    This isn't even a amateur synth! These were used by Rammstein, KMFDM, and Kraftwerk!

    I had one of these when I was a kid, I also picked one out because it had a lot of buttons. By the time I was 10 (1991), I was already bored of it. I bought a used Roland Jupiter 8 when I was 15. I still have both, but only the Jupiter gets played.

    I will say, I would argue the SC-55 is at least equal to the MT-32 in terms of sound quality, and they aren't compatible with eachother, so I dunno if i'd say either is the best sound for DOS games.

    7:04 But what about bouncing? You can record 2 or 3 instruments individually and then join them by recording on the 4. track together, making space for more instruments. It will worsen a quality a bit if done several times I guess, but you don't need more recorders 😎

    I used to play those auto-chords that you never used thru a cheap guitar chorus, and it sounded amazing (to my young ears) Thanks for the trip down memory lane with this one :)

    For those wondering how it was done back in the day - you'd "bounce" multiple tracks down into a single track. So drums might get four tracks for mixing, but you'd combine all of that onto a new tape. There was a loss in quality, but you'd effectively have more tracks. This is how all of the big bands (including the Beatles) did it back in the 60s.

    This was such a ridiculous undertaking, I was always impressed by the ingenuity it took to get it to work, even if it wasn't perfect.

    I'm hoping that he would eventually do a Yamaha MIE-1 Video since if he did the Miracle Piano then at least do a keyboard that deserves justice and coverage that nobody sees in the history of Yamaha outside a classroom setting.

    Just bought a used HT-700 but it did not come with the power adapter. The seller said it works with batteries but this was before he sold it to me and then ghosted me. My question is, is there a specific type of battery this keyboard uses in order to power it up? Or a regular D size battery should work? Or did I just get scammed? lol

  • @michaelturner4457
    @michaelturner445722 күн бұрын

    Should work on any D size battery, preferable alkaline type. Check the battery compartment and contacts are free of corrosion and crust.

    I miss this channel sooooooo much and I do believe there's a lot left to explore, like the Yamaha Portasound VSS-100, which has an in built microphone + sampler, so you'd be able to record your voice and play it all over the keyboard as chords. Also, cassette portastudios are becoming really popular again, so you'd do a video with one of those, using toy keyboards/instruments to create a song with or whatever.

    Wow, can we say keyboard snobbery?m Calling the keyboards crappy actually kind of offended me. The PSS-130 was the first keyboard my parents got me. When they saw how much I took to that “crappy” keyboard, playing it along with Mannheim Steamroller’s “Deck the Halls”, Depeche Mode’s “Just Can’t Get Enough” and other ssuch songs, they got me a PSR-47 next, then a PSR-400…and from there I got into Sony Acid, FL Studio, VST Synths, Roland Fantom G8, etc. None of that would’ve happened without my parents first testing the waters with the “amazing” PSS-130 in 1987. It did what it was designed to do, and that was introduce a kid to keyboards and spark the imagination. So please, you might refrain from calling things crappy if you want people to continue to watch your videos.

    I use this synth regularly for talkboxing at gigs. I got mine in 2007 and it's undergone numerous repairs ranging from loose memory chips, MIDI sockets and audio outputs to loose voltage regulators and cracked pitch bend stanchions. I also used a DX21 for a few years when the DX100's reliability was in question. It still has the factory battery in it but I'll change it when the time comes. I check it for voltage and leakage frequently.
