New Yorkshire Workshop

New Yorkshire Workshop

Hello and welcome to my channel. My name is Russ, a life long carpenter. I am one of those fortunate people who knew what i wanted to do when i grow up from a very early age and have followed through with my dreams. My passion is making beautiful things from wood and I also like to dabble in the dark art of metalworking and other skills from time to time. This channel is about pushing the boundaries of my craft while making innovative, unique and interesting projects, I hope the content i make will inspire others to follow their dreams, try new ideas and make interesting projects of their own.
Russ.

From something that was just sitting around almost destined for a fire, to something practical and a fine useful piece of furniture, is the work of a visionary as well as a true craftsman. Even the finishing touch of the logo was a testament to your eye for detail. Well done lad.

I worked in trade for a long time yourvfirstings was too thick and should have been spattered in with a brush thinly your seconds should be a little thicker and pours in and shaped with your jig then your final should be like milk and that would give a nice finish if pours in front of the jig as you slide it over the milk layer will fill any imperfections or small pin holes if traditional method is used you should reinforce it with Hessian scrum twisted into ropes and lath laid along the centre and a length at either side close to the edges along the length as it would strengthen it in the traditional way

For future reference, try spraying a bit of water on the brick before you cut it to catch the dust.

Add on moulding look fantastic pouching out. Due to external weather. It do not last. Moulding can be done on stiles, top rail, million & bottom rail. The joints need mitre cuts. 😊

Fair play to you for the warts and all shrinkage and other issues. And I’ve just realised it was three years fitted. So well done sir.

When I first start watching the video, I thought somebody reported me because this is as much hard work as I put into my step. My house was built in 1903 and the carpet probably there for at least one years there was so many staples and so much damage, I had to use so much wood filler and putty

Just Beautiful work! I wanted to know if it had to be strengthened. None of the other videos showed the support fabric or muslin you put in the base.

Plaster is just like concrete in that it has very little tensile strength, so it does need some kind of reinforcement. I used a fibreglass mesh, but traditionally a hessian mesh is used and larger sections might also have wood battens moulded in.

i think the cooker uses Induction heating. thats why it didnt get hot. you have to put a pan on it for it to work. have you ever seen when metal is placed within a coil to heat it and it heats it red hot very fast. thats Induction heating

What about using some transparent silicone curtain instead of this black "whiskers". This way you could still see through.
