Hi! I currently do not offer 1:1's because I'm a little tight on time. However you could let me know what exactly you want to learn and send it to me via mail ([email protected]) Maybe I could squeeze you in next weekend, but I'm not 100% sure Here's what I need to know from you via mail: -which operating system do you use -whats your time zone -what topic do you want to learn about -how long do you plan the session to be -are you fluent in English? (If not, what's your native language?) Best regards! PK

Someone please help, how do you get the glass to be so clear, every time i try this the glass comes out still noisy it never comes out as clear as his especially when i have a area where i can see another layer of glass through the first one
@philipkriegel27 күн бұрын
Make sure your roughness is reasonably low. Also make sure your normals are facing the right direction by selecting everything in edit mode and pressing shift+N. If you are still getting darker spots then make sure that under the light path settings you turn the glossy rays higher (something like 10 or 12) Hope this helps

Tutorial is super helpful, but there's a couple things I'm baffled by- where is the mottling texture on your glass coming from? Also did you change the lighting? I followed along, my result is nice but not quite this nice
@philipkriegelАй бұрын
It's just the lighting from the HDRI. The texture you're referring to is just the background being refracted by the mesh, when rendering glass topology is really important for the final look of refractive objects.
@Mr.McWatsonАй бұрын
@@philipkriegel Does the thickness of the glass in the model play a role like it would in reality? I think my glass a few mm too thick but not sure...
@philipkriegelАй бұрын
Yes, the thickness of the glass is just as important in 3D as it is in reality. When it comes to path teaching, the render engine tries to simulate reality as closely as possible with all of it's variables, so it's generally a good idea to stick to real world measurements when making a model so everything reflects and refracts as expected
Ι've watched tons of tutorials about making glass and this one is by far the most complete in any way possible.10/10!

@Vickey3Dmotion4 ай бұрын
Awesome, thank you. But what is it doing exactly and why is the default smoothing wrong?
@philipkriegel4 ай бұрын
Basically what the normal smoothing is doing is: it takes 3 vertices and interpolates the normals between them to make it smooth without taking geometry into account This method does the same, but it also takes surface sizes and angles into account, making sure that you don't get rounded faces where you don't want them, that's why most glass looks odd :)
