internet site.

    Mine has what I consider an excessive amount of water dribbling out the bottom of the sprinkler, and therefore not spraying out the spray arms. The result is a lot of water pooling and draining along the track of the sprinkler. (The spray arms are spraying, and the sprinkler is moving forward, but not as fast perhaps as it should.) Is this normal?? Any ideas how to correct it? Thank you!

    This pack is my favorite of the lot I own. Its clean design and comfort are unmatched. All your cons are kinda funny when you dive into them. You complain about webbing you use wrong, you got a grey man pack then complain it’s too grey man, the top section is huge and simple to navigate but you obviously over stuffed it. People say good review but they are being misled.
