THE BPL GHOST RECON EXPERIENCE - Part 3

#blackpantslegion #ghostreconwildlands #ghostreconcoop
Editing by Hutz Fandango
Music is by www.epidemicsound.com/music/f...
Ghost Recon Wildlands takes Bolivia and turns it on its ear to turn the LANDLOCKED NATION into the Narco fiefdom of choice for our military operation. Which to us, is Bonkers. But hey, its Ubisoft and they do this. Join us for a celebration of coop stupidity in only the ways we can. One part fireteam whiskey, one part BPL shenanigans, one part milsim, one part poor choices. Note - we are not experts at tom clancy games, the tom clancyverse or anything similar.
Remember: We only pretend to be professionals

    "80s Colombia with this gameplay" struck a little close to home -- yeah, the drug violence back then was pretty much as gonzo as this is.

    @@WTFisTingispingis imagine - operatives dealing with uncertain intel, no stable source of high grade ammo (Far Cry 2 style), using peak 80s surveillance gear and US assets, any injury will need medical care with lots of risk, while stuck in a country drowning in violence... But I also don't want Ubi to touch this EVER

    The room-clearing M249. Point at exterior wall, squeeze trigger. Sweep back and forth, from waist-height to floor level. Wait until the belt is empty. The room is now cleared. (usage varies depending on material and wall thickness, please read field manual for further instructions.)

    The cheekweld tape on a lot of the old school kool AK's was sort of a holdover from the Sovet Afghan war were they'd wrap their tourniquet around it so they'd know where to find it. Course, it does eventually wreck the tourniquet to the point they become useless within a few days of being stretched out, torqued up and generally buggered. But that's ok, you're shot in Afghanistan back then and probably going to die anyway so having curses to communism on your lips on the way out was also typical of the era.

    Tex, I was on vacation in California desert (west of Imperial county) and they had all sorts of fun signs for tourists. One was at the beginning of a dirt/gravel parking lot in a vehicle recreation area (basically a state-run place officially for dirt bikes, buggies, and 4WD trucks): "4WD Required. No Subarus".

    Lockpicking is hilarious in that the better manufactured the mechanism is the easier it is to pick because the better the key works, the better the fake key works. I bought a set because it was cheaper than hiring a locksmith to get into my late grandmothers home when my sister accidentally locked the deadbolt we'd lost the key to decades ago after some cleaning work. Took me 15 minutes to get into it because the mechanism was old, corroded and very heavily worn. I had to get into a desk at work ( superfluous locks, it's a cubicle farm ) someone was asking me about lockpicking and I had the tumbler mechanism out ( because the release was just another pin at the back ) before he finished his sentence. It's not as hard as it seems if you have steady hands, and most importantly a super light touch with the torsion wrench. I cannot overstate how important a light touch is. Funniest thing about the lockpick set is they're gigantic with a TON of pick shapes and you don't need all that crap. Every lock I've picked has used no more than 3 of the simplest pick shapes and whatever torsion wrench fit the slot, and 90% of the time 2 or three slow rakes across the pins does the job. This post is a joke for all legal purposes.

    The more I learn about Subaru's and especially how their drivetrain and engines are engineered the more I realize that it is a rich man's car in a poor man's disguise. The maintenance requirements for a boxer motor can't be downplayed as there is very little built in durability compared to most engines. Failure to respect this requirement is going end up costing you massively.

  • @Lieutenant_Dude

    @Lieutenant_Dude

    And doing any reasonable maintenance on it is damn near impossible, since the cylinder heads are near the bottom of the engine bay, pointed towards the wheel wells. Good luck changing spark plugs.

    On Tex's comment about offroad capability, no clue about the newer models they probably suck - but a 2004/2005 with a good trim and "good enough" tires'll get you far. Something that's kind of surprising that you wouldn't expect is they have a really tiny turning circle, so that's nice too.

    @@Coconut-219 The tighter your turn radius, given the same footprint, the more wear you put on the ball or CV joints. So it can be nice but isn't entirely positive.

    The dialogue of this game would of been so much better if they had gotten the team that created the Mercenaries games to work on it. I feel that it would of been more appropriate if they would of taken that approach, instead of trying to make it all serious and tac-ti-cool, if they would have made it more ridiculous and nonchalant with the characters.
