How I Won A 100 Mile

The inaugural Tampa Bay 100 was an incredible event, and I was fortunate enough to bring home a victory. This event wasn't so much a race as it was a tour of the bay area, and local RD's did an amazing job of mapping a course that took runners through known (and lesser known) landmarks from Tampa bay to Downtown Saint Petersburg. From the streets of Tampa, to the beached of Clearwater, and ending in the middle of downtown Saint Pete among vibrant nightlife, the Tampa Bay 100 was an event to remember, and it should be on every runners list of events to participate in.
In this video I not only break down my race plan, but more importantly dive into what was going on mentally throughout the entire 18 hours and 33 minutes it took me to cover the 100 mile course. I share my race plan, a course breakdown, some keys to success, and most importantly my incredible crew, without whom I would have never been able to achieve such incredible results.

This was my first 100. Took me a lot longer than it took you. I also did Pinellas Trail Challenge this year and your video on how to survive it was crucial! I love your videos, you and Matt crushed this race!!! GREAT WORK!

Well done! I started running in October and came across your channel and immediately was inspired to do an ultra down the line as a goal. Was even cooler to see you're a fellow Tampan. Thank you for the inspiration and crucial info.

Took me 26hrs to finish. I think I got like 13 place. This was my first 100 and it was pretty hard since I was unsupported and had a vest with like 30 pounds of supplies. Those last 10 miles really got me. I turned the wrong way a few times since they changed the course last minute. I walked the last 5 miles because the pain in my mid foot didn’t let me run. Definitely ready for another 100 but definitely need a crew if I want to achieve a better time.
