A channel dedicated to putting Jewish history back in the context of world history. New videos on Fridays.

In addition to the main history videos, I also have two limited series: Jewish History on the Road, in which I visit historical Jewish sites, and Jewish History on the Plate, in which I discuss the histories of traditional Jewish foods.

Pavel Krushevan as the author of "The Protocols" is new to me. I've always known that the most accepted theory is that "The Protocols" were created by Sergey Golovitsin by the orders of the boss of Tzatists Ochrancha in Paris - Pyotr Rachkovsky. And so Golovitsin copied whole sections from "The Dialogue" of Joly. And also, I think, it's clear that behind Krushevan was the Musscovian state and the Ochrancha, so I would not grant him with the infamous honor of creating "The Protocols" which could easily be the most evil book created by a human. Apart from that, today I found that channel and since I love history I instantly fell in love with it. Those are great history videos! Thank you very much, I learn a lot from your channel @SamAronow.

36:00 I don't know if it's my background or because I'm younger, but I hear more leftwingers use melting pot in a negative way. As a way, the right wing strips ethnicities of their culture and assimilate them. I disagree with this interpretation but is the first time I heard of the right wing using it in this way.

The Canadian residential schools were actually set up AT THE REQUEST OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLE. There is a kind of revisionism going on about it, to benefit indigenous groups.

It took me 6 times watching it (what do you mean, you don't watch Sam Aronow's videos a dozen times?) to realize in the shower that "Federación" is the Ladino translation of the Yiddish "Bund" (meaning something close to "league")

Great video! I found it interesting that the last thing in your list of achievements at 37:17 that Monash was the (first) President (and one of the founders) of the ZFA. With his fierce Australian nationalism I think his presidency here is an interesting decision. On another note, as we are in the late 1910s, youth movements such as Blau-Weiss, Hashomer Hatzair and Dror are beginning to emerge. Will you be delving into youth movements in a later video?

Judeo-Christian refers to values not theology. You have to decide for yourself if your values are reflected better in sharia law or Christian tradition today, not 1,000 years ago. Sharia law is not compatible with modernity for most westerners today. There’s the decent and the indecent, like Victor Frankel said, choose the decent.😊

As a person who grew up "Christian" in the western world, I would say when we say Judeo-Christian, we don't mean Jewish and Christian, we mean Christianity, which acknowledges its roots in Judaism.

I obviously fully understand why the comments are blocked on your Russia video, so here’s another fun/irritating “um actually” nitpick: the Bolsheviks shuttering the Constituent Assembly didn’t turn Russia into a one-party state. To paraphrase Yoda, there was….another. The Bolsheviks remained in a coalition government with the Left-SRs (the breakaway faction of Socialist Revolutionaries that supported the October Revolution) for several months until their attempted insurrection the following July that gave the Communists cover to expel the SRs from most administrative positions

Quite the ridiculous claim that Germany made this into a world war, when Russia was the first major power to escalate. I find it hilarious how people will endlessly cry about Germany’s ‘blank Cheque’ but then act like Russia’s decision to support Serbia knowing full well the implications is completely fine?

  • @israelilocal

Because there wasn't a valid reason for Austria to violate Serb sovereignty Serbia agreed to 9/10 of their demands and were willing to negotiate

  • @rhysnichols8608

@@israelilocal Of course there was a valid reason, Serbian military intelligence was involved in the operation, and it’s quite telling that arguably the most reasonable demand on the list was the one they rejected, they don’t want an open investigation. Despite this it is reasonable to say Austria Hungary went too far for sure, but again this isn’t Germany’s doing. Your argument is one that places blame on Austria Hungary

Without Germany's "blank check", the Austro-Hungarians do not deliver an ultimatum to the Serbians the Serbians could not accept. Austria-Hungary has to tone down her ultimatum, the Serbians find a way to make them happy and Russia doesn't intervene.
