Hello! Is it alright if i use footage from this video for a University film project? Its about the legacy of Collis P. Huntington, but I dont have the time to sit around train tracks waiting for a train like this.

Hey there! I’m looking to make an “Engines of CSX” episode on the SD80MAcs, and I was wondering if I could use some parts of this video since there are not a ton of SD80MAc clips? I always give credit on the video and link the channel in the description.

Awesome!!.... Sprigg is where I grew up, just east of Williamson, close to Matewan. The green hills are even more beautiful and glorious than I remember them. In my time there, 1940's, early 50's coal was king and the mighty Steam Locomotive pulling hundreds of loaded coal-cars a common sight to behold.... Your video takes me home again.... I thank you mightily... Take care, keep up the good work... and God bless...West By God Virginia.

Thank You for the video. I went to WV Tech Montgomery WV 1982 - 1988. John Carrier and I would rail fan my first 3 years around the area on the weekends. The rails looked wobbly in this video. That is probably due to worn out rail bed ballast. It both clogs up and breaks down. The rails looked fresh and new when I was around the area and they were. CSX actually removed the tracks and roadbed ballast in Montgomery, placed down geo textile fabric, then fresh roadbed ballast, cross ties, new 136 pound rail and tie ballast. They used concrete cross ties east of Montgomery for about 3 miles. When I rode Amtrak's Cardinal back from my my home in Northern Virginia, the concrete tie section just before Montgomery was the smoothest ride along the my entire trip. It was super pleasant! I look at it now with Google satellite view and a few street view scenes and can tell the concrete ties have been replaced with wooden ties. Those concrete ties made for a smooth ride! My guess they couldn't stand up to the pounding from coal trains. I hope newer version would, because it sure seemed like the best compromise for heavy freight traffic with passenger trains! I became a member of the C&O Historical Society because of being right on the CSX tracks at my school. It is interesting to see crude-by-rail flowing on these tracks. I don't normally think of Virginia having crude oil refineries for these trains so I wonder where their start and end destination are. A few years ago I was actually attracted back to look at the area because of derailment and fire from a crude oil train just east of Montgomery. This is a scenic Amtrak route. I do wish the train traveled faster and had a better ride. A vista dome car would be great. I'd like to see the CSX tracks upgraded to accept double stack containers. The C&O main line through here was famous for its tight tunnel clearances. It's why C&O's large steam engines resorted to having their air pumps on the front of the locomotive. Now it's a lot easier to day light or increase the the height of RR tunnel than it was decades ago. I'd hope this RR line gets those upgrades so it can be a though double stack container corridor and ensure its continued value as coal traffic decreases. They are just not building new coal fired plants and the existing ones, especially 1950s and 1960s plants are reaching the end of their lives. There is still the export coal business which might grow especially for metallurgical coal, but double stack container trains are a definite advantage continued high use.
