Race Debrief & Discussion | Death at Dupuis | Last Man Standing

Спорт

Well...the race didn't go as planned! My goal was 200 miles, and due to some mistakes and mental blocks I was only able to hit 104 miles. At first I was embarrassed to miss my goal by such a large margin, but after some reflection I have decided to turn my failure into a learning opportunity and come back as a better runner, and as a better person.
In this video I discuss the race in general, the winner Matt Clapper, and dive into the actions that both helped and hindered my performance. I had an amazing time at Deathat Dupuis, and I can't wait to come back next year.

Was pretty bummed about not hitting the 200-250 I've been talking about for awhile too. But we did get a record number of us to 100! Gotta aim for the stars to at least leave the atmosphere in this format. Can't wait to crush the next one with ya!

Congrats on 100 miles, and on the honest introspection! It was people like Matt who got me hooked into ultras- the encouragement, camaraderie, and feeling that we were all in this together, regardless of what place you finish, was so refreshing after decades of road racing. I'm looking forward to seeing where you go from here!

This is an awesome video - one of your best. I ran my first back yard ultra last year (2nd coming up in a couple of months) and what you said about the crew and every minute counting is crazy true. Last year (in my first one) I told family and friends "Oh ya, come out to the race. I will be back into the pit 45 minutes past every hour and we can visit for 15 minutes". That was HORRIBLE. The mental energy and such required to have those "visits" was horrible. I just wanted to lay down and shut off the world but instead I have my family there wanting to visit. I had no idea how important even 30 seconds would become by nighttime. A crew (who knows the score) would be great. But hey - we all have to eat humble pie every now and then and it sounds like you put some whip cream on it and enjoyed it be the best you could:) Love your attitude bud and love your videos! Lets have a great 2024!!

the worst part about ultra running is deciding how competitive to be, too friendly your just there to socialize, too aggressive and you wear yourself out =p. also i hope to see you do some ironmans if your cross training
