    How has this reel held up after multiple seasons of use in the salt? Having a hard time finding an answer to that online. Super interested in picking one up but would like to know about long term durability

    I know this is an old video, but can you elaborate on what type of fishing conditions you are in? Do you fish from your boat or do you regularly wade fish where the reel is exposed to more saltwater? Also what type of regular maintenance do you do? I regularly wade/surf fish with my Shimano baitcasters and they get dunked all the time. All I do is thoroughly rinse with freshwater at the end of the day while on a fishing trip (5-7 days), and when I get home oil the bearings. Ive had the reels for about 5 years and all the spools still spin like new. I think it will be hard to replace ball-bearings with a new technology that will perform for same length of time.

    I have a 238dlv and a brand new 115sho Yamaha to put in it and am thinking about trading the 115 and getting a reg 150 Yamaha but I’m not sure cause they say the 115sho puts out 126hp so it might be enough if I could hit 45 then I’d be happy

  • @getthenettv6093
    @getthenettv60933 жыл бұрын

    If you're running the 115 I think you should try a 19x15 3 blade prop if your running a light load and a 17x15 3 blade if you're running a little heavier. We were running a 19x15-1/4" 3 blade but the command thrust has a 2.38:1 gear ratio and the sho has a 2.15:1 gear. Let me know what works for you but if that 115 sho has the power you should be able to touch 45 with the 19

    @@getthenettv6093 the lower unit won’t fit anything over 14 dia, I think you have your dia and pitch mixed up when you say a prop size it’s always the dia first and then pitch a prop with so if you were saying a 15-19 that’s a giant prop that would go on a v6 or v8 outboard motor and with that large of a dia prop would be called a pusher prop something that would go on a large displacement boat or a pontoon boat, the proper size for a normal v4 outboard on a normal boat would be in the 13in diameter prop range, 13 131/4 13/ 3/4 ect and possibly a 14 but then your getting into a pusher prop size that will start looking more like a fan blade then a prop

    You’re not supposed to use the Chronarch MGL in saltwater so this option is great. I’ve had time with both and they are identical feeling in casting and retrieve. I’m more of a bass guy but I think I’m gonna get the G.

    IMO that chronarch is bad ass. The z isn't terrible but not in the same category as SHIMANO. I would rather an slx over a z. You might try to go with a little less braid it looked kind of over full.

    What? Huh? You state, "I have a 24 ft center console boat and run a 36 volt motor" And then you say use a 48 volt motor for under 21 ft boat and a 36 volt over 21ft. Huh? Are you stoned smoking crack or from Texas? Ok boys! Here are the facts. To save you a little time from listening to this dope. Recommended electric motors are not in measured in volts but POUNDS OF THRUST. SO FOR EVERY 100 LBS OF BOAT IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU HAVE 2LBS OF THRUST YA ALL! Hope you read this first and saved you some time.

Called motorguide and was told to buy the motor and install it myself. There are 3 minn kota service centers within 30 minutes of me. If you live in South Florida, motorguide's warranty is like Obama Care, you have insurance but you cant use it.

    Had the xi5 105. Got the extended warranty too. Good thing I did. Replaced motor, gps board twice, mother or main board twice and the shaft. Two weeks ago died again. MG warranty shop called MG and went to bat for me again. MG said they’d send me a new one. But today....received a letter from mercury saying I had exceeded the warranty dollar limit in repairs under my warranty and they canceled my warranty effective two days ago and they were nice Singh to include the warranty contracts with a big yellow highlighted section. I was shocked. And Pi**ed. Went and bought an Ultrex today. Thank you and goodbye Motorguide.
