3:40 You know you're a geek when... you can play the theme from an 80s adventure game from memory. (Of course, I'm nearly as much of a geek for recognizing the Space Quest 3 theme variation offhand...)
@KuraIthys
5 жыл бұрын
No idea. I recognised the theme as Space quest, but then I was playing around with the space quest series round about 1998. Come to think of it, the test recordings I made right before trying to do some gaming videos on my channel contain a bunch of things, but one of the things I was testing was how to record DOS games - and the game I used to test this with was Space Quest 5... So... Yeah, I guess recent experience with such things helps a lot. XD

Using that potentiometer on the left with the longs legs at 7:12, you can tune the keyboard up or down. If you swap it out for a larger value/range potentiometer, you can detune the keyboard an entire octave or more in either direction. This same potentiometer is used in the entire PT lineup as far as I know. I made this modification to my PT-10, and it produces some incredible bass notes now. Since the value of the potentiometer changes the microprocessor's clock speed, it will affect everything connected to it, so the tempo of ROM cartridge songs will also be affected. I have noticed a slight bit of lag in the keys if you make the pitch too low, and there's a point where the microprocessor's synthesis will just stop functioning due to the incredibly low clock speed. Just thought this might make a cool topic for a future video, since it applies to all PT keyboards.

Welcome back!!
Great video! I'm sure you been asked about the CZ-101 more than once, but I'd love to hear your opinion on that keyboard's fascinating sounds/design as well as phase distortion synthesis in general. I understand that you typically prefer to review amateur keyboards, but I think that would make for a really cool video! Thanks again for the quality entertainment! Cheers!
First time commenter here! That’s my favorite song you’ve made with a keyboard so far! Limitation can actually make for some amazing results. 🤟🏻
I had a small monophonic Casio keyboard, too. Thanks for the great video.
thanks for making my day
This is my favorite song you’ve composed so far. Great Job

@James Alexander That’s not it!!!
I love how the 8 bit guy produces beautiful music from such obsolete equipment. Stupendous!
OMG!!!!! A new video! Awesome!!
Loved the Ready Player One melody you used to demonstrate the reed!
I love the new intro!
I had a PT-100 as my first keyboard too. So nostalgic.
I Love your new intro music!

Your new intro is amazing
The Star Wars track reminds me of an album I’ve heard called “Music Inspired by Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk.”
Yeah, finally! I'm hoping for more frequent episodes.
