Sam, in the "Personal experience with judaism" you should add the option "Have jewish ancestry". Thousands of catholics i've met, including myself, have an connection to jewish culture and history because they are descendants of jews. This category is particularly big in Latin America, where thousands of christians, particularly catholics, have jewish ancestry.

The video does not say this because not everyone who is a trans woman was assigned male at birth, for example some intersex people (or indeed considers “male to female” an accurate description of their transition, particularly if they are nonbinary trans women). It might not seem massively consequential to you (indeed the survey itself isn’t really) but the data is what the data is and what you said is not what the data says.

I have no clue what I voted in the mock election, but it's very likely different now since the war changed my opinions on a lot of things to do with the current government, not to mention the problem that's been going on all year with the supreme court... I find the religious demographics interesting in this survey, I wonder what made the Xristians increase so much? My answer was of course Masorti (Conservative) Jewish.

Hi Sam! Longtime viewer ever since I was looking for a video on the Hellenistic period and found these videos thanks to Historia Civilis! As a Catholic, I can tell you that the vast share of respondents of this denomination is not at all surprising to me, but then again, I went to a Jesuit high school, where we are very much taught to examine many perspectives intellectually. I particularly enjoy the videos on the Early Modern Period and love using them as a self-help guide to the Henry Abramson lectures. Since I am also working more on Polish history, the videos on the Commonwealth are very informative, and I cannot wait for the Second Polish Republic section! Wondering if there will be any more videos on the history of the Jews in Latin America? I am Colombian by background myself and have a Jewish uncle whose parents moved to El Salvador from France prior to WWII.

Happy New Year Sam, I'm very grateful to have found your channel. I genuinely find it to be the best channel for Jewish history on the Axis's of Entertaining, Artistic, Academic and Educational. We've all been learning a lot from you and the way you care about the history you tell really makes us want to keep exploring it. You've done a lot to bring this all to us in a way that we'd surely remember. As a Catholic from Chicago, some of my best friends from an early age were Jewish families who (like so many) moved out to the Suburbs in the 80s and 90s - where our family's farm village became surrounded by the new townships. It's still there today, even if many of the old families are gone now. No one was too far away from the old memories of the Old Countries that both my family and my Jewish friend's came from, and after a while - the only people who remembered the City the way it used to be, and the old Country, were people like my and my friend's parents and grandparents. Their telling of history is what originally inspired many of our own interests in History, and the history we lived amongst. So, in a lot of ways, this channel is something that reminds me of those times - of that old mission: To Never Mourn, But Always Remember. Thank you for that, and for all the work you do. Happy 2024.

Hi Sam! I have learned a lot from your channel and I love how much you like surveys like this. I have done surveys and demographic slides like this in the past and I had a suggestion concerning the categorization which I think would help a lot in future analysis. From my own academic research and my own personal history in the religion (although I am not religious and only really see myself a 'Christian' in a secular cultural sense), "protestant" is a very very broad category and many are so different from one another they have little in common other then the label as "Christians." Which does not exist among our Catholic and Orthodox cousins. I understand there are way to many Protestant denominations and ideologies to count, (we protestants love theological disputes what can I say). I think especially given certain groups relationships with Judaism, and the mission of the channel, I think it would be good for a future survey. I would probably suggest something like Mainline Protestant, Evangelical Protestant, (and maybe Mormon?) as these are divisions I found helpful in my own academic studies.

What has changed the most is _which_ issues are most salient, how the parties themselves are perceived, people's opinions on Bibi, and all of the above combining to create a rightward social desirability bias- i.e. the longevity of the right in power has created a false perception that the median public have shifted right on the issues. Something very similar happened in the US in the 1920s that we're going to talk about soon.

The relatively high number of Finnish viewers can probably be explained by the fact that in Finland we actually like our Jews and we have a lot of religious people who are very much siding with Israel. As for me, I'm a Finnish Lutheran, I'm a history buff and I have a lot of Jewish friends online, you have an excellent Jewish history channel, so of course I'm here. The sudden increase in the number of military people on your channel is probably caused by some interesting videos you've made about Jewish military men.

Hello Sam, I am a 2023 incomer to your channel, and have been fascinated so far by Jewish history, particularly because 1. Some of my friends are Jews 2. My mother married a man with Jewish, Irish, and Polish ancestry about 10 years ago, and consequently I am now related to a Jew. I am also interested in the causes of the military increase from 2022-2023, that could be because leftist viewers were becoming much more pro NATO than the right for the first time, at least in the US.

Sam I will politely suggest that this survey confirms the concern I've previously expressed to you.

Can you do a video on irish Jews like the president of Israel's family. I'm asking as an Irish fan. No firm opinion on the war!

He is half Irish, half Egyptian. His father was also a president (considered to be the best one) and he was Irish. And he was the coolest because he was a boxer champion in Ireland.

I find that women are more likely to watch videos that (1) have women in the thumbnails or (2) are about western Europe for some reason.

@@SamAronowThanks for responding to my joke post. :-) I like the Western Europe stuff, but my family is from Odessa, Romania and Austria-Hungary so I’ve been watching those too. (Trying to get my Mom to watch your videos.) I’m bouncing around the backlog right now but I have to admit that one video with the veiled woman is making more interested than I would normally be in Shabtai Zvi.

I assume it has to do with socialization its more normalized for amab people to be interested in topics like history or politics early on. If they transition later in life, there is a greater likelyhood that trans women have had this socialization despite being women. Trans men on the other hand were the smallest group.
