EMD Tier 4 Demonstrators Street Running [HD]

1/21/2017
On a cloudy afternoon, CSX eastbound mixed freight train Q316 is seen making its way through the street running trackage of downtown Saint Marys, West Virginia along the former B&O rails of the CSX Ohio River Subdivision.
Leading the long train of mixed goods are EMDX 1609 and 1610, a pair of EMD SD70ACe-T4 demonstrator locomotives that CSX was testing at the time.
Please like and enjoy. For best viewing experience, please watch in high definition.

The new tier 4 cabs are so much nicer looking than the older SD70ACe cabs. Plus they remind us of what 1990's railroading looked like!

I know it is a nice horn. I think it's on the long hood end. It faces to the rear. Is this Augusta, Georgia?

They have two horns, a 5 chime K horn facing forward, mounted just forward of the hump above the engine (Nestled very low to the roof so it's not out of gauge) and a little 2 tone I-don't-know-what in a cutout on the very back of the loco for long hood running (Since the 5 chime has all 5 bells facing forward and a small wall behind it stopping most sound travelling over the back of the loco)

Catapillar owns them at the moment but is leaving it be their rail division and to continue as their own company. They did help with development of the 4 stroke 265H engine into the 1010J so it shouldn't have the same problems the H did

Unfortunately yeah, but it was dead either way. The 2 stroke engine that needs that kind of turbo couldn't be made compliant with the new emission standards without that giant box on the roof like the SD59MX's have and that is a complete nightmare for maintenance and would turn buyers away

Tier 4 LOCOMOTIVE = GE GEVO (ES44AC) Pre-Tier 4 LOCOMOTIVE = EMD 645 and 710!(SD40 and SD60-70M) Honestly EMD Suck at making 4 stroke engine. Even the Cummins QSK95 and MTU 16v4000 sound better!

At 1:48 the gondola appears to have PC reporting marks. A Penn Central remnant in 2017?

I would strongly assume it's either owned by CSX or NS, or both. I believe there is some sort of LLC where NS owns all the cars with 'PRR' reporting marks and CSX owns cars with 'NYC' reporting marks, although I haven't seen either of those in a very long time. I would think it follows that format somehow, or maybe they just share the cars marked 'PC', considering PRR and NYC merged to make PC. Probably in the same way you see CP cars marked for SOO, and UP cars marked for SP, MP, CNW, and DRGW.

It is indeed marked PC for Penn Central. As a former Conrail car it is now owned by CSX and hasn't been remarked oddly enough. Both NS and CSX bought out Conrail in 1998 and now can use the CR and PC reporting marks.
