I obviously get that they didn’t crash, but man, this definitely had prevented so many bad causes. Here is my question, how did the UP get that close to the 2-1 junction layover? Did it run a red signal, or did the CP blow through a late signal? Or were there no signals within a massive distance in which these trains timed to meet at that point? Or…a signal malfunction? Or misread on dispatch? Anyways, enough with the questions, that video is something to look on for any future issues that could resolve into a similar cause.

Bro where’s the signals💀
@Runt3132Күн бұрын
It's called Track Warrant Control or TWC. It is usually used on lines with fewer trains. I have a main line in my area that has over a dozen trains a day that still has TWC, while another line near it has only 3 trains a day but it has signals. It's all about how much flexibility a dispatcher has with the amount of trains run. In the case of the 3 train route, 2 of them are Amtrak trains, and it also goes through a major city and uses tracks of other railroads. If traffic increases, a signal system may be needed.
