    The ideal fsd car for me would drop me off at the store, enable me to tell it to park in a shaded spot and move itself to other shaded spots as the sun moves (to keep the car cool) and when I'm done, finds me wherever I am in the shopping complex (via GPS) and picks me up.

    I think the visualization is a mental image formed from a combination of what it sees and the simple map data. The map data probably still says it's a two way road and that means it thinks of it as having a dividing line. However the actual driving seems to focus more on what it actually sees.

    @@BadL_ For one thing, you hear the truck going beep beep beep, which means he will continue reversing. By taking much less of a wide turn, you allow the cars on the other side to pass as well. You can always slow down when you pass by the truck, so that you can stop safely if someone is behind the truck, without the need to take your swing to the other side of the road. That Tesla was pretty close to the car on the other side of the road by taking this maneuver so wide. You can be safe without inconvenience to other drivers, just slow down, and put your phone down and pay attention to what's going on behind the truck and in front of you and you'll outperform the bs autopilot anytime.

    Used FSD leaving a parking lot and pulling into cross traffic. The FSD didn’t see a car that was hidden temporarily behind a large for lease sign, and pulled out. I saw the other car disappear behind the sign, but I knew it was still there and would be coming out in front of us. I think FSD thought it just disappeared and wasn’t a problem, so pulled forward. Luckily I knew better and applied the breaks.

    Some people may already know about this but...I just made a discovery while driving on FSD. When I turned the corner it seemed like the blue FSD wheel icon was moving. I just thought I was tripping, it is hot outside and I was hungry. While navigating through the parking lot the FSD icon looked crooked to the left. Coming out of the parking lot onto the Main Street I had to make a very sharp turn. While turning I looked at the FSD icon and noticed it was turned all the way in the direction I was going in. Also, when you change lanes the icon slightly turns the same way.

    @BadL_ No, the unit price of a camera as installed in the Tesla is presumably around 2 dollars, the remaining eight dollars presumably account for the necessary cable laying and the punching of the opening. All in all, about ten dollars. Large customers pay a very low price for finished technology.

    There is no such thing as fast autopilot. First you have to be going 8 mph or less for the system to show possible parking spots. So that adds a lot of time. Most people go faster when selecting a spot. Second, the car only backs up at 1mph which is terribly slow compared to how fast the average driver backs in themselves. Third, it takes too long for the car to start moving once you select the start button. Have I used it yes but every time I do the slowness is painful. And I do agree setting the car up for the spot is important but not enough for me to want to use auto park very often. Even Tesla has admitted auto park is slow and they will speed it up.

  • @DerekDavis213
    @DerekDavis213Ай бұрын

    Isn't is much faster and easier if a human with big brain just parks the car himself? In a crowded parking lot, nobody has time to dikk around with slow Autopark.

    I agree with what you said. People are not driving far enough ahead of the parking space before hitting the space with the 'P' in it. I drive ahead and when it lights up I pull ahead about 1/2 of another space to give it enough room to get the trajectory just right to park in one shot. There has been maybe like 3 or 4 times the car had to correct itself in some way.
