Why not just brush the resin onto the fiber before vacuum sealing.

NIce. I use Easycomposites stuff. How did you polish up the inside of the mould?

The final result looks great. Do the hinges self-close so the door stays shut, or did you have to fasten a clasping mechanism? Thanks!

I'm quite late to the party but regarding on how to clean the wax sheet residue from the polyester part. Simply wash with wax degreaser/final wash cleaner used in Automotive paint industry (commonly known as Pre-Kleano)

Hey, great video! Do you recommend doing this for the entire tool surface of a mold? I had an incident where the entire surface degraded. I was wondering if I can sand, roughen and reapply the gel coat and polish it to a gloss finish without fearing the gel coat ripping off during a product pull.

14:13 Funny story, it actually kind of looks like a Luxury Ball, a fairly niche/rare Pokeball type. They both have a black top and bottom, the main difference being that the Luxury Ball has a golden center ring as opposed to your red one. It also has a golden ring on its upper half, whereas yours is symmetrical - still, a really close match!

whenever I try to sand epoxy directly, im alwayssss left with scratch marks no matter how many grits I use or how much I sand with each grit. Is this what the topcoat is for, is it easier to sand? Or am I just not good at what im doing

Why not use uv resin and a uv light? It’s thicker and dries almost instantly

Really cool idea to make them from 3d printing, but why not just cnc machine them out of aluminum? Seems way quicker and simpler to me?

Hi, off topic but since you work with carbon fiber please advise! I have an exhaust end cap made with 2x2 twill carbon fiber. It is attached by small removable bolts and the fitment on the metal exhaust. I want to remove the end cap without damaging it. There are no adhesives only the tight fitment, how would you knock off the end cap? Please suggest a way to loosen or lubricate/penetrate between the carbon fiber cap and titanium exhaust. TIA!

Hi Mat, could you please review this old video about a Kafo resin infusion and tell me how you would save some weight, since KAFO orthetics are more about stability than weight saving? I'd really like to know your opinion, especially about the carbon knitted tubes.

Who the split mold process be the same if I were to joint two ends together at a corner? Like for a front car splitter lip or a rear car diffuser. Those parts have complex shapes that can’t be don’t in 1 pieces of carbon fiber so multiple pieces of carbon fiber are used.

You really should move all the electronics that are at the bottom outside of the actual enclosure. Perhaps think about making a box underneath to house it.

Hi Thanks for the video. I have a doubt. When u build such a tall shelf with this 8020 did u feel any sort of instability? I was thinking to make one shelf for my fish room with size of 75”x20”x90” (l x w x h) do u think it can hold them.?

your low-angle helix (almost hoop-like coils) would be good for holding pressure, but won't make a very strong beam --or torsion tube, either).

Carbon fiber will emit toxic fumes if it is coated with epoxy... you should never use a laser on carbon fiber.

I really would like to do two round headlights like the old school Tenere 600's. It all has to be assembled on a rebelx rally tower. Would you be able to do such a job?

I was taught to wrap the tube with 3 layers of tape. The first at medium tension, then tight, then medium for the last wrap. My favorite material to make tubes from was a knitted triaxial carbon at +45, -45, and 0 degrees. I made a 59cm frameset that weighed a little over 3lbs with it, the forks weighed right at 1lb.
