Correcting your correction with a minor correction: Russia didn’t become a republic in March 1917. The haphazard provisional agreement following the February Revolution was that a new constituent assembly would eventually write a constitution for the Empire under which the tsar’s younger brother may or may not be invited to take the throne as figurehead monarch. Russia wasn’t declared a republic until several weeks before the October Revolution.

Fascinating! For those interested, Michael Weinstein's book *With G-d On Our Side* is about antisemitism at the US military academies. A friend was able to escape the pervasive discrimination whilst at the AFA due to his Anglo surname.

SirManatee is more than a German Empire consultant, he's done more work ekaborating on the critically endangered Willamovian, which Tymoteusz Król is quire possibly saving it from destruction entirely. According to legend, the Willamovians spoke a language that got more and more influcened as time went by, supposedly so long theuir Flemish roots are few and far between. This is prime study material!

@@SamAronow ah snap. I get it petlyuras guilt is debatable, and that Sholem was kind of an awful husband. As long as he isn’t judeo-Bolshevik conspiracy or anything (he was an anarchist, bros with Machkno and A. Berkman. That one guy who defected in the 50s to the US and said he was a Bolshevik plant was very much lying) I get it if you have discussion on how guilty petlyura actually was. He wasn’t a denkin, sure, but he didn’t do very much to stop the pogroming. Both of my Zayde’s parents were hurt by the Ukrainian nationalists, my great grandfather was dragged to fight for them at fifteen, and my great grandmother’s shtetl was completely destroyed by the army. So I’m team Schwartzbard. But you may be more along the Jabotinsky route. (My dad is from Fresno, we’re a rather anti ottoman household.)

@@patria3023”Judeo-Bolshevism” seems to be a creation of Denikin and Krasnov. If you want to find an explicitly antisemitic faction in the RCW, it’s the Volunteer Army. In fact their antisemitism and Black Hundredism in general helped seal the Whites’ defeat.

Have you thought about putting all of the content from your channel into a book? Of course, thousands of books on Jewish history exist, but your presentation style is very engaging! It makes me uneasy that western education in predominantly Christian spaces mentions MAYBE the siege of Masada (due to Josephus) . . . and then nothing about Jewish history until the Holocaust. If you're lucky, you might hear about the Bar Kokhba revolt, and the Sykes-Picot agreement and Balfour declaration, but there are still 1,800 missing years there. (Also, the idea that Jewish theology is "Christianity without Jesus" feels fairly prevalent.)

I greatly appreciate these videos. Your research is so interesting. I’m an American Jew from the west coast (same age as yoi too) and I have had zero real connection to or understanding of Judaism or Jewish history pre ‘48. However, the secular analytical historians lens has made the topic so interesting. I love well researched content and this whole channel has been top notch. Great work. Hope it’s paying the bills ‘'cause KZread needs more digestible high quality scholarship. Thank you.

you know, when you mentioned how Jews were more representative in the Airforce in both Germany and now in US Airforce, I had a flashback to when you mentioned in the past that Jews and other minorities were more likely to join the light cavalry in the PLC. Is there any real reason why minorities, and particularly Jews, attracted to those branches of the army?

Could we expect any content about Jews in Austria-Hungary during the war, or at least in other belligerant powers? If Jews in the German military got a video, compared to the much more significant role played by Jews in the Austro-Hungarian military for example, I feel like that could eventually warrant a video. Edit: also wanted to add so far been very much enjoying this series on WWI. So much interesting, yet underappreciated developments globally, but also especially for Jewish life.

"Nobody knows anything about the Space Force." The Space Force is actually a very boring, legitimate, and bureaucratic thing. Basically the US military has a lot of space assets like satellites. The Space Force exists for the sole purpose of having dedicated administrators who specialize in managing them.

@@SamAronow Thank you. And a small bit of digging I found it on Google books but never had a good experience with that site with digital books. Someone claiming to have a copy on Amazon is willing to sell it but there are no proper photos of the book to confirm it isn’t a scam. If the British library website comes back online, would be worth checking if they have a copy

What was said about the Elsass is not correct. A large part of the Catholic majority population initially rejected joining the German Empire, in complete contrast to the Protestants, and this tendency later intensified further with the Kulturkampf, however, the economic boom later caused this hostility to collapse completely. After a high phase in the mid ot the 80s, the party of protesters (P) (59,5% in 1897) and autonomists (AU) (15,4% in the same year) collabsed (both 0,0% in 1903). Ultimately, these parties no longer played any role in the political discourse. The workers became a new bloc in politics and the gap between Protestants and Catholics narrowed considerably. The economic boom turned the agricultural Elsass into a highly industrial region. From 1905 onwards there was no longer any political or social movement demanding reintegration into France. In particular, France's new secular constitution led to the alienation of France-friendly Catholics from France. Only a few French fanatics, who had kept their French passports in the Reichsland, demanded submission to the French yoke.

You know the origin of the word "hipster" refers to people who were "knowledgeable about Jazz", Guys wearing zoot suits in the 50s in Manhattan. The same Jazz clubs became imperative to heroin distribution for the Sicilian mafia associated with "The French Connection", Referring to the first global Heroin trade where opium was sent from Vietnam and Myanmar to Marseilles, Where it was first synthesized into Heroin, And distributed by La Cosa Nostra. The proceeds were laundered into shell corporations, And back o Europe to rebuild after the war through the Catholic church, And through Synagogues to Israel. Not to mention Meyer Lansky. Viva Las Vegas!
