Tesla FSD 12.3.3 - The Wrong Turn Lane
Ғылым және технология
In FSD 12.3, I experienced an ongoing issue with the car getting in the wrong lane for a turn at an intersection. In this video, I attempt to recreate the scenario at the same intersection to see if the issue is 12.3.3 fixed the issue or if it's still a problem.

Thanks for the update. It was beneficial to get a second view of FSD.
The white line has waaay too much curve here. Its end aligns with the inner white line. So it looks like a closed up shoulder
Lane planning and indecisions is pretty bad in 12.3.3 where I live as well. It's probably the biggest regression IMO.
The fact that it slowed and then allowed time for manual take over is great cause there will be situations where some things just dont make sense. That said, the amount of data tesla receives like this situation will allow hiccups to be less and less in occurrence. Everyone is expecting a flawless design currently which is not the case at the moment; what is the case is that its improving exponentially from one version to the next and soon will perform saver than 90% of drivers out there, and in time much better than that…
About to change . Sees solid line and not dotted line so thinks it’s a shoulder. City needs to fix that!

Sure, but cities aren't going to fix all the roads and humans have no problem here. FSD and robotaxi will have to deal with these very easy to handle cases for humans.
Wondering what the navigation is telling it? I notice when my car makes the same mistake on 12.3.3. the navigation says there are only 3 lanes for example and it is telling the car to turn left from the middle of the 3 lanes. Where in reality there are four and it disregards the far left lane as oncoming traffic lane and therefore uses the third lane from the left which is a not a turn lane.
Doesn’t seem like it’s using the arrows on the ground for routing (had a similar issue yesterday, except the car got in the right turn lane and was incorrectly going to go straight, there was construction on the road that might have confused it)
I had same issue. hopefully, tesla will fix this trouble soon.
What would happen if you actually showed it the right thing to do multiple times would it then understand what it needed to do?
If you play it frame by frame at 1:37 you can see the orange light coming on first on the tesla, then on the traffic light :)

Syncing of the two videos was slightly off 😉
Looks like the solid lines confused FSD!

Any human driver would not be confused. A high school kid would do fine.

@@DerekDavis213 I agree that human drivers would handle it, however I bet most human drivers drive right over the solid white line too.

The solid line has a strange curve, and I guess FSD didn't think it can merge to the left lane respecting the line.
Lane markings are a shit job. Odd case would confuse drivers.
Tesla released FSD(Supervised) v12.3.6.
Yeah those white lines don't make any sense...

Sure, it’s the lanes fault, that the car is doing the wrong thing

No normal person would be confused there, this is $10,000 software it should be able to solve that by now.
Why is it so low quality compared to other KZreadrs
At 0:55 FSD is all mixed up. Confused. omg Any human driver could make that turn. Easy as pie. Very clear lane markings. This example really shows that FSD goes by map data and GPS coordinates. It cannot see the road and think/analyze like a human driver.

While I don’t know why it did this in this situation, I know for a fact that it does not solely rely on navigation. I can take it to new areas not yet mapped or even temporary construction zones and it’s able to navigate through cone patterns. I also have video examples of it taking faster routes despite what the navigation says. I’m confident this will get fixed in the next version

@@TeslaFSD _I’m confident this will get fixed in the next version_ That's what people said after FSD 11.3, 11.4, 12.1, 12.2 and 12.3 Do you see a pattern here? Another KZreadr drove up to a gate, going into a gated community. FSD did not see it, and was ready to drive right thru the gate. 8 cameras, ultra-fast processing, and FSD cannot see a gate right in front of the car!

@@DerekDavis213 glad the wright brothers didn't have you around on all their test flights.... Pretty sure over time they figured it out. The multiple iterations are progress. You keep thinking Rome was built in a day.

I posted a video from a few versions ago of v12 handling the gate at a gated community just fine and have tested it more with no issues. That rapid progress you’ll see is coming because of the end to end neural nets in v12. The difference between 11 and 12 is mind blowing. Night and day. And the rate of improvements and updates are something we haven’t seen in a long time

@@TeslaFSD And yet just *two* *days* *ago* another Tesla owner was testing 12.3.4 , and it almost drove thru a gate. In broad daylight! Yes, yes we know: v12 is much better than the awful v11 software. But that is not going to get you to Full Autonomy! The latest, freshest 12.3.4 is still a simple minded Level 2 assistant. Nothing more.
