I'm an average guy who enjoys ultrarunning, spending time with my wife and two kids, and daydreaming about all the adventures I want to take part in!
I love running ultramarathons, and I'm always searching for videos of races I'm signed up for. I was often disappointed in the videos I found, so I decided to record my own and share them for others to do some course recon, or just go on an adventure with me.

I can't believe I signed up for this again :/
My Pops and Brother convinced me to do the 50 as my first Ultra in 2023. Before race day I hadn’t run more than 5 or 6 miles on the road a few times. Never felt more pain in my life haha Finished in 24hrs and have never been more proud of something I’ve done. I’m hooked on trail running now. Love the videos brother.
It’s 105 here I’m always in it should I really add a sauna
how do i get the lock laces? nice review!
No heel pain from lack of cushion? I'm totally new to minimalist shoes.
I messed up and got the performance laces (I had no clue there were two different style, I just picked the color I liked lol) breaking them in is a challenge
Really enjoying your videos. As a new father, my daughter is 3 months old, I appreciate the family balance you strive to acheive. I'm new to the juggling act and find myself running late at night and getting up at 3:30am for work. It's been a slog, and I'm appreciative of your desire to put the peices together and share the grind with positivity. Please keep posting your great content. 👍 I'm watching from Michigan.
Awesome video highlighting the ups and downs of motivation in training to stay consistent. Thumping the comfort devil off the shoulder to sharpen the sword. Great work brother!
So i am doing the trident. Question for you. What are you eating before the race and when are you eating before the race?
Really great content man. All your videos are super motivating and positive. I’m a Florida runner too and these videos make me want to sign up for an ultra. Keep up the good work on your runs and keep being a great human.
#DarnAdulting. You got this, dude!
Instead of getting a dry sauna, I wonder if sitting in a hot car would work? I mean, now I'm looking into building a sauna, but maybe in a time crunch it's a "use what you got" kinda thing.
I this the real life? or is it just fantasy?
OMG, grilled cheese is my all time favourite. You do get the good husband tick.
You make some of the most wholesome ultra running content on social media. Seriously. Just so down to earth and honest. I feel like you’re my big brother showing me the ropes and the enthusiasm is contagious. Such a great vibe!
Appreciate you sharing. Our youngest had some behavioral issues too….it can get better and most likely will if you continue to parent as best you can. Step by step just like any run on an ultra.
I’ll echo the other sentiments… really enjoy the videos lately.
Hang in there, You’re inspiring.
Thanks for sharing, I enjoy the honesty.
You Sir deserve waaaay more subscribers! I simply love your enthusiasm! Got my first race coming up in December (Hmong 50): Super pumped about it! Thanks for the knowledge and especially, the positive vibes!
The least intuitive, most erratically performing headlamp I ever used. Very short battery life. Heavy.
Such great insights, I feel more confident about my race day now (searching for dry saunas now)
Good stuff, Mike! I love your honest and humble approach! Looking forward to July 27!
Enjoying the recent videos dude!
I love your transparency.
Immolation requires: ~Inspiration 💫🧘♂️ ~Motivation✌️ ~Preparation 📈💪 ~Dedication 📖 ~(and above all) Perspiration! 💦🏃♂️ We're all rooting for you!!
Thanks mate, really good review 🤙
The heel cup is so narrow it kills my feet. I wish they didn’t because i really like the shoes.
Luv your channel. Nothing fancy. Raw. Real. Relatable. Stay true bro! P.S. my money is on you and the 'stache at the Immolation 💪 Go after it!
So how do you outfit shoes with lock laces? Does Xero Shoe do it for you?
So this review is for the 450 not the 400? Thanks
Thanks for the awesome training vlog, looking forward to the rest of the series. How do you manage time between family/work/training?
"...she catched me a lot and ..."
Amazing week of training!
I stick to 5/10k's, I've only ever done a half marathon max distance, but I know one thing. Running sea level on flat land is significantly easier than running in the mountains. Lol Good luck, marathon runners are inspirational. You have to make it out to the Rocky's in Colorado. Pro's go iut there for elevation training. Or try one of those crazy running masks that asphyxiates you. x_x 🍻
Are you going to try the vanish tempos? Do you forefoot strike in the Torins?
Whats the best transitional altra your recommend
1) So glad to see you looking and feeling better mentally! 2) The Vlog series is awesome and i look forward to watching each one 3) I think the format you used for this Vlog was perfect....informative, succinct, and fun. Well-done! Will you be defending your "Belt" at the Tampa Bay 100 this year?
I appreciate your honesty. It’s incredibly helpful.
You: Do you know what i do for upper body strength? Me: a pull up bar in the kitchen door?? You: A STEEL MACE!! 😂😂😂 I just had a similar self imposed DNF. I was going for my first 100k, and had an earlier broken foot i was recovering from, so i just phoned it in and didn't put in any effort into training. Now I'm on fire and ready to kill my next race. Looking forward to following your journey to awesomeness while i strive for my own "best".
Great video. I appreciate your vulnerability and transparency. Currently training for my first ultra. I am on the waitlist for this one and the Tampa 100. your videos have been very helpful thus far. Thank you.
Great video! That mace is a awesome, but I would have broken a window.😆😆
I've DNF'd Cruel Jewel a few times
Never saw the mace before. Thanks for demonstrating that.
Love the format of this video, killing it Mike! great vid! random observation - it's strange seeing you run through your neighborhood on a nice looking evening and not see a single other person out...that's so different to my area, there are constantly people out cycling, walking, jogging as long as there's daylight! I imagine that makes it tougher to get out when there's nobody else to wave to haha
I feel like you and Brad Finn (@bradfinntrains) should do a podcast episode.
Dude, eight and a half mile pace is kind of going hard. When do you do your LSD runs in an 8-week block?
Go Mike 😀👍🏃♂️🏃♂️
Great video!
You have a certain unbridled positivity at moments and I appreciate that.
