I'm pretty sure you won that 2 v. Everyone simply by missing so much you literally leveled up your crew's training DURING the battle. Like at some point 2/3 through a sailor was like "OY there Dimitri, put down that bottle and look at this. See this lever, it MOVE the gun!" And then the word spread to the other batteries, was flagged to the other ship, and Anatoli got an extra vodka ration that night.

The most comprehensive/in-depth time-travel setting I have encountered is the “Roads to Moscow” trilogy by David Wingrove; highly recommend. It is of the simultaneous branching timeline type, very well written, and does a fantastic job exploring the consequences of altering history, including how having multiple asynchronous iterations of oneself in a specific location can be used to dodge death and the predestination fallacy.

Unless they've fixed it in a recent patch, battleships aren't ineffective against subs. They're just super expensive as sub hunters, because you can't fit depth charges to them. But I _have_ sunk subs that thought they could gank my lone battleship on its way to reinforce a fleet.

I'm not glossing over the High Energy Turn that Tex had his lead ship perform at about 23 minutes in (just before he bonked his head). Internet points for those who know what a High Energy Turn is and where it comes from.
@boobah56437 сағат бұрын
Well, I'd assume _Star Fleet Battles,_ since that's the only place I've seen the term. And the actual maneuver is to burn lots of engine power in directions other than 'forward' to spin the ship more rapidly than is otherwise possible. It stresses the hull, though, which limits how often it can be done without damaging the ship doing the maneuver. Unless it's an overbuilt hulk, like most Federation designs.

2 battleships vs and entire fleet, normally that would be a losing battle on paper, but they forgot TEX IS ON THE WHEEL and made the EXPERTO 2.0 and clobbered the enemy with MEMES XD
@boobah56437 сағат бұрын
Nah, at that point in the game any old BB that can make more than twenty knots and has decent armor can do the job. It needs to resist the little ship's guns and have enough speed that the secondaries can murder anything that tries to close to torpedo you. It works less well once your enemies have torpedoes with some sort of stand off range. Until then they pretty much need your help to get within range.

I agree with that 26:00 ish talk about selling oneself and that being something we shouldn't encourage. I'm a hard-core free market guy, but not because money is an end in itself. It manifestly is NOT. I support the free market because a healthy free market encourages human flourishing and opportunity for growth. Becoming a better (and dare I say holier) person rightly ordered towards becoming the best version of yourself is a worthy goal. Pursuing business success ethically in pursuit of that so as to enrich yourself and others is likewise laudable. Seeking money for its own sake, though, is destructive as any hard drug and equally fatal in the end, if not to the body than at least to the soul. God grants commerce to humanity, not humanity to commerce.
