  Yess man, this model is the most durable model that Seiko has ever produced and it is great. There was no 10 bar water resistance in this type of models until now, but this surprises me. Seiko always manages to surprise me. I will definitely own one. I especially want to buy the cream colored dial.

  Retail watch prices have all increased prices above inflation. It’s only the secondary market that’s seen a pull back.

  As someone that’s been collecting watches almost 20 years, I’ve known watches are horrific investments in the grand scheme, and the hype era would implode on itself sooner or later. The general rule of thumb when it comes to investments, if a mainstream publication is telling you about it, the ship has already come and gone. Looking forward to watches going back to normal and the finance/crypto bros leaving the forums for whatever the next big thing they’re told to spend their money on.

  Hi. Thanks for the review. I really like that suave black with gold highlights dial. I tried to search for the watch you are wearing in this vid but came up with nothing for 'Maramusi Watch with Leju Perez movement' - perhaps I've got that a bit wrong?!

  I did not notice a massive movement in prices, but this may have to do with the fact that my watches usually cost under 1000$ apart from the Aquaterra and I am not in a position to buy a watch which is ridiculously overpriced, which most of the watches starting from Rolex up are. So I see this as more of a healthy price correction.If I were to throw some more money at a watch, I would definitely go with one of Christopher Ward, Oris or Zelos, where I always had the impression that I got a good bang for my money.

  Here in Singapore, some of the popular Rolex models prices are just 1-3k above retail. I’m been tracking since early 2022 and its in free falling

  Overpriced watches prices are back to normal. Good, substantial brands like IWC, Omega, Breitling, etc. are not experiencing notable depreciation. Cheaply made hyped ones like the Ming will tank. I think it makes sense. Pieces of substance will always keep their value.

  Great insights… except for that ‘Rolex tried to do something about flipping’ remark. Uh, no they didn’t, no they aren’t, and they probably never will. Rolex plays both sides - CEO says ‘watches aren’t investments’ but love the free publicity about grey market prices being well above MSRP. I wish no one bad financial luck - but if you’re obsessing about your watch’s current value you’re in for a bad surprise. I’d recommend you read the business section of the news and look beyond the gov numbers - many MAJOR economies are in recession - or would be without useless gov jobs and war spending. And it’s going to get worse.

  Watch prices are falling but so is everything of higher purchase price. Example, Used Mercedes EQS is 50% below retail & so is Audi ev, etc. Housing will soon follow once people come to the realization that a pivot on interest rate isn’t imminent. Coming back to MING. I have no regrets paying over retail for any of my MING watches because they are incredible to own and wear. They are masterpieces & feel so great to wear them.

  Was thinking about this the other night why should you expect to make a profit from buying a watch your meant to enjoy it for what it is . I mean you don't go on holiday or for a nice meal and expect to be rewarded for it except for the memories of a good time for example so why should a watch be any different 🤷‍♂️

  You want on par craftsmanship, finishing, a sapphire crystal and the heritage? For 300$? Then the answer is the Citizen Tsuyosa! I like this new Seiko 5 but I will wait for the price to go down to the level of the 5KX.

  Flippers need Flippies to exist. All those, well over MSRP watches, that were sold, had buyers. Now those buyers are going to sit on their paper losses, or sell, at actual losses. Flippers, just like scalpers, will sell out in the 3rd inning, at or below retail, to get their cash back. Anyone dumb enough to pay multiples of MSRP, on micro, non heritage brands, get to learn a lesson. The inflation adjusted prices will hold unless the economy takes a major downturn, at which point, those with liquidity will be able to find some deals on the secondary market. The Trinity and Rolex will adjust then hold on their most popular watches. The rest of the major brands are going to be offered on the secondary markets, used, NIB, w/4 years left on warranty, for 15%-35% off MSRP. This will force ADs to discount, to at least to the highest average secondary prices, or risk holding inventory, into next year’s purchases. The odd complications, color ways and styles will see the largest discounts. The speed at which, and to what level, will depend largely on the economy and stock market. In a liquidity crunch, those that are liquid can find phenomenal deals, if they are patience. Finally the brand’s, financially gain nothing, after they sell their watches, for the first time. The secondary market prices are not controlled by them. But they do seem to get the bad PR. You should have titled this video, “the Ming ding”.
